I am surprised by the 3-star rating. It's a beautiful setting and has amazing views of the lake and access to lovely trails. The hotel is a little dated and the rooms could use an upgrade but it is pretty nice, functional, and clean. Gym is on the smaller side but also functional.

I checked in today! So far so good! The room smells a little stuffy but everything appears to be clean, bed feels comfy and the room is spacious. The closet is in the bathroom behind the door. I missed it at first. Although the closet is small the hangers accommodated the clothes I needed to hang. Only two places to eat onsite at the Lodge Sidney's for breakfast/ lunch closes about 3pm and Bullfrogs lunch/ dinner closes at 9pm. We walked on one of the paths that led to the villa's and back. I look forward to exploring the property!

I recently went to Legacy Lodge for a group, weekend stay and conference. I booked my room months before the event. Unfortunately, a little over a month before my visit I ended up on crutches with a badly sprained knee. In the 5 times I entered and left the Lodge for my stay, not a single time did staff help me open the oversized, heavy doors. Every single time I had to figure out how to balance on one leg, hold both crutches, and try to lean over to shove the door as hard as possible to attempt to open it without knocking myself over. One time as I entered on a Saturday afternoon what looked like 2 managers were literally walking towards me, watched me struggle with the door and just smiled and greeted me as if I was happy to be about knocked over as their staff just stood and watched. When I checked out there were 4 attendants at the door and no one else in site yet they were all staring at their phones, mindlessly scrolling. After I managed to get through the door they realized I was there and asked if I needed help. I flatly told them yes, I had needed help the past 5 times I've tried to enter and exit yet their phones were more important. RIDICULOUS! To make the experience worse, outside our sliding door was a small porch area. The porch was definitely one of the items I was most excited about. Well, our porch was in horrible shape. The chairs and pavement landing were fine but the area between the concrete porch and the manicured lawn was a muddy mess. It was over a foot wide, complete mud, and a very serious hazard. There was no way possible for me to traverse between the concrete porch and the lawn safely. I thought maybe it was just because I had not asked to be in an ADA specific room since I booked it before my leg injury. Again, I found this was not the case. A co-worker and his wife were in an ADA designated room a few doors down from me. His wife is legally blind and requires a guide dog to get around. Their porch was in the exact same muddy, unsafe condition as mine. And it drove her guide dog completely nuts the entire time because even the dog realized it was an extremely unsafe situation and kept blocking her from going on the porch. It upset the guide dog so badly that she said the first night we were all there that her dog kept telling her they needed to go home all night because it didn't consider the surroundings to be safe enough. The dog would not sleep that night because it was worried about her safety, not because they were in a different surrounding but the condition of the location. Serious mic drop when a trained guide dog can even figure out that these are extremely unsafe conditions for anyone, but especially anyone with a disability. As someone utilizing the event space there I would say to consider if anyone in your group has any disabilities. There are no automated doors anywhere inside the lodge, including the restrooms for the event spaces. It was difficult for me to traverse the long halls and heavy doors to get to/from the restrooms. My partner had to ask staff multiple times to try to clear a wide enough path between tables, chairs, and other items so I could get through on my crutches, but also so my co-workers' blind wife could get through with her dog, as well as another participant with a wheelchair. I asked multiple times for staff to please move a heavy chair for me or remove an empty chair from my table so I could sit and I would just get blank stares. Even pointing to my crutches and explaining I could not do these things on my own and that's why I was requesting their assistance rarely if ever helped. Multiple times I found The entire staff and facility needs ADA training badly and I say this as someone who watched myself and several others who needed assistance just flatly get ignored by staff. Okay, so I feel like I've gone on and on about the negatives, which are pretty significant if you have any disabilities or need assistance. But there were several things I did like. First, the pool is saltwater and open 24 hours a day. So at least after I got out of a long day of work I could relax at the pool. The pool was the most enjoyable amenity. There were paths everywhere and the grounds were walkable even at night. I obviously wasn't walking the paths but my partner did and my coworker's wife with the guide dog had no problems on the trails. You do get beach access over at Margaritaville. Just make sure you go to the right beach by Landshark Bar & Grill. They have beach chairs there that are first come first served. They do not provide towels and you cannot bring outside food or drinks so plan accordingly. And lastly, you will more than likely see a lot of deer wondering the property. As soon as we arrived and drove towards the Legacy Lodge entrance we were greeted by a doe and young fawn. During the stay we saw so many deer of all sizes. My coworkers wife showed me photos of a large buck right outside our patio area.

This was my very first time visiting this establishment. I am not one to completely judge a business based purely on an unpleasant experience if I have one. So first, let me tell you that this property is pleasing to the eyes upon arrival. The staff was great, very polite, and very helpful. I was able to check in swiftly, and an explanation of charges was carefully explained. The receptionist took care with each guest. Valet is available upon arrival. I did see golf carts but did not inquire about the use of them. They have luggage carriers that resemble the ones you see in the airport. I am unsure if they have wheel chair services available for the elderly or disabled. There are multiple conference room spaces located on the 1st floor. The pool is easily accessible, and there is a food choice and spa in the hotel. There are multiple access points to view the lake, and fire pits with seating outside on the 1st level. There are other activities and businesses to visit within a 5-10min drive on the island. The rooms are nice with a rustic cabin decor and vinyl floors. Each room has a large chest of drawers, refrigerators, and keurig. There are no microwaves in the room. Now for the unpleasant portion of my stay. My stay was going well, until later that evening as I prepared for bed. While sleeping, I was awakened by the clicking of my door! Someone had entered my room unannounced. Quite shaken up, I notified the front desk, and they sent security to check on my well-being. They establishment showed concern and provided alternative safe accommodations. I am pleased that they acted swiftly, but I still have unanswered questions if I am to ever return to this Lodge again. This may have been an "unusual occurrence," but it has had a most unnerving effect on me.

Very impressed with this hotel! Jaclyn was amazing at check in. All the staff has been very helpful. The hotel is beautiful and has amazing views of Lake Lanier. We will definitely be staying here again!

Chairs had no cushions . Saw other balconies that did . Also coming apart ‍.

When my hubby and I arrived at check in, was told there's a 50.00 a day fee plus one for incidentals, didn't see that anywhere when I booked the stay. The desk person did say the 100.00 would be returned at checkout . The room a deluxe queen was decent however the plush robes listed with room amenities., were missing as were the balcony chair cushions, also no shower curtain liner just a very thin shower curtain , no big deal just odd they are missing. 2 nice sized comfy beds, nice bathroom with tub/shower. Closet is behind the bathroom door, flat screen with a few channels, plenty of outlets to hook up several devices. Free Wi-Fi. Pool looks nice. We wanted to go in the evening but it stormed and rained so hopefully tomorrow evening will be better. Had take out for dinner at Bullfrogs a couple floors down, nothing to write home about. We will probably go off the property for dinner somewhere tomorrow night. The pool is heated I'm told and saltwater, and is open 24 hours. Our view on our balcony is of the lake and some fire pits and some of the grounds, nice view. Update sept 11, woke up and water all over the floor in front of the mini fridge, leaking ‍. To pay over 800.00 for just 2 nights wasn't worth it at all. Won't be back !!! Next time will go to Helen, Ga for a mini getaway

I NEVER EVER get on here or anywhere and complain about stuff. That's just not m.o. The hotel is beautifully snuggled in a corner of Lake Lanier and the entire outside campus is clean and gorgeous! Inside is a little outdated but still nice. Nothing really to complain about. The first order of business when we arrived at the hotel was to bath my seven year old who had been outside playing all day. I got on my knee to wash her hair and I notice the floor was nasty. In every corner there was a collection of dirt and hair (see picture). That's fine, I can handle that BUT what I can't handle is being dismissed and not being able to heat my food up in a microwave. I went to the front desk to ask if there was a microwave I could use. Than older lady and guy were working on a computer. I asked if there was a microwave anywhere for me to use because there are not any microwaves in the rooms. The lady flat out said "No" and went back to the computer. The guy informed me there was not a microwave I could use but there would be in the morning when they were serving coffee. So..... we got Chinese food at 6pm and at 8 pm I had not eaten bc I was feeding and bathing my kid so my food was cold when it was time for me to eat. The staff here could have atleast heated my food up for me. I was standing right outside a restaurant when I was at the front of the lobby. I know this may seem silly to some people but it pissed me off! Period!

Nice rooms, lots of amenities and right on the lake. Everything is very expensive though! No close parking so be ready to carry your bags quite a ways to the entrance. There are car charging stations at the very end of parking lot.

Sooo disappointing. At almost $400/night for a Villa, I expected to check in to a clean room. That was not the case. The villas are located in 6 small buildings on the lake, and each building houses 3 rooms. You walk into the building and the carpets are so filthy, they look gray. Spiderwebs covered the stairway that led to our room. The door was sealed shut with a sticker that claimed the room was sanitized, so I felt a bit more at ease ... that is, until I walked into a dark and dingy room, turned on the lights, and saw the dust-filth infested, out dated, dingy accommodations. I took out my sanitizing wipes to wipe down the "most touched" areas they claimed to have cleaned. The surfaces were covered with a sticky dust that turned my napkin brown. I was so disgusted that I called the front desk, who offered to move me to a "clean" room. I wondered how they knew the new room would be clean since they simply handed me a new key. Hopeful, I entered the room to which they switched me. Not only was it filthier than the first room, but also, there were bugs in the bathtub, the paint was chipped off every piece of furniture, and it was evident that no one there took pride in the place. It's a shame. For the prices they charge, they need to revamp the entire place. Either that, or they need to hire a housekeeping staff that actually knows how to clean. I would have to be paid to stay here again. Even then, I would decline. Gross!

Mother/Daughter Retreat Nike Bags and room amenities

This place is cute and definitely a decent place to stay whether you are a family of 2 or more. I visited this past weekend for a mother/daughter retreat which was.... interesting, but let's break this place down based on amenities: Rooms: the beds are usual hotel beds, which for me are uncomfortable because they are extremely firm. I woke up every morning with a backache. If you like firms beds, then you're good. Otherwise, perhaps ask for an extra blanket for some extra padding. Our balcony faced the lake, but the trees hide the view, so, unfortunately, the view was just aight. We were also facing the fire pits, which are nice to have. My mother, aunt, cousin and I chilled one night by a pit when it was pretty cool outside. The room was clean, spacious and I liked the hardwood floors in there... you can see the dirt and hair if there is any. Breakfast/Dinner: Buffet breakfast is $16 (I was told). If that's the case, it's decent for the price. Waiters are there to get your drink order. The omelet and waffle stations were manned by one person. So prepare to be waiting between 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, cause it's crazy busy during that time. Grits, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, eggs, home fries, fresh fruit, pastries, etc. There was a good amount of food for anyone. But they don't put much seasoning in their food... including the dinner. I went on Saturday for the Seafood buffet and was extremely disappointed. I tried a little bit of everything, except for the crab legs. The crab mac and cheese barely had any taste. Even the alfredo was lacking in flavor. The tacos were probably the best thing I had, but they were just aight. Many of us at the table were surprised at how unseasoned the food was. I heard the dinner was around $52 pp. That's crazy! If the food was seasoned well, it would be justified. Bullfrogs: the restaurant downstairs was aight. The first time I went, I had the fish sandwich with onion rings. The sandwich had no flavor and the onion rings were kinda burnt. The second time I had the ultimate grilled cheese and fries. Sadly, that was the best meal I had during my entire stay there. Outdoor Pool: Because there is a HUGE water/splash amusement area, I would think most if not, ALL of the families with kids would be there. Which is dope btw. It would have been nice for them to have adult hours for the pool. Whether this is in the morning or evening. Mid-morning my family and I (all adults) were chillin by the pool after breakfast and this was nice until a ton of kids came out making a ton of noise. I'm not faulting the parents or place... I mean I have little kids of my own, but it's nice to have an adult only area or adult hours for those who don't have kids or are vacationing without kids. Just an idea. Tranquility Spa: I had the tall lady who didn't seem to be all that friendly. She did a good job giving me my massage. But I'm not gonna lie, in the beginning, I was trying to see if she could just massage the top of my back. I don't like getting fully undressed for a massage. It's so invasive and I can never get comfortable. At first, she was like, "I'm not able to give you a massage", but then she said she could massage my upper back for a few minutes. She ended up giving me the full 20-minute massage. But she didn't seem like she wanted to be there or something. She just wasn't really adding to the "tranquil" experience. My mother described her as an ogre. Not cause she was ugly or gruesome, but because of her attitude. The massage was good, but not good enough for me to go back if I ever visit again. They have some good tea tho! Valet people were superb! They were friendly and quick! Front desk people were nice and helpful. This is definitely a great place to hold a retreat or conference. Can't say I'll be back because there are so many resorts in the world, but I would keep this place in mind since they are so close to Charlotte.

Darling was amazing to work with, she helped me coordinate and adjust our numbers since one family couldn't make it. We were very excited to have a great meal! Upon showing up, we parked our cars in the lot and went in. They had live music in two different areas, and in the main space a giant buffet that spanned the outside of the space. Carving station, oysters and shrimp cocktail, cheese and fruits, desserts galore, and special touches like a cotton candy machine for the kids and a fresh fried beignets station. There was a bar set up outside the meal areas so we could get cocktails and wine by the glass we ended up ordering a couple bottles at the table. There was a lot of people enjoying themselves. The drive to the lodge was beautiful, it was a colder day but the sun was out and everyone got to have some great food and still enjoy themselves and the day. Thanks again to the team here, from the servers and runners to the hosts. We had a great time. Special shout out again to Darling for her help with this. I appreciated her catching the little details as we got closer to Thanksgiving I'll be back! Would love to play golf here sometime.

However, we were limited to staying in the small rooms in the main lodge versus the more spacious villas or lake houses. It also cost $100 per dog. Though the room was near an exit, it was also very annoying to have to walk down the hall to provide relief for the dogs especially because we/they are used to having a yard. The room itself was nothing special, not super modern or updated. Reasonably comfortable bed, pillows, etc. and a balcony. We were on the side of the lodge but did have somewhat of a view to the lake. There was a decent size fridge, a Keurig, but no microwave. You could adjust the thermostat but the AC/heating unit was so ridiculously loud. I did appreciate that they made it easy to access the back of the TV to connect our Fire stick, even providing an HDMI cable. The WiFi was free and not super fast but it worked. It was winter and rainy most of the weekend so we did not get to take advantage of many of the activities people come to Lake Lanier / Lanier Islands for. But was nice to see lots of deer while walking around the property. The resort offered valet or you could also self-park nearby. The only reason I would give this three stars versus two is because the conference amenities were very good. Even the food was definitely better than the average fare you'd expect in this kind of setting. My colleagues who organized the conference said how impressed they were with the service. I would recommend this venue for a similar kind of function but would not spend my own money for this.

Excellent Stay Marred by a Troubling Incident…read more Our stay at the hotel was almost perfect--until an unfortunate incident occurred that left a lasting negative impression. The Positives: The rooms were immaculate, modern, and comfortable. From the spacious layout to the pristine bathroom facilities, we couldn't find a single flaw. The beds were cozy, and the room was kept spotless. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a wide variety of options. The bacon, in particular, stood out as some of the best I've ever had, not just in a hotel but anywhere. The selection, ranging from yogurt and fresh fruit to pancakes and packaged muffins, ensured that there was something for everyone. Typical stuff, but it was plenteous and various. The Issue: Unfortunately, this top-notch experience was overshadowed by the likely theft of my AirPods. About an hour after checking out, I realized I had left them on the bed. Using my iPhone's tracking feature, I saw they were still at the hotel, so I promptly called the front desk. They assured me they would check with the cleaning crew. A couple of hours later, I called the hotel again. They said the cleaning crew hadn't come downstairs yet, but they said again that they'd check with them. This time, I noticed the location of my AirPods had changed to an address in a nearby town, Flowery Branch. This was particularly alarming as the address was a residential area, which suggested that a hotel employee might have taken them. Despite my attempts to get the hotel to investigate, they did not recover the AirPods, and the staff's responses were less than reassuring. I turned the matter over to the good folks at the Hall County Sheriff's Office. They even promptly dispatched a deputy directly to the hospital room where I was visiting my father-in-law. The location of the AirPods showed up at the house in Flowery Branch continually overnight. Magically, the next day (and over the next couple of days), the AirPods showed back up at the hotel when I tracked their location. Hmm. I wonder if the person who took them to Flowery Branch returned to the hotel for a reason. Perhaps because they work there. It's been over a week, and I've yet to hear from the hotel. The Aftermath: Despite the obvious evidence that someone from the hotel was involved, I never received an apology or even a follow-up call. The lack of communication and concern from the hotel has been deeply disappointing. While the hotel facilities and such were lovely, this incident and the way it was handled have likely made it impossible for me to consider staying here again. Final Thoughts: It's unfortunate that such a wonderful stay was ruined by an act of theft and the hotel's apparent indifference. This experience has not only tarnished this location for me but has also affected my perception of the entire Holiday Inn brand. I believe the hotel owes me something--at the very least, a phone call with an apology (empathy) would have been nice, even without an admission of guilt. I've prayed the Lord's blessings upon the person who stole from me (indirectly from my employer, as the AirPods are owned by the university for which I work). I trust that God will deal with the responsible party in the best way possible, as all his works are holy. I hope that the hotel management takes this issue seriously and implements measures to prevent future incidents. Meanwhile, I trust that the responsible party will face the consequences, whether through legal means or otherwise. It's a shame the waste that this theft created, when you consider my time, the time it stole from my family when I was busy dealing with this over the past week, my employer's time, the hotel staff time, the Sheriff's office time, and the cost of replacement AirPods/parts/shipping/etc. In the end, the thief doesn't even seem to have gained anything from their actions, perhaps having learned a lesson in the process.
