Just don't. It won't save you money. Go somewhere else. Sticky dirty floor, bugs. The pillows were moist.

Almost new courtyard in the heart of Gainesville! Located in walking proximity of many restaurants…read moreand bars. Pretty nice building with few quirks. For example, hotel lobby is not on the street level but one floor up, with no specific signs. Parking is plentiful but is not complimentary. Internet does not work well even for elite Bonvoy members which is part of our membership! Hotel is new, but bathtub is straight out of 1950s. Bar is well stocked with lots of servers, but meatballs are straight out of microwave hot on the outside, and cold on the inside....etc. Most importantly - at the check-in point, I spoke to someone who could not spell. As she couldn't punch in my last name in the computer, she asked for ID which is fine. However, making a comment out loud "god lord is complicated" that my last name is complicated is not acceptable, and is offensive. It appears that this hotel is developed by someone who has financial means, and no clue about hospitality. Perhaps they should hire a competent general manager, and remove all illiterate hicks who scoff at everyone not meeting their preferred demographics!

The coffee in the room-- which I'd need to fill with bathroom tap water since they don't give you a bottle of water upon check in-- is a cheap keurig knockoff. It burns through flimsy black plastic and I'm sure would only leach chemicals. I've stayed in hotels with more hospitality and more amenities for half the price of this. Edit: and they charge for parking. Of course you guys do. ONE STAR.

We had been familiar with the are about 20 years ago and opted to just stay overnight to see how it had changed, etc. I did some research and opted to stay here, partly as I already knew the location. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. Check-in was easy. They have self-parking around most of the building and do not charge you for it. The room was fairly spacious. The entry hall was a bit of a choke-point versus the entrance to the bathroom, but it wasn't a real problem. The shower stall was also a bit narrow, but manageable. The room was dark at night and quiet. Despite the hotel's location on a main road in town, I wasn't really aware of traffic noise. The location is about 3 - 4 blocks from Gainesville's square. There are several restaurants within 1 block. If the weather is nice, the whole area is very walkable. Entry to the hotel is primarily off Jesse Jewel Pkwy, which is busy. There is basically a U-turn into the front entrance. However, there is a small spur road that also connects to the parking lot and alows easy access to the square. The layout is a bit odd, but once you see it, it's easy. Breakfast the next morning was pretty good - basically back to pre-pandemic standards. They had ham, scrambled eggs, various bread + toaster, a waffle machine, cereal, yogurt, etc. If I were staying in Gainesville again, I'd consider staying here.

This hotel is a little tired/worn though. I think a little attention to detail could overcome some of these things, e.g., our bathroom had a dead bulb the night we checked in and the nice note written by housekeeping was on a tablet with a coffee spill. The next day another bathroom light bulb went out so I had to ask for two bulbs. The next night the tv wouldn't turn off so we had to unplug it but then in the morning the tv would comeback on after we plugged it back in. The fitness room was closed for much of our stay due to an HVAC problem but guests could use the Marriott Townsuites fitness room (the hotels have adjoining parking g lots). The breakfast service was back to normal/pre-COVID and they have an A (99 out of 100) health inspection rating. There is a laundry on the second floor with generously sized washer and dryer, which was $3 per wash and $3 per dry. Some evenings there was fresh chocolate chip cookies in the lobby. The internet signal was good. My husband and I both worked remotely on a few days of our stay and had no trouble with video calls, email, etc. I don't think if we're in the area that we'd stay here again.

In addition, there was no in room coffee maker for early morning coffee without sending me down to the breakfast area for coffee (by the way very bitter). The room had a refrigerator, microwave, and iron. It seems to me that the two items that were missing would have gotten a lot more use than the microwave. After our travels we wanted to clean up but we found that the locked down soap and shampoo dispensors in the bathtub were empty. In addition the water pressure was so low (water saving setting I presume) that the water only came out in a slow dribble and was mostly unuseable. Trash bags were draped over the trash cans, making us install the trash bags ourselves. We went to sit on the beds and found them so high that our feet could not touch the floor (I am 6'2" and my toes could barely touch). The toilet seat was super low, I assume for people in wheelchairs however for a person with bad knees it was very difficult to navigate. The breakfast the first morning was seemingly planned to have just about nothing in abundance. The eggs and the bacon ran out; they replaced them but even with limited guests it ran out again. When they refilled the bacon they put 6 to 8 pieces in the tray. they were gone almost immediatly and stayed empty while I was there. The physical facility was fine but it seems the management cut every corner that could be cut. I have stayed in hotels all over the world from the absolute best, to hotels in the Arctic without heat and just a lot of blankets. This hotel at best is a disappointment. The way this hotel is run is a true example of management cutting so many corners that it drives away guests; it is truly not worth the $170.00 per night that they charged, I have had more satisfaction and a better experience staying at a Motel 6. I like many others, I seldom leave reviews; however this hotel pretending to be an upscale facility is deserving of my time due to the many glaring defiencies. Several mediocre aspects would never cause me to to leave a negative review, it is only the truly deserving that typically cause me to respond on Yelp. This hotel will not see another penny of my money. I would urge people considering a stay here to look elsewhere, there are many nearby options.
