However the hash browns weren't hash browns, but country style potatoes. My eggs were cooked perfectly but my husband's sausage patties over cooked and dry. The coffee was great. The service was very good and friendly. The inside was so cute and bright. It even had a mock up of the Pensacola water tower inside. Bar seating had cute yellow chairs. I just wanted to let you know that it seemed like we had several drinks to our server when we only had one each and when the bill came, several items that we DID NOT order was on our bill. The total was almost $500.00 Dollars. Once I noticed and brought it to her attention, she quickly grabbed the bill, crumbled it up and made me suspicious that I just caught her wrongdoing. When the corrected bill came back, it was for $247.00 and it was what we ordered. It looked like she was padding the bill for her benefit. Please check your bill to make sure it is correct before you put your card down.

The restaurant is located right over the water. Parking is right under the building. Take the elevator up to restaurant and check in at the hostess stand. We highly recommend a reservation and they do fill up fast. We had a seat in the outdoor space. It was just a little warm for me, but large plantation fans gave a nice breeze. Like any good foodie, I had my meal selections already picked out prior to my arrival. I love a good calamari, and this was no exception. Crispy, well seasoned, and tender with a little bite of heat. We also ordered the lobster fingers. They are exactly what they sound like strips of tender juicy lobster meat in a light tempura style batter. This was probably the best dish of my entire trip. The grouper piccata was highly recommended by my colleague, so it was my obvious dinner choice. This meal was light and decadent at the same time. The fish was lightly breaded served in a bright rich lemon cream sauce. Crispy capers added a little texture. Wilted spinach rounded out the meal. This was an exceptional dish! We also ordered the filet. The steak was perfectly prepared and served with creamy whipped potatoes. After such a beautiful dinner, we opted to take dinner to go. The key lime pie was also highly recommended and I can confirm this first hand. The coconut macadamia graham cracker crust made this an exceptional dessert.

It left me with a mild buzz, no jitteriness and minimal acidity. I will say though that LA has led me to be more of a coffee snob than I realized. Don't expect a heart poured into your latte. Service is a bit slow. The gal at the register didn't know what they were out of and had to check anytime someone approached the register to order and asked for a food item (none coffee). And because this is one of the few legitimate coffee places around, it's extremely popular so the line quite literally goes out the door. There's also limited waiting space inside. All that being said, their coffee was very good. Just know before you go. They maybe in Florida but they're on island time!

The food was delicious as always but the service was 100/10. First things first, I am recently Gluten Free due to a new medical diagnosis and going out to eat has been a huge adjustment and usually means I either get something that tastes gross or nothing at all due to risk of getting sick. Not here! Ruby Slipper has a dedicated special dietary menu with one whole side devoted to GF options. Score! The French toast I got was made in gluten free bread; it was good enough to enjoy. You can't compare it to real French toast but for GF it was pretty good. I got eggs with it, which are always delicious here. Let's talk about the next thing that made this visit perfect: the service! Top notch! They were all so knowledgeable and friendly and accommodating. We came with our two children and my two year old was extremely fussy; the server offered to bring us a to-go box for our food after she promptly fell asleep in the booth. My oldest (4.5) ordered avocado toast. I had ordered all the fix-ins on the side and they accidentally made it with everything on top. They were quick to apologize and remake it. Then my oldest had her meltdown because she is 4.5 and we were sitting too long and it was too loud and the avocado toast was not like how she was used to. She started to cry and the COOK of all people came over and asked if she was okay and how could he make it better and was just so warm and kind and I was completely BLOWN away at how willing he was to make it right. I mean, they were so BUSY as it was Sunday brunch. So he made her a special avocado toast just how she liked it. Our server was also just so sweet and brought us boxes and kept things moving in such a compassionate way without making us feel bad about our children just falling apart. Everyone was so sweet and it reminded us of why we go there! Everyone in our party also loved their food too. Definitely would recommend it to everyone!

We arrived around 10:30 on a Wednesday morning and we were wrong to think that the place would be empty after an early breakfast rush. We were seating upon entering by Brooke who also was our server. The menu is varied and we found out that you can order anything at anytime. We had ordered the Spicy Pulled Pork omelette and Shrimp and Grits. Next time, we're thinking a Grouper sandwich as they were being enjoyed at two tables next to us and looked delicious. Our breakfast entrees arrived quickly. The omelette came with a choice of side and I chose the potatoes. They were seasoned but a bit cold and hard. Brooke offered to swap them out when checking on us, but by that time, I was filling up from the large packed omelette. It was filled with pork, peppers, onions and cheese with more spicy, sweet pork on top. I wish the entrees came with toast. The shrimp and grits were served over gouda grits as requested and the dish was spicy and filling. Definitely one of the best we tried in a while. Drinks were refilled promptly and Brooke took care of her guests quickly and with a smile.
