First he scooped half a spoon of rice into the bowl and looked at me and said is this enough? I just kind of looked at him... because I've never been asked that question at Chipotle. I thought they had like a standard amount. He continued to ask me "is this enough?" with EVERYTHING I asked for... I was so uncomfortable and didn't know what to say. Very disappointing experience on Friday, May 22. When we walked in, the restaurant was a complete mess. There were multiple dirty tables throughout the dining area and the garbage bins were overflowing, making the place feel neglected and unclean. When we got to the front to order around 9:15 PM, we were told there was no white rice, no chicken, no guacamole, no lettuce, and no sour cream. Considering the restaurant closes at 11:00 PM, it was frustrating to see so many basic items unavailable almost two hours before closing. On top of that, it felt like the staff seemed annoyed that we even walked in. Extremely hostile service in Cheshire! *Apparently you cannot write a review for the Cheshire, CT location so I'm writing it here* My family and I were really happy when a Chipotle finally opened closer to us, but unfortunately, this location has been a constant disappointment. Tonight's visit, however, was by far the worst. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was entirely unwelcoming. The staff member helping us put on her gloves and stood there scowling, actively avoiding eye contact. When I politely said hello, she mumbled an unintelligible response. From there, the interaction turned hostile. She aggressively snapped "WHAT KIND OF RICE!" under her breath, and we had to ask her to repeat herself many times throughout the entire process--culminating in her bluntly throwing out, "We don't have tomatoes!" As if she would've been even more upset if she had to hear us ask for pico/mild sauce. It didn't just feel like someone doing the bare minimum; it felt entirely personal, as if she was determined to make every customer feel as miserable as she was feeling. She aggressively tossed the food into our bowls while my family and I remained as polite and respectful as humanly possible. To top it off, she was rushing us so much and barely listening that she ended up charging us for extra items we didn't ask for. We didn't even bother to correct her; we just wanted to get out of there and didn't want to let her ruin our time any further. At the end, I thanked her for her help and even genuinely said, "I hope you have a better rest of your day," only to be met with total silence. This isn't the first time we've experienced this kind of rude, unwelcoming behavior at this exact Cheshire location. Tonight, it made my wife and daughter feel genuinely uncomfortable. We completely dread walking into this building now, so it looks like we'll be taking our business elsewhere. I hope everyone keeps their jobs as I'm sure they will, but I genuinely recommend some retraining in hospitality as well as customer service. I stopped in at lunchtime to get a bowl with the honey chipotle chicken. It took a minute or two for the line to move, as a couple of staff were running back and forth taking orders and moving some stuff around. When I ordered, the guy that took my order looked at the line, saw there was no honey chipotle chicken, heaved an exasperated sigh and without saying anything grabbed the regular chicken, dumped half of it into a second metal container, mixed in a powder, tossed it a bit, then came back and made a bowl with it. What I got was sandy and dry chicken, which I ate about half of before pitching the rest. Service is lacking. Placed an order online and was notified that the order was ready and in one (1) bag on the shelf. Entered the building to no bag on the shelf. Went to the counter to enquire about the order and had to finally grab someone's attention because not one employee asked me if I needed assistance to be told that no such order existed even after showing them my order on the app. Had to wait for the other orders to be made before my problem was addressed and then had to show someone the order on their screen to be told it was given to someone else. The staff seemed very overwhelmed and were passive-aggressive with each other and blunt with customers. By the time I ordered, they were out of several items. While I understand being understaffed, the manager didn't even seem to bother to help them. At checkout, the employee dropped an F-bomb after forgetting my order, which I found unprofessional, and rolled his eyes when I paid with a $50, responding dismissively when I offered another way to pay. I don't often go to Chipotle, but was a regular customer several years ago when I was living in another state in MidWest. I don't know if their quality has gone down all over or if it's a Connecticut thing, all the Chipotles here I tried are equally disappointing. The reviews on Yelp are terrible. Until last week, I didn't understand the ratings and comments because I had always had great experiences. About two weeks ago the location was out of white rice and carnitas. Yesterday, they were out of vegetables/fajitas and didn't have any forks for me to eat my bowl with. The white rice was awful, made with way too much lime and salt, almost inedible. Even worse was the attitude of the young lady at the register, who, when I asked how I should eat my bowl, responded; "I didn't place the order for them...". I I've never left a review of a restaurant before bad or good but this awful place deserves one. Lived in Wallingford for some time now, used to come here all the time never had any issues. Past year that's changed. I had 8-10 orders consistently messed up in a row and some terrible in store experiences before I called it enough. They put together some of the worst looking bowls I've ever seen now, on top of that the management and staff is some of the worst I've seen as well. They constantly are out of something, the staff acts like you are the worst person ever for asking for your order, they blast loud music with swearing which I don't care about, but that can't be great with little kids around? The food tastes awful, chicken seems either undercooked or overcooked, and did I mention how rude the staff is? Management clearly doesn't care, it feels more like a frat house than a restaurant. It's a shame because every time I pass the place now it's still pretty packed so I'm sure management doesn't care about any of these reviews but please if you're thinking of coming here, don't. Go to pancheros down the road instead. 10x better. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Whoever's running this place needs to figure it out, I hope you actually read this although I doubt it. So upset with the service. I went there the other day, and I was excited because it wasn't very crowded. After making my bowl, I took out a $20 bill to pay with. The server told me that they did not have exact change to give back to customers. I was a little confused by this because I would assume that fast food chains would normally keep change on them. I only had this $20 bill with me, so I couldn't pay because I wouldn't get my change back. When I say exact change, I mean that the person working told me that there were no $1,$5,$10 bills to give me. So, I was forced to throw away my bowl, as I couldn't pay for it. Samet & Adithya are outstanding!! A true feather in the cap of the Chipotle model. I drive completely out of my way to this specific location, because I can count on getting my food done correctly, made with care, wrapped correctly and not slapped together like other locations in CT. It matters if food is prepared to please the eyes, and it always does, and the taste is always on point. It is also nice that you're greeted with a smile and well mannered people who treat you with respect too. Samet & Adithya are consistently great, as is Lisette. They are the reason my family and I take the trip here. They deserve the recognition, as other Chipotle locations pale in comparison!! read more
