    Shrimp fried rice
    Tenetria W.

I like the Walmart in the area, and decided to look for Chinese food nearby. I order to go, over the phone, and it was ready in 15 minutes. You can dine in or not, it's enough space. I ordered the lunch beef and broccoli, and a small shrimp fried rice. The beef and broccoli was tender and cooked well, but it had a tangy taste. The paper wrapped chicken was well marinated and tender, but it reminded me of pork. The fried rice is okay, but not your typical. All in all, I'd go back if I'm in the area to try other things.

What caught my eye was the vintage eatery when I looked it up on yelp. That got me curious . I love anything vintage . We were looking for something fancy just because it's Chinese new year . I always celebrate Chinese new year. I love to celebrate all races, especially if that means I can celebrate and eating their delicious food. These taste buds are worldwide baby , plus I love a good lion dance & a red envelope ! As much as this place didn't look super fancy , I was hoping the food was gonna make up for it . Thank God, it did! The food was amazing. If I'm ever in the Montebello area, I will definitely go here again.

It was kind of musty when I walked in. I was immediately greeted. There were not too many people. I had my mind set on egg foo young. I got a combo with egg flower soup, fried shrimp, egg foo young, fried rice, and chow mein. I also ordered a side of paper wrapped chicken and sesame balls. I was in for a shock! The portion size was enormous. I finished the soup, egg foo young, and 2 wrapped chicken. Took everything else to go. Everything was tasty. I never got an opportunity to finish the chow mein. I did eat all the sesame balls! My favorite! I would be back but with reinforcements so I can taste their food too. lol.

My husband and I ABSOLUTELY love this place. It's a place we found together and we are finally back for the second time. We love the service, we love the tasty flavors in the food, and I absolutely love the Honey Citron and ginger tea. We look forward to coming here as our date night for our tradition once a month.

3/18/23 My mom and I have gone for years and decided to try it again after the pandemic slowed down. We hadn't eaten all day and lunch specials are over at 3pm and we just made it. Our waiter was a gentleman and he was very nice. Took our order and we asked for no MSG (My mom is allergic). The inside looks the same although it was stuffy in there and after sitting there for 30 min it started to get hot. People were coming in for orders to go and only 3 tables with ours were filled. Lunch special came Egg Flour soup. It's my favorite of all time but this one was like drinking water with a drop of egg and a few green onion slices. We asked the waiter way it was so watery and he openly admitted they had to cut some costs. So disappointing. I ordered #9 Chinese Greens with beef, Egg roll and white rice. My plate was huge. The rice was rather dry like it needed a little more water to cook in. I had to put soy sauce on it to make it better. The beef with greens was ok. Beef cooked perfectly but it seemed to lack flavor. Seemed like the cornstarch and broth it cooked in was the only type of flavor it had. The chicken eggroll never seems to amaze me. It was delicious and I wish I had just ordered the appetizer of that instead of the meal. Mom got #10 Mushroom chicken, Eggroll and white rice. She said the mushroom was from a can and was rather rubbery, not fresh at all and the dish was lacking the flavor. Now to the people who ate there and continue to eat there I won't ever tell you not to go. My family has gone here even before I was born so we know what it used to taste like. For us we just won't come here anymore.

It's pretty close by but also the quality of food is pretty good for how inexpensive the lunch specials are. You have to pay for the drinks, but so far I haven't seem a limit on the refill (I typically refill only once though but I've also been able to take the drink togo). I would recommend getting the salt and pepper pork chop - my dad says this is literally better than most places we've gone to. I think they season the batter, which is how its so flavorful. We also typically get the eggplant, which comes in a huge plate and comes with rice. My dad likes their curry but I'm not super excited about it. Its good, but not exciting, if you know what I mean. Service is typically pretty good. They move around pretty quickly and food typically comes out pretty quickly too. I would spend about 50-60 dollars and its enough food to last two people maybe an additional 2 or 3 meals, especially since most dishes come with a dish of white rice. The rice isn't great, like it's kind of dry, but its free so no complaints here.

The last few times I've ordered the kung pao chicken, it barely had any veggies. It used to come with a mix of colorful bell peppers, but now it's mostly onions. The sweet and sour fish used to be lightly battered and nice and meaty. On my last visit, it was heavily battered and you could barely taste the fish. I'm not sure if they changed chefs, but the difference in quality is definitely noticeable. It's disappointing because I really like the staff. They're always friendly and provide great service. I'm hoping the food goes back to how it used to be.

The beef is thick yet somehow tender, and the sauce is perfectly glazed over the meat. 2) I also love the seafood chow mein ($15.95)! Their new breakfast special includes congee, a dim sum item, a side, and a drink. I do like that there are now more options for the breakfast sides. Unfortunately, the congee tastes different now. This used to be my favorite spot for pork and black egg congee, but my last order was watery and bland instead of thick and flavorful like before. I did enjoy the pork siumai and shrimp spring roll from the dim sum selection. I also tried the pineapple bun, but I expected it to be softer and more moist. The portion was also pretty small. I like that most of their drinks can be ordered unsweetened, but they only offer Sweet'N Low instead of Stevia or Splenda. I also recently tried the kung pao chicken and didn't enjoy it. The sauce didn't taste like traditional kung pao sauce, and the dish had very few vegetables and mostly onions. It's unfortunate because the food quality and flavor don't seem as good as they used to be.
