Once you enter, not only are you greeted by the delicious aroma of chocolate that instantly transports you to chocolate wonderland, but the friendly staff is also there to welcome you! Everything is housemade which makes this candy shop so special. It makes you wonder if there's a chocolate river behind the counter. For a quaint little store, they certainly have so many adorable little sweets inside. Shelves are neatly arranged with the cutest packaging in clear bags with bows or tiny boxes. And the candy or chocolate pieces themselves are swirled or decorated in their own charming little ways. A friend and I were on our way to an event, but since we were walking by Danville Chocolates I thought that she would like to check it out. I had been in before with friends and was not able get a clear answer on what items were vegan, so I just looked around at the treats and gifts while my friend was looking in the cases and deciding what treat she wanted to get. Well, my non-vegan friend ended up asking what items were vegan. I was surprised when the clerk started listing off quite a few options. I am so sorry that I didn't get her name, but I'm guessing that she is either vegan or has someone in her family that is. I hope to get back later in the week so I can 1 - go back and get a vegan treat and 2 - find out her name and thank her for her knowledge. read more

They have only 2 pre-packaged box sizes for chocolate. Tiny and Tinier. We were not offered to sample anything, so I have no idea if what they make is good. We've dropped by a couple times to Danville Chocolates and I love the way they do gift boxes! This last visit I picked up a few different gift boxes as gifts and one was even shaped like an adorable pumpkin! I loved that they had several different small packets that contained a variety of chocolates - chocolate covered raisins, espresso beans, almonds, and I ended up getting a few of them just for some variety to go along with the larger gift boxes. Came here a week before Christmas about 30 mins after they opened and it was CHAOS, but honestly in a good way! I work in the area, and when I get here early enough in the morning, I like to take walks before work to really settle into a routine and get ready for the day ahead. I've walked by this place a couple of times, and I had an opportunity to shop here today. I ordered the M&M bark just to sample the basic stuff, and it was a little too sweet for my liking, but it was exactly what I was looking for to satisfy my sugar craving. The staff was all really friendly, helpful, and attentive. What I really enjoyed as well was seeing the caramel getting made on-site. I'm not personally a big caramel person, but it was really great seeing it made. The place wasn't too loud beyond the typical staff/customer interaction and the candy and chocolates being made. Wow! This place is not only super cute but the aroma of chocolates that grabs you as you walk by is something else!! Service is also amazing. When we visited, over the weekend, staff asked us right away to let them know if / when we needed any help and were super attentive once we'd decided on what to get. They were also knowledgeable about the different types of Carmel Apples and toppings available and shared which were the most popular. Both the Carmel Apple and Frozen Chocolate Banana we got were absolutely scrumptious!! We were able to sit in the sun at one of their two outside tables and enjoy. I wish I lived closer because I could grab a treat from here every day! Everything I have tried from here has been amazing! We stopped here the other day to grab something for grandparents day. Also we may have also purchased for ourselves at the same time, but thats neither here nor there. We grabbed 2 caramel apples this trip. At first they wrapped them up normally for us. But once they found out that one was a gift for our grandparents they kindly wrapped up their apple with a bow! We even got to pick the ribbon color which we matched to their wedding flower colors! I walked in here on a whim, not knowing much about Danville, and im so glad i did!! I got a small bag of chocolate covered gummy bears and a mini m&m coated caramel apple, they were SO delicious! The apple was fresh and tart and was perfect with the caramel, and im hiding the chocolate covered gummy bears from my kids as it'd disappear in 2 minutes if it were up to them... My friend and I strolled into this shop after our brunch yesterday. I love the caramel apples from here but decided to take some time to look at their other offerings. My husband has quite the sweet tooth and wanted to surprise him with some chocolates. The woman who helped me was super sweet and I left with quite the variety. What a fun experience to grab something sweet. They have a lot of different caramel apples and individual chocolates to choose from. But they also have little bags of goodies and even tables with treats themed for the upcoming holidays- St. Patrick's Day and Easter. My favorite caramel apple is the apple pie one- caramel, white chocolate and cinnamon. I could list all the other options of caramel apples but I urge you to check it out yourself. The woman helped me recommended I try something called "the avalanche" which is white chocolate and peanut butter bar with little chocolate chips, marshmallows and crispies mixed in to it. It was SO amazing! I should have gotten more.. but at least I know what I'll be back for. We are still enjoying the rest of the chocolates I picked up but we are having a blast trying each one. read more

My sister-in-law surprised me with a bag of birthday gifts. One of the gifts in the bag was a beautiful salted caramel chocolate apple from Danville Chocolates.
