I've purchased this apple several times at Rachel Dunn Chocolates, which was a chocolate shop on Detroit Ave. in Concord. The apple is juicy and sweet. The caramel is just the right amount so it's not overly sweet. I ordered one for dessert for Christmas. It's refreshing after a big dinner.The apple is huge, and it easily can serve 8 people with a good size wedge. The literature that comes with the apple says it can serve 8 to 12 people. It's best to take the apple out of the refrigerator 8 hours before serving so that the caramel and chocolate are easily sliced. Once we forgot and then the chocolate was brittle and broke into pieces when we sliced it.Customer service is great. I wasn't able to get through on the phone line to order so I sent an email. This was 4 days before Christmas, and I didn't think anyone would actually get back to me, but someone called! I was able to get my order in and have this for Christmas. First off, the chocolate is absolutely delicious! Second, the owners are incredibly kind and accommodating. The entire family is so welcoming and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. We were lucky to have our class led by the owner himself, Michael Dunn, who made the session both informative and fun. Parking was conveniently located right in front of their Oakland location, and we were fortunate to have a smaller, more intimate class. Everything was well-organized--from the hairnets and aprons to the chocolates and dipping stations. They shared insights into the chocolate-making process, along with a bit of history and its significance, which added a cool educational aspect to the experience. This is such a fun activity, whether you're with family, on a date, or even solo. Honestly, it would also make for a fantastic work team-building event! And the best part? Taste testing! Since it's literally decked to the halls, and jam packed with candy you get a feeling like you have to buy EVERYTHING. Prices seem to be on some items and not on others which I didn't favor. If I would have known how much the gummy pizza was I wouldn't have bought it. Also, with all the candy in close proximity to each other the colors inside the stosorta run together. There is also an area where you can sit and watch a movie. The Wizard of OZ was being played during my visit, and you may sit in one of the three chairs while you're there! Negative stars if I could…read more I've only been to this store twice. My first experience was good, but unfortunately, my second experience was completely different. The female cashier who originally helped me was kind, welcoming, and handled my items with care. I purchased about half a bag of candy from her, and everything was pleasant. I later decided I wanted some dark chocolate, so I returned to make another purchase. By this point, the store was getting busier, and another employee stepped in. He asked whether the remaining candy was mine. I explained that it was not mine anymore because I had decided not to purchase it. Instead of simply leaving it at that, he continued confronting me about the candy and the original $43 price. I had already decided that $43 was far too much for a small bag of gummy candy, so I only purchased the portion I wanted and left the rest behind. His attitude toward me was rude and unnecessarily confrontational. While I was paying for my chocolate, he even threw it onto the scale rather than handling it with the same basic courtesy the previous cashier had shown. When I pointed it out, he picked it up and gently placed it down. I asked why he couldn't have handled it that way in the first place, and he continued arguing with me about the candy. At that point, I told him that he was being rude and disrespectful. There were children nearby, so I chose my words carefully and left the store. I understand that employees have to protect their merchandise and can question customers when necessary. However, there is a respectful way to handle those situations, and this was not it. I would have happily taken my business elsewhere if I had known I would be treated this way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I Definitely won't be returning. Lorelei didn't identify herself by name or title and simply said "hello?" I didn't bother going further with this ridiculousness. Lastly, I wasn't offered a sample piece of candy. I had to ask for one as Lorelei was trying to leave the register after the transaction.
