Chinitas is a great new addition to the Water Street area - industrial decor and patio/rooftop seating with a funky Japanese fusion menu. Sharable apps, sushi rolls, and fresh tacos round out the menu, and the seafood items here were really solid but they also have veggie and carnivore options. Service was attentive and helpful about making suggestions about what to order. I came in with a friend and we shared the al pastor egg rolls, the bulgogi tacos, the spicy garlic edamame, and the hoke poke roll. We also ordered 2 of their desserts, the yuzu flan and churros. Across the board, everything was pretty good - eggrolls were creative and crispy with a great spicy sauce, tacos were a creative standout, roll was fresh and creative with poke as a topping, edamame was as expected and desserts exceeded our expectations - the yuzu flan especially was creamy and lightly flavored while the fresh churros came in a large portion topped with a berry sauce and whipped cream. Great attention to detail with the execution of each dish and the plating, it was fun to eat here and share the dishes. We're already planning another return visit to try more. read more

My wife had been wanting to go to this restaurant for months, and after our fantastic experience, I regret not going sooner. Chinitas Tapas and Sushi, located on Water Street in old Henderson, is to die for. Everything about this restaurant is done right. Excellent location, excellent food, friendly staff, and a lively atmosphere. They even have a DJ inside the restaurant keeping the party going. He's good too! We had the kimchi chorizo fried rice, crispy pork wontons, elote ribs, and a spicy shrimp tempura roll. My personal favorite was the kimchi chorizo fried rice, which is prepared with kimchi, pork chorizo, onions, and a sunny-side-up egg - delicious! The drinks were also excellent. There are numerous drink creations available, as well as a complete bar stocked with all of your favorite spirits. I highly recommend this Chinitas next time you're in the area and want to grab a bite. You will not regret it. read more

Absolutely love this place! It came highly recommended by a family friend, and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible--every dish we ordered was a hit! We had the birria egg rolls, fried wontons, beef bulgogi tacos, a couple of rolls, yellowtail, and the citrus sashimi--10/10 across the board! The cocktails were just as impressive. I tried the blackberry mojito and the strawberry cucumber limeade, and both were perfection--so refreshing and well-balanced. The brand new restaurant has a modern decor with an outdoor patio facing Water Street as well as a place to have events on the second floor with a full outdoor balcony. The first thing I have to address is how friendly the staff was. We were lucky to have a fellow Louisianian as our waitress and she was phenomenal. We started off with the pork wontons which were delicious. For my meal I had the Japanese lasagna roll and the Philadelphia roll. New to the Water District and absolutely creative and tasty. Combining Mexican food and Sushi does not seem like the right combo but they make it work sooo well. A little pricey, we spent $50 each for lunch. We got four sushi rolls to share, each one was great and the Hawaiian was our favorite. For a non-authentic sushi restaurant, we were delightfully surprised by the quality of the fish. We also got egg rolls and the birria tacos. Egg rolls are 10/10, wish I got a photo but those are a MUST try. The birria was cheesy and warm but we felt needed some salsa or an extra kick to it. We also did some cocktails and red sangria. All of which were not too strong, but strong enough you could feel the slight kick with each sip. Highly recommend everything on the menu so far and will definitely return to try more food on the cantina side! read more

We really love this fun local Water Street spot where you can get different choices between Mexican, Japanese or American and a great happy hour. Beet Tostada is one of our faves. Sweet Yellow beets with a mild wasabi slaw. It's light & fresh. The Sliders are underrated and what we consider one of the best mini burgers around. Get it with the Togarashi fries. I cannot understand why there are so many good reviews! Our experience was horrible. Started with flat beer. A "spicy mango" margarita. The foooood was terrible. The sliders were RAW. Cauliflower the house special was basically inedible. Do not order the chicken flatbread. We basically ate bites of this stuff and the server could care less. Stopped in here this evening. The space is really cute with indoor outdoor seating. Had it not been so windy it would have been a perfect day to dine outside. We were seated immediately as it was still before the dinner rush. We had a great waitress named Jannice. She was very friendly and an overall great server. We ordered four items Quesabirria Tacos, Elote Ribs, Hawaiian Roll, and a salmon roll. The elote ribs are an absolute must! 10/10!! The Quesabirria Tacos were ok. It reminded me more of a French dip taco. It's not authentic but it's not a bad find. The two sushi were not to our liking. Both had sauces on them that weren't fantastic and didn't over compliment the rolls. Jannice had asked if we wanted a box and when we said we weren't impressed with the sushi and didn't care for it, she had it removed from our bill. We were shocked bc we intended to pay. This put her customer service over the top which is why we would come back and try some other items off the menu. Definitely ask for Jannice and tip her well! She'll take care of you! read more

The food keeps pulling us in! The sushi rolls are super fresh and dynamic! There are also other dishes that are a knock out - quesaabirria, elote ribs and the bulgogi fries! Their drinks are strong and yummy. The place is cool- their decor is very urban cool. Their service is always a toss up. I understand they're busy- but man it's rough sometimes. They might have too much staff and they're just hanging out or they have too little and spread too thin. In return, we wait, wait and wait for our food. Wow! Came here to eat last night AFTER the parade. We were seated quickly and we were watching girls set-up cleaned tables for ten minutes. After we observed a bunch of tables still waiting for a waitress, we decided to leave after 10 minutes without anyone ever coming to our table. We liked the vibe inside. It is a great big place. Tried this place on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. Seated right away by the friendly hostess. Our waiter came over right away. Told him it was our first time so he made some recommendations. They had TVs playing the game on almost every wall so there isn't a "bad seat" in the house.
