They made a huge impact on our day and left a memorable connection between our families. We had a more intimate, private ceremony that we set-up ourselves and Edward & Cynzia both did not hesitate to give us an extra hand. The ceremony in the barn and dinner on the front porch was stunning. The rain became a part of our day and my husband and I wouldn't change a thing. We were surrounded by so much love, talent, support, & beauty that our stay here at the Gillen House has become one of our fondest memories. Edward & Cynzia are crazy talented and creative !! The house and grounds hold so much history that they both worked so hard to preserve yet tastefully elevate. I love their thrifts & art. The house is full of pieces they have collected and created themselves and you can find yourself lost in them. Such a serene & beautiful place. We hope to stay close and will be coming back here! Thank you so much Edward & Cynzia ! - John and Fahmida (& her siblings) p.s breakfast was so delicious! Edward's french toast was amazing! The dining space was so peaceful and perfect for our morning after!

The accommodations are meticulously decorated and comfortable. Breakfasts are catered by a local restaurant between 7am - 11am, and include scrambled eggs, bacon, orange juice, coffee, tea, several choices of baked goods, and even some Prosecco available if you want to concoct your own morning mimosa. In addition, beer, wine, and bottled still and sparkling waters are available all day, along with some crunchy packaged snacks in the afternoon. The location is in the Five Points area, which has many excellent restaurants within walking distance. We also noticed that Milledge Ave. is a popular jogging route for students in the morning. Not into jogging? A pleasant walk among the shade trees is a lovely diversion along the route as well. Parking is adjacent to the building and included. Access to the rooms and building are through an app which is easy to use. We felt like personal guests of the owners, and they ensured that we were satisfied with everything from start to finish. After our recent stay, I can't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Athens again. We will definitely be back.

I am a big fan of luxury and this place really hit all the marks - beautiful rooms with fun modern luxury furnishings, beautiful common areas, very comfortable. We were wandering around the common areas to get coffee in the mornings. It was all just lovely. The owners really care about their customers and about ensuring that everything goes smoothly. We appreciated that. We will be back.

Enter into a living room with a gas fireplace and very comfortable sofa (which turns into a sleeper sofa), two wing chairs, a writing desk, a powder room and a closet. Adjacent to the living room is a long hall that leads to the bedroom suite, which features a king-size bed, two stuffed chairs, a small built-in dresser with TV over top and a closet. The bathroom is quite spacious and has a large walk-in shower with an overhead rain shower. The kitchen is located between the bedroom and living room. There's a table for four, an electric cook top, microwave, Keurig with coffee cups, creamers and sugars. Packets of oatmeal are also available for a quick breakfast. There's a dorm-sized fridge with small freezer compartment. There's an outdoor balcony that runs the length of the suite and can be accessed by doors in living room, kitchen and bedroom. Outside is a small table and two chairs. The patio overlooks the parking lot and the Town 220 restaurant. This suite is the most comfortable accommodation that I have stayed in while traveling. It felt like home to me. Continental breakfast is served daily from 8-11 in the basement. I had warm chocolate chip cookies one afternoon at the front desk. At the James Madison Inn, you can park your car (for free!) and leave it parked as there is plenty to see and do in the town. The city of Madison definitely embodies southern hospitality!

Our room was very spacious with a seating area in front of the TV and had a gas fireplace, ceiling fan, and balcony. Nice spacious bathroom with a waterfall shower head. The front desk had a good supply of chocolate cookies, warm and crispy. Yum Yum. They have basic breakfast options but we chose to walk 3 blocks to Betty Genes for a full breakfast. Also, The Sinclair is a great option for specialty coffees & light breakfast. This is a great option for a nice stay in this beautiful antebellum Southern city.
