Candy wrapper left behind on shelf
Patricia S.

I gave this place 2 stars only because of the great front desk lady and the fact that they had a room with 3 beds. That was the only plus. I will say that the front desk offered to move us to another room but chances are if one room is dirty then all rooms are dirty mainly because it's because of poor housekeeping. The bedding was stained with blood, brown stains, and white stains. There were cigarettes burns in the bedding. There weren't enough towels. Also we couldn't figure out the shower so the lady from the front desk came to help us turn on the shower. In this particular room you had to pull down the tub faucet. The fridge, ac, and window were all leaking. There was a candy wrapper and a toy left behind that were pretty obvious which goes to show they don't do a thorough cleaning. Also a huge roach that you could practically toss a leash on a take for a walk. Wouldn't stay here again.

Almost new courtyard in the heart of Gainesville! Located in walking proximity of many restaurants…read moreand bars. Pretty nice building with few quirks. For example, hotel lobby is not on the street level but one floor up, with no specific signs. Parking is plentiful but is not complimentary. Internet does not work well even for elite Bonvoy members which is part of our membership! Hotel is new, but bathtub is straight out of 1950s. Bar is well stocked with lots of servers, but meatballs are straight out of microwave hot on the outside, and cold on the inside....etc. Most importantly - at the check-in point, I spoke to someone who could not spell. As she couldn't punch in my last name in the computer, she asked for ID which is fine. However, making a comment out loud "god lord is complicated" that my last name is complicated is not acceptable, and is offensive. It appears that this hotel is developed by someone who has financial means, and no clue about hospitality. Perhaps they should hire a competent general manager, and remove all illiterate hicks who scoff at everyone not meeting their preferred demographics!

If I could give a negative number I would. The parking garage smelled like manure. After we had…read morebooked a handicapped accessible room it was given to someone else. After a several hour drive and spending the day at the hospital we were looking forward to resting. All we got was a woops. They did refund our money. But I was seriously angry. It is not real fun to have to find a handicapped accessible room at 10pm. The last time we stayed there the shower did not work correctly. would not recommend this location.

We had been familiar with the are about 20 years ago and opted to just stay overnight to see how it had changed, etc. I did some research and opted to stay here, partly as I already knew the location. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. Check-in was easy. They have self-parking around most of the building and do not charge you for it. The room was fairly spacious. The entry hall was a bit of a choke-point versus the entrance to the bathroom, but it wasn't a real problem. The shower stall was also a bit narrow, but manageable. The room was dark at night and quiet. Despite the hotel's location on a main road in town, I wasn't really aware of traffic noise. The location is about 3 - 4 blocks from Gainesville's square. There are several restaurants within 1 block. If the weather is nice, the whole area is very walkable. Entry to the hotel is primarily off Jesse Jewel Pkwy, which is busy. There is basically a U-turn into the front entrance. However, there is a small spur road that also connects to the parking lot and alows easy access to the square. The layout is a bit odd, but once you see it, it's easy. Breakfast the next morning was pretty good - basically back to pre-pandemic standards. They had ham, scrambled eggs, various bread + toaster, a waffle machine, cereal, yogurt, etc. If I were staying in Gainesville again, I'd consider staying here.

The hallways looked…read morelike something straight out of a horror movie, with disgustingly dim lights that gave the place a creepy vibe. It feels like they have zero internal communication--despite my request for a noon checkout and the 'Do Not Disturb' sign, housekeeping started knocking at 10 AM like relentless insects. The only mildly redeeming factor (and I say mildly) was the front desk guy from last night who took the time to walk us to our room after we struggled to get the door open. But honestly, everything else was lackluster. The room was filled with annoying noises--the AC vents clicked and clacked, the refrigerator popped loudly every five seconds, and the floors were far from well-kept. The bed was decent, I'll give them that, but overall, this place was not it. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have absolutely no other choice. That was the case for us last night since every other hotel was booked.

Whoever owns this needs to gut this whole hotel. First issue:The main elevator does not work. The second elevator is in the very back of the hotel which is a long walk. Second Issue: We had to change rooms THREE times before we got a semi decent room. First room, the toilet was leaking all over the floor. Going to the second room, housekeeping left linen ON the floor outside the door. Even with it being on a bag that is NOT sanitary. Second room we had to figure out HOW to get in the room the door handle opens the opposite way and then the light covering is missing and laying ON the counter in the bathroom. The third room finally looked livable. But came back in my room to find a bug on my pillow!!!!! I will NEVER come back here!!!!! On top of the fact we are here for an event and there is NO heat in the large ballroom and they didn't even notify the people on the contract until day of and threatened to call the police because one of the contract holders was asking questions!!! This is just crazy.

We were given the excuse that the hotel was under renovation and apologized, but there is no renovation going on here. This quality Inn should not be open for guests. Being confident that the owners of this building would never stay here. In fact, I wonder if they've even been here. You get what you pay for some would say. I say we got robbed. The light was flickering over the canopy like in a horror movie, but again these things are not always a bad thing. The lobby is clean looking, but there is an odor. Walk past trash on the stairs and landing to check out the room and nope. Water damage is obvious, and the smell of mold/mildew. The beds feel moist to the touch and the bathroom had obvious black mold on the walls. Dead bugs, dirt everywhere. I told my daughter to grab her things and start reservations down a few exits as we pack up and I go to turn in the key and request proof of checkout. Was not given any paperwork and was told I had to call Choice for a refund. Called them on the way to another hotel that was almost sold out, but got a room. So far I've been refunded only one day of my two-day stay which has been taken out of my account. I'm waiting for a call about why it was not fully refunded. Forget renovations and just level the place and start back over.
