I grew up with See's Candies. When my mom worked in SF, there was a location across the street from her office. I got the best treats for every occasion from See's. This shop is the one we've shopped at for years and that will never change. The candy is so good and the staff here so nice and helpful. They always have such great offerings for all occasions. I bought chocolate Seegars to pass out when our son was born. My mom buys chocolate Santa's and turkeys to place on our dinner table for Christmas and thanksgiving dinner. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I popped in and gathered my favorite chocolates because I got to meet the sweetest employee there. My brother and I were there yesterday on Friday around noon and the girl behind the counter at the shop who helped us was so wonderful and friendly. We got the one-pound box and we were a little indecisive with what we wanted, but she was really patient with us. She really accommodated us by letting us take our time making decisions on which chocolate candies that we wanted. And there was so much to choose from. I loved the variety that they offered. And, at the end, she gave us complementary chocolate candy each, and I opted for the Bordeaux which was absolutely delicious. The price for the one-pound box was $32 as of June of 2024. While it might be a little pricey for me, the chocolate candies were just delectable. I especially enjoyed one of their new additions: the birthday cake chocolate, which tasted just like a delicious birthday cake pop. The chocolate shop itself was very clean, neat, and organized. The shop was fully air-conditioned against the hot summer outside, so it felt really nice to be inside. It was a nice shopping experience through and through. Parking was extremely easy as well. I ordered custom boxes online- I was able to pick out the exact candies that my family members love in custom percentages. I received an email letting me know when my order was ready. When I came to pick it up, there was a huge line. I was able to bypass the line and pick up my order with no wait or hassle. I will tell you that this did not work as smoothly last year, but it seems that they have worked out the kinks. The woman who helped me with all my concerns and need was a bright light in my day. I finally used my 1 lb worth of chocolate gift certificate. I had gotten it about six years ago and haven't used it until this very day. I was worried that it wouldn't be taken but the lovely lady assuaged my fears by pointing out that it's worth $19 and it never expires. I snatched a box filled with See's lollipops (cafe, butterscotch, vanilla, and chocolate flavors) that cost $18.30. The lady then suggested I used the full potential of my gift certificate and grab a solo chocolate. I chose the marzipan. I even got a free sample of one of the truffles too. Parking is super easy. I stopped by here Sunday morning to pick up my girlfriend's favorite candy. It was packed right at 10 when it opened, with a line out the door (not to mention it was raining). But whether it's the See's store in El Cerrito Plaza or this one, I like to stop in occasionally for some samples and to buy little treats for my sweets. I received a one pound gift certificate as a gift recently. I convinced my husband we should stop on mother's Day to get his mother a half pound :) (leaving a half pound for me, of course). Lucky for us they were open and the line wasn't too long. Knowing what I wanted I hopped in line. Karissa helped us and was as sweet as the samples she was serving. Thank goodness I asked for a sample of my favorite, because I had the name wrong!!! I would've ordered a quarter pound of the wrong candy. We ordered a half pound box of molasses chips for mom, then Casey and I split a half. Butterscotch Squares for me (not to be confused with butterscotch chews, which have caramel instead of brown sugar), and more molasses chips for Casey's half (quarter pound). Our total with the voucher came to $1.80. Karissa even complied with our request, and signed mom's box "Love, K", so we would know which one was hers. So cute! read more
