This is a pretty standard Hampton Inn, except that the TV didn't allow us to access our streaming apps. We really need to relax before we fall asleep, and live TV is just not acceptable. I also don't love the teeny tiny pillows, but that's apparently what every Hampton Inn offers. read more

We were going to be in the Gainesville area later on Saturday and didn't want to drive several hours to get home. We had been familiar with the are about 20 years ago and opted to just stay overnight to see how it had changed, etc. I did some research and opted to stay here, partly as I already knew the location. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. Check-in was easy. They have self-parking around most of the building and do not charge you for it. The room was fairly spacious. The entry hall was a bit of a choke-point versus the entrance to the bathroom, but it wasn't a real problem. The shower stall was also a bit narrow, but manageable. The room was dark at night and quiet. Despite the hotel's location on a main road in town, I wasn't really aware of traffic noise. The location is about 3 - 4 blocks from Gainesville's square. There are several restaurants within 1 block. If the weather is nice, the whole area is very walkable. Entry to the hotel is primarily off Jesse Jewel Pkwy, which is busy. There is basically a U-turn into the front entrance. However, there is a small spur road that also connects to the parking lot and alows easy access to the square. The layout is a bit odd, but once you see it, it's easy. Breakfast the next morning was pretty good - basically back to pre-pandemic standards. They had ham, scrambled eggs, various bread + toaster, a waffle machine, cereal, yogurt, etc. If I were staying in Gainesville again, I'd consider staying here. read more

Terrible experience. My co-driver and I tried to check in after his wife booked us a room online using her friends and family discount, as she is a Hilton employee. This is something that they have done numerous- including numerous times recently. The front desk receptionist told us she has to be here, and that is their policy and Hilton's policy. So, he called his wife to see what the problem was. His wife called corporate to see what the problem was. Apparently, corporate called the hotel and the receptionists told him he was causing a scene. This did not happen whatsoever. He told them that they were wrong and that he was calling corporate. That's literally it. No scene of any kind was caused. I was standing there the ENTIRE time! This caused a fight between my co-driver and his wife, and supposedly might cause her to lose her hotel discount. I, personally, went back in and asked what it was that we needed to do. The receptionist told me "Nothing. There is nothing we could do.". I explained that I looked on the Internet, and that according to Hilton's website and all of the other four websites I read Hilton does have a friend's and family discount, so that what she has originally told us was untrue. She told me that is not their policy yet again. I think she and her co-worker had some type of control issues- to the point they would make up lies about their policy and about what a scene that never happened. Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I would not give this hotel money if it was the last hotel on Earth with employees like this. read more

In town for business. This location is pretty average for the Hampton brand. Seems to be a little older. Overall stay was ok. Ran into a bit of an issue on check-in as they didn't realize that I had checked in on line and actually gave me the room key for a different guest that had not arrived. Had I not remembered the room assignment from online check-in would have probably been an even greater issue for one or both of us. I mainly stopped by the desk to pick up my HHonors benefit, otherwise could have gone straight to the room with the key-less entry available on the app at this location. From the room there was more road noise than I usually like but it either died down substantially when I was ready to sleep or I was really tired. Breakfast consisted of the typical Hampton fare. I stay often enough that I really enjoy when locations have something regional or different from the usual. I would consider staying again if in the area. read more

Room was clean and staff was helpful. But the overhead light in the bathroom was equipped with a motion sensor. What a bad idea! Both of us were rudely and completely awakened by the bright light when either of us went to the bathroom during the night. As a result, we slept poorly. Paper cups were provided in our room. I asked the desk if glass or plastic were available so we could have a nightcap, and none were available. Surely for over $200 a night, Hampton Inn could do better. read more

I didn't stay here overnight, but I thought I would. I as in town waiting for the Amtrak and wasn't sure if I'd be out my first night, or need a hotel and take the train the next night. Even not knowing if I'd be a customer, the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They let me drop my bags and they allowed me to stay in the lobby for a little bit waiting to figure out my plans. Chris was especially helpful and friendly. When they sold out for the night, I returned to find she had already been looking for alternate places for me to stay. Fortunately, I didn't need to and caught the train that night. I try to stay at this Hampton Inn when in town on business. This location is decent overall - not as fancy or as nice as many (most?) Hampton Inns, but it's close to where I need to do business. The rooms are usually clean and comfortable - pretty roomy. The lobby is small, with a breakfast area adjacent. The breakfasts are the typical "Hotel hot junk food" choices - waffle machine, machine-made scrambled egg omelets, and a breakfast meat of one sort or another - you know the drill. Not healthy food so I rarely bother with any of it. The counter staff are always cheerful, helpful and friendly - that at least makes a somewhat mediocre "Higher End" hotel seem more tolerable. Nothing worse than having your first contact (the folks at the counter) with a hotel not be pleasant. That's a nice point here. Note that unlike many Hampton Inns, this one does not have a restaurant. There's an iHop next door (pretty dismal) and a Wild Wings a block away but that's about it. If you're looking for a "full service hotel" in that regard, this one isn't so much. But it's clearly going downhill - the negatives are starting to mount up IMO. The chair on my "room desk" is shot and is so low that the top of my chest is desk level. I made a Cup of Noodles in the ancient microwave, and when placed on the desk while sitting in that chair, the top of the cup is at chin level! This is not very comfortable. The chair-height adjust is simply no longer functional. So here I sat there feeling like a kindergartner. The microwave is ready for recycling. It's very old, not a digital display type, wasn't plugged in (I had to fish the cord from behind the refrigerator. The cord was stuck on something so I had to pull the cabinet out to get to it, then plug it into the lamp outlet). Once I started heating my cup-of-noodles, it made a really loud and concerning grinding noise - bearings shot due to being ancient is my guess. I wondered if it would grind to a halt. I made a video to hear and see the loud grinding noise, but alas Yelp doesn't allow posting videos. The microwave timer doesn't work - wish I had known that before my noodles boiled all over inside and I had to clean it up. Remember folks: this is a HAMPTON INN!! Advice: If using the microwave use your cell-phone timer instead of the really old mechanical microwave timer. The lobby computer "boarding pass printer" was broken. The counter staff had no clue what was wrong. When I tried to print my pass, I found that SIX people before had tried the same thing with zero results - the printer buffer was waiting for a working printer. I asked for extra paper thinking it was low on paper - no love. Still no printing. So why bother offering a "business computer" in the lobby with all the airlines preloaded into the home screen for printing boarding passes? Frustrating. Folks - this is a Hampton Inn - not a Motel 6. And isn't charged at Motel 6 rates accordingly. I stay in quite a few Hamptons and most are awesome. This felt more like a Motel 6. Or Super-8 or Budget Inn. Two stars is all I can honestly muster considering it's one of the "Hotel Standards" - Hampton Inn usually rates 4 or 5. I'm going to find a better hotel in Gainesville. They really need to make some improvements to get back to the level Hampton Inn brand is supposed to represent. Dave read more

We always stay at Hampton's when traveling but will never stay at this one again when in the area. Beware if you put a card on file that they will use it without your knowledge and then refuse to return calls or emails when you dispute an unauthorized charge!! Called and emailed the manager who is refusing to contact me or remove an unauthorized charge!! Not the nicest Hampton to begin with but as we were only staying for 2 nights, just dealt with it. read more

I have stayed at this venue twice & each time disappointed. Last year, there was no construction underway- so there should have been no issues...well, someone tried to break into my room last year. Told the staff and they were flip about the incident. This year, same time as last years stay, hotel is under renovations and construction. One entrance in/out and no signs to point the way. Noisy and woke up by traffic constantly. I stay here for it's ease of location secondary to a large conference I attend each fall. Next year I will not be returning to this Hampton inn. read more

I'm actually writing this review from my room in the Hampton Inn. I booked a reservation a week ago. I'm HHonors Silver member. Normally, when I check in at a Hilton owned hotel, I'm thanked for being a HHonors member and am offered bottled water. Nope. Nothing to fuss over though. This hotel is obviously an older Hampton Inn. The lobby is tiny and everything is dated. I get to my room and the TV doesn't work. I call the front desk and am told they are booked. But he found a room. I pack all my stuff go downstairs and get my new room key. I back up and the room is a smoking room. He could have mentioned this when I called from my original room. I go back to the front desk with all my luggage and that's the only room available. So I'm back in the room with no TV. No apologies from the front desk. It's take it or leave it. Do yourself a favor and go the Hilton Gardens in Gainesville or even better, the Hampton Inn at Flowery Branch. read more

This hotel is fine. Not much more, and not much less. The housekeeping staff are very nice and friendly, but the front desk staff member that has checked me in the last few times is not. The morning front desk staff have all been very pleasant. There is not an abundance of non-chain restaurants in the area which is no fault of the hotel but your choices to eat will be limited. read more

This is the second year that my church has stayed here attending a conference at Free Chapel. Last year we literally bathed in cold water and they assured us that they were having issues due to construction, etc. and tried to fix the problem and it was never fixed before we left. we believed the best and booked again for the conference this year. I am having the same issue as before. Tepid water at best. It is very hard waking up and getting the day started like this. They need to invest in a better hot water heaters but I will not be staying here again. read more

My wife and i checked in for one night. We arrived late for our check in (not a problem). We were "greeted" by the lady working the night shift. Maybe she had a really long day, not the friendliest. I felt some weird undertone that wasnt appreciated. Maybe racial. Good thing we were staying at the Braselton branch the following 4 nights. MUCH nicer staff and better experience. They are in the process of renovating the rooms and we stayed in one of the new ones. It was very nice and well done. The bed was comfortable, there is a huge TV (I mean huge), the bathroom is very nice with nice linens and the decor is slick, modern and clean. There are two USB ports on both sides of the bed and two at the desk. My daughter slept on the pull out couch and actually said it was comfortable (for a pull out couch). The staff was terrific! The Hilton Hotels app has a digital key feature which lets you enter you room with your phone, but it's got some issues. We tried to use that feature two weeks ago at another Hampton and again this time, but it didn't work very well either time. The app also has issues with it's choose a room check-in features. It's like they rolled out the app too soon. Even the staff at both hotels were frustrated with the app's issues. However, if you didn't know those features existed you wouldn't miss them so I just figure it will be a bonus once they get all that ironed out. The breakfast was good, standard Hampton Inn fare. The workout room was small, but it was clean and had good equipment that was in good condition. The pool is small and not picturesque at all with just a stucco wall around it, but very clean. The location is just ok at best. It's on a very busy street, but it wasn't noisy in the room. However, it is a short walk to Gainesville's very quaint downtown with good restaurants and upscale shops. It's also right next to the chicken monument (yes, a monument to the chicken) and who doesn't want a picture with the chicken monument! I will be staying here again and would highly recommend this hotel! read more

We stopped by on our way through and I have to say this place is so nice. The rooms are decent in size and have actual wall air condition controls instead of just on the unit. The bathroom had a plethora of shampoos and other utilities needed and the staff was very present. The big defining factor of the staff for me was when I had lost a necklace we checked everywhere and thought MAYBE it fell down the sink. We called the front desk, told them we were not positive but would like if they would check the drain for us. The man who helped us and took apart the drain was extremely sweet and understanding and a bonus FOUND MY NECKLACE. Overall this stay was very nice. The only downside I can think of was their lack of wall outlets. read more

A very average hotel, nonetheless a great stay! I stayed here for 3 nights on business. I was not in the hotel for a very long time but every time I would come in and out, there was always someone saying hello or goodbye. The staff is very friendly and would always make conversation with me and ask me how I was doing. An annoying thing about traveling is buying enough water. I completely forgot to buy any water and they kept me stocked up all week- so nice of them! There is a pretty good fitness center open from 6am-10pm which is very convenient. Also a nice little pool to the side of the building. The breakfast is always pretty good. The dining area is nice with lots of tables, space, TVs, and it's overlooking the pool area. If you're in the area and need a place to stay- this is a great option! You will not be disappointed as long as you're aware that it is a very average hotel and not some super fancy fancy expensive place! read more

WOW... no new reviews in 2 years!!!! This Hampton is no longer so bad as it was portrayed! The facility is clean and appears well maintained... there were no issues with the room. Good flat screen tv, comfy bed, a/c working quite well, king bed and sleeper sofa that was comfortable as a sitting area! Good desk & chair, micro-fridge combo in room. Pool area was clean, and several guests were enjoying the area Friday evening. This is an older (small design) Hampton, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I, too, have Hilton's hhonors program... and I had expected to pay a little over $100 for the night, but instead learned that I got to stay the night for a mere 10,000 hhonors points. THAT is JUST GREAT! I have been previously shocked to see some UNLIKELY LOCATIONS that were 30K to 50K points, and yet were not significantly better than this location. I'm thinking that Gainesville, GA, is just not a sexy destination. As for the complimentary breakfast in Gainesville... JUST AS GOOD as at the Hampton-Riverplace in Greenville, SC... a sexy destination and upscale Hampton at $379/night! My breakfast was a bit of a splurge because of irregular days & meals preceding the stay here due to travel for an unexpected funeral. I had very decent scrambled eggs, an excellent biscuit with pepper gravy, delicious sausage patties... and a DIY waffle. The breakfast area was very clean and well-cared for by a conscientious attendant seeing to any needs while seeing that the area was kept clean and neat. This location is very convenient to downtown Gainesville & several top-rated local dining opportunities. I would not hesitate to recommend this Hampton, and I would certainly stay here again. read more

There seems to be a shortage of hotels near the downtown area of Gainesville, Georgia. Due to a family illness, I needed to spend a night near Northeast Georgia Medical Center. This hotel is very close to that hospital. My room, which was on the top floor, was quiet enough for me to go to sleep early, which was important, given my schedule. When I checked in, the clerk told me that breakfast would be served from 6-10 on Saturday morning. Pleasantly surprised, I was able to eat, check out, and get to the hospital shortly after 7, enabling me to see the doctor as he did his morning rounds. The facility could use some updates, but I saw no real problems. The room was clean, breakfast was better than average for a "freebie", and the staff members I encountered were all courteous. As I really only needed a place to sleep and shower, I did not even turn on the television, nor did I use the tiny microwave. There was a mini fridge, which was handy, as it refroze my ice pack. Because I live close by, it is unusual for me to stay in a hotel in Gainesville, but if I ever needed to do so again, I would not hesitate to return to the Hampton Inn. The price was average, but the local taxes were exorbitant. I thought that was rather odd, as Gainesville does not strike me as "touristy." read more

I'm a young female, traveling alone. Friday night I arrived in Gainesville after midnight. The directions on Google maps led me to the wrong end of town, so I called the front desk for help. I explained where I was and between two guys, they gave me wrong directions four times. Finally I found the place. When I pulled into the parking lot, two homeless-appearing men came up to my car, waved and me and knocked on my windows. I was creeped out and drove to a nearby gas station and called Hilton Honors. They were extremely helpful and changed my reservation to the nearby Hilton Garden Inn (STAY HERE! SO MUCH BETTER!!!) My reservation points for the Hampton Inn were reimbursed due to the safety issue. So on Monday, when the General Manager at the Hampton Inn (Rena) came into work, she saw the notes and decided she didn't believe that had happened, and charged $125 to the credit card anyway. Hilton Guest Assistance called her and asked her to remove the charge and she refused. I called her today to explain what had happened and to ask for her help and she flat out said "I don't believe that happened and I'm not taking the charge off." She was the rudest person in the hospitality business I've ever encountered. She shouldn't have a job. I am utterly disgusted at that place and will now never stay at another Hampton Inn in my life. read more
