We came to Chino Café to celebrate my sister's 71st birthday. I live in Orange County, so this was my first time here. First, I want to make it very clear that the staff was wonderful. Everyone was friendly, courteous, attentive, and made us feel welcome. My review of the food does not reflect on the service at all. Unfortunately, I don't think I would come back for the food. I ordered the ribeye medium, but the first one came out closer to medium-well. They were very nice about replacing it, but the second steak was extremely thin and tasted like it had gone straight from the freezer onto the grill. I'm a big steak person, so I was disappointed. The salad was good and the baked potato was good, but I personally did not care for the corn at all. It had a strange taste to me. Overall, the staff and service were excellent, but the food, especially the ribeye, was disappointing enough that I probably would not return. I truly appreciate how kind and accommodating the staff was while we were celebrating my sister's special birthday. read more

I'll try and be as nice as possible when I say this, STAY AWAY THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. I brought my wife and daughter here for the first time today because 1. We try to eat at local spots and 2. We like to try new places. We were excited because the restaurant wasn't packed at all and we got seated right away, and they also had the NBA playoffs on. But to our dismay they girls never came back to serve us. We waited 10-15 minutes until we asked who our server is the girl said one of them and pointed at the 4 girls huddled together looked at us and kept goofing off. Needless to say we got up and left to a different establishment with way better service. This is a beloved restaurant in Chino. I've lived here almost 40 years and had never been so we decided to try it. The exterior is old and dingy and inside is pretty much the same. We didn't realize you put your name on a list in the "hallway" and wait to get called, so we stood inside. Nobody said anything to us, but greeted the group who walked in behind us and directed them to sign in. We put our name on the list first since we'd been there and waited outside along with other patrons. They then skipped us and called in two other parties behind us. I asked why we were skipped and they said a new hostess. But that didn't make sense since they literally skipped us and crossed the names off the list after us. We were finally seated and the server was very friendly, but she was spread thin covering a bunch of tables so we didn't get drunk refills and some of our order. The food was OK but it's hard to mess up breakfast. I won't return again. I don't get the hype, I think it's probably nostalgia for people. read more

Such a cute cafe with a cozy vibe! The staff was super nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The food was great -- the French toast was especially yummy and definitely a highlight. I also really enjoyed the hot cocoa, which was warm and comforting. I had a craving for some good chilequiles and I got them here at the chino cafe. The sauce they use is very tasty and the potatoes served with them were just as flavorful. Not to mention the service is amazing. I came in on a Thursday morning so it wasn't very busy but I had the best waitress. Craving satisfied 100%. Highly recommend! read more

Went in for the first time today excited to try this local cafe. Upon arrival we asked if we sat ourselves and the waitress told us to wait in the lobby. The restaurant was not full and there were many tables available. We waited for some time with no acknowledgment. We were trying to do local but the service made us leave to Mimi's. read more

My son and I came here for breakfast at 7:30 am. The place was empty. The only waitress that was working was friendly. My son got the California omelette and I got the number one with pancakes. They both came with hash browns, let me tell you I have never seen big ass hash browns. The number one was okay and the California omelette looked like the eggs were burn. The only good things about this place was the service. I don't think we will be coming back. For the price that you pay the food should be amazing, but it was not. For two people it was $50. Well... I have been going to this cafe since I was a kid... with my dad. The biscuits and gravy were always my favorite. I was craving some good pancakes & found Chino Cafe on Yelp... The pancakes looked delicious but have you every heard phrase, 'everything that shines ain't gold?' When I bit into the pancakes it was like malt o meal. The waitress was very nice and offered a replacement but they were the same. My son gave his omelette a 6/10. My fried egg was good but I nearly cut my gums from a bit of toast. Definitely not worth the money. I should have gone to Farmer Boys! read more

We stood at the entrance for maybe 20 minutes before an employee even acknowledged we were there. There was no designated hostess or clipboard to write our names on. Once seated, we placed our orders quickly and waited another 40ish minutes for our food to come. I have been here a few times, only because there are not a lot of decent breakfast places in Chino anymore and I will go here when I am on my way from Ontario to Chino for errands and will stop for breakfast. Service is ok. I will say that this establishment lacks the service, even when there is not a lot of people, they will have you wait for whatever reason. IDK if because they have been in business so long is why they don't care. I go to Corkys and Black Bear etc nearby and I do not get this treatment and the portions are a lot bigger. I feel they should work on their service because it is not welcoming at all. I don't know if I would go with "meh" or "underwhelming" for our breakfast experience. I ordered the breakfast burrito. It had eggs, cheese and hashbrowns. I chose ham as the protein. The dish was in drastic need of any seasoning. It was very bland. I added some of the salsa verde that it came with but felt that that also lacked a flavor punch. The burrito was served with a side of tortilla chips. They were stale. My daughter ordered the kids pancake. She opted for the hash browns instead of egg, as she is not a fan of eggs. She liked the hash browns. The pancakes had a weird taste to them (I tried them after I saw she wasn't really eating it). They at least deducted the price of the pancake from the bill. I felt like the prices were way too much for what was brought. (A glass of orange juice being almost $5). The workers were all pleasant. read more

it's Sunday December 5th, 2025 My wife and I went for brunch this afternoon, waited 25 minutes to be ansked for our orders anfter being seatedXmas. We both ordered NY steak and eggs with a biscuit w/gravy instead of hash browns. 15 minutes after ordering finally, server returns to advise us they ran out out biscuits. so we opted for hash browns instead. 10 minutes later she comes back again and now advises us they ran out of NY STEAK's as well and would swap for T-Bone. mind you this amte 30 minutes after being seated and still haven't even gotten anything to eat. finally the food is brought out. We asked for scrambled eggs and got raw runy eggs. Our has browns were either burnt to a crisp or still raw!! The server comes and asks if e everything is good and the rest advised her that we had enough abd wee be leaving cause we weren't about to pay a dime for a raw, burnt meal made up of items we otigi didn't want, We've eaten here once before last year and had no issues whatsoever. whatever the cook and server have going on in their personal lives, they need to keep that at home. The cook should be ashamed for allowing such crap to get brought out to a customer. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE EVER RETURN AND HAVE ALREADY STARTED LETTING OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN CHINO ABOUT IT! Came in for breakfast started off by ordering 2 orange juice but sent them back because we didn't like the taste of it , had a rotten flavor to us. We told our waitress and she told us it was freshly squeezed but we returned them and got a coke and raspberry tea and some water. Servers were all nice , my Daughter got a Belgian waffle the Works Side of hashbrowns and two sausage patties, I got The club sandwich with a side of zucchini. All tasted great. read more

I came to this restaurant because they are still open during the pandemic which is very convenient! I was having lunch with my mother and my tias. We had a great time. A great, welcoming atmosphere is what you can expect here. The service was excellent. Ellie, the owner, is very professional and very kind. I ordered the Wet Burrito with Carne Asada. The burrito was good but kind of greasy. Next time, I want to order the breakfast because I heard the breakfast here is really good. Iced Coffee was delicious. The restrooms were very clean and stocked. They have an air freshener in there so no nasty smells! Overall I plan on coming back. They practice social distancing, they provide hand sanitizer at the door, and staff wears masks & gloves. read more

If you order the french toast combo with eggs don't get the strawberries. The waitress ruined a perfectly good pair of french toast by dumping a bunch of strawberry water on the plate. My eggs and bacon were sitting in a puddle of pink water. I had to ask for a second plate to save them from drowning in it. French toast was beyond a soggy sponge and couldn't eat it. She tried to replace but I wasn't feeling it. Wife enjoyed her eggs with gravy and biscuits. Feel bad because they're small business but we aren't coming back after that. Still left a decent tip because we know how it goes but that's it for us. The chef should probably get some of her tip though since she messed up his plate. read more

This place has really went downhill since before the coronavirus. They got rid of all their hard working staff and just hired whoever they could. Back in 2013/2014 while sitting at the bar, we witnessed a new employee pick up some strawberries that fell from a bowl he had in his hand that he was filling with fruit from a lower refrigerator unit by the bar. When it fell he just picked them up & put them back in the bowl & served it to the customer (them not knowing that it was dropped on the floor) we headed out the door (we never returned again). We heard stories that the owners treated their employees horribly & yelled at them. The food is very mediocre & nothing to write home about. There are plenty of places in Chino that serve homemade & FRESH homestyle food, this place is NOT it. Horrible service & horrible staff, horrible owners to let this kind of nastiness happen. Steer clear of this place, go somewhere else. I didn't write this review at the time because I didn't have the heart. It was because we have several older friends that used to go or visited this place that had a bad experience & posted theirs. So I decided to post the real reason why we stopped going in. Very nice space. We had a group of 9 and were easily accommodated. Hostess was pleasant as was our server. A very nice selection of meals and the portions were generous as well as good. I wish they had a private room so that our conversations did not disturb the other patrons since we were sometimes loud as it had been awhile since we saw one another. I love love love this place! I was looking for a place to study for an exam but also eat some breakfast. I can across this place as it was close by where I was at the time. My waiter was really sweet and checked up on me a couple times while I was eating there. I got the omelette with hash Brown and toast. It was so delicious! The hash brown was crispy.
