You couldn't ask for more for a bed and breakfast. private bathroom in each room and an adequate continental breakfast. We had the entire venue to ourselves, and were given permission to "make it our home." The event planning portion of our stay could not have been easier. JoAnn was professional and made us really feel like we were in good hands. All our worries were put to rest and she had answers for all of our questions. We are in no doubt that no matter what happens, our day will go off without a hitch. The wedding venue is all inclusive and priced VERY competitively. It is so nice to be able to just make 4 payments and show up on our wedding day knowing that everything from the DJ to the decorating is done.

The view from the room was a garden view on one side and a open field with barn on the front. We watched peacocks, guinea, horses, goats, chickens, mules, ducks, and cows from the window. Bring your boots to get to the dock then enjoy a canoe or cayak ride while birding or fishing. WONDERFUL spot for a serenity walk of paddle. The accommodations are meticulously decorated and comfortable. Breakfasts are catered by a local restaurant between 7am - 11am, and include scrambled eggs, bacon, orange juice, coffee, tea, several choices of baked goods, and even some Prosecco available if you want to concoct your own morning mimosa. In addition, beer, wine, and bottled still and sparkling waters are available all day, along with some crunchy packaged snacks in the afternoon. The location is in the Five Points area, which has many excellent restaurants within walking distance. We also noticed that Milledge Ave. is a popular jogging route for students in the morning. Not into jogging? A pleasant walk among the shade trees is a lovely diversion along the route as well. Parking is adjacent to the building and included. Access to the rooms and building are through an app which is easy to use. We felt like personal guests of the owners, and they ensured that we were satisfied with everything from start to finish. After our recent stay, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Athens again. We will definitely be back.

They were also the hosts for the wedding reception and did a spectacular job preparing for and hosting this event. There was a large group, which made it fun. Once we got to the lower part of the castle, we found our trek wasn't quite done yet, as we needed to hike through a field and some trails in order to get to the main part, so onward we went. By the time we arrived, we could've really used some beer or mead to parch our thirst, but we couldn't find any. All of the food and beverage vendors had really long lines, so we decided to hold off until we got back in town instead. I really enjoyed the variety of vendors selling their wares. There were so many handmade items and I found a lot to be very fairly priced. My favorite part was seeing the birds of prey in addition to just soaking in all the cool costumes people came up with. All in all, it was a fun experience but not something I'd want to do in summer when it's hot when there's so much walking involved.

You could certainly go in, run around, look at the castle in 15 mins, but we wanted to understand the art, the reason behind the build and just learn a few things. Santa was there for pictures and it's neat that you can rent a room IN the castle. We weren't able to view those rooms but, I believe there are pictures online. Maybe we will come back and stay! You can't see the castle upon arrival, they take you in a bus up the hill so, I liked that it didn't ruin the surprise. They had little Tiaras for purchase and they give you a small prize when you complete the word puzzle they hand you. And event here would be cool. It would also be great if they had more drink or snacks for purchase but imagine that's in the works!! This was a costly project so, it will only get better!
