It might sound obscure, but this 1-star feedback is based on the fact that Chinatown Kitchen forgot to include chopsticks and their demeanor about it. Eating Asian food without chopsticks kills the spirit of the experience, at least for me. I called the restaurant immediately, and asked if the driver could return. Restaurant rep "instructed" me to use my own "spoon". Also no napkins. No discount from them either. Good thing Yelp returned my tip. read more

I gave it 5 stars but keep in mind, it's 5 stars among Chinese take out. Everything here is great, my favorites are house special fried rice (with extra egg) and it's very traditional none of the yellow rice crap everyone is doing. I also always order the spare ribs and they are top notch. Lo mein, General Tao's chicken, and all of your favorite dishes prepared fresh and flavorful. This one star is for their delivery service .... I originally ordered because of the chicken reviews...I hate when chicken is rubbery ....so I was excited to try the broccoli and chicken. Unfortunately they aparently do not deliver because it never came and they never called. Might give the food another try as there aren't many good spots by me....but I will have to wait long enough to forget this experience. I cannot stop coming to this establishment for the best take-out and delivery Chinese food. The owner, Shirley, has always from day one been so courteous and polite over the phone and makes sure the food is perfectly cooked. Our family and friends love to order from Shirley on a weekly basis. We cannot live without it, especially the Shrimp Broccoli and Pork Lo Mein dishes. The quality and quantity of the food is unbeatable and more than generous. That reminds me that one of my favorite dish, chicken wings and shrimp fried rice is and will always be my number one choice at this establishment. I am a big fan of chinese food and am always trying new places in the area. However, I have had issues in the past of low quality chinese food or even finding bugs in my food so I am extremely picky. Its hard for me to trust new places with no reviews to go by but I gave this place a shot when they first opened. The woman who answers the phone is one of the most friendly people I have ever spoken to at a restaurant. She even asked me how I was feeling once when I had to alter my order to softer foods because of some dental work. She prepared something for me that was not even on the menu without any additional charge because of my specific needs for softer foods. Aside from that, the food is very delicious and very fresh. The quality is more comparable to a sit down chinese restaurant and not just a take out place. I trust them and am always excited to try new things on their menu. They also seem to deliver my food 5 minutes after I call. I am always surprised by how quickly I hear the bell ring after placing the order. They also have some variety on their menu (like different kinds of wings) that are not on all chinese menus. One item needs work, but it could have been an "off day".. it was the scallion pancakes. They were very dry and overcooked and came without any sauce (probably an oversight because it was their opening week) Other than this, no complaints! By far my favorite place to order from in the area! I also would like to add that I just called to place an order for lunch and the girl on the phone remembered me by my number and address and asked me how my tooth was!!! So I ordered from here taking into consideration most of the great reviews. To start the lady who answered the phone was so rude. Second, I got my food delivered almost 2 hours after I ordered. When it got here it was cold. I was missing a Snapple and when I called the restaurant back the lady yelled at me saying that she put it in the bag, then she called the delivery man and he told her it was in his car. So he came back. To put the cherry on top, my shrimp with broccoli was raw. I could only eat the broccoli because ALL of the shrimp was more gray then orange. Called to place an order but was greeted by attitude ,any who I then placed my order and asked for the total ,it was like I shouldn't of asked- nothing but attitude like I'm not entitle to know what's my total. I was first drawn to them because of their $1 and $2 menu of great appetizers, etc. Then I realized this is the best take out Chinese food I've had since I moved to NJ. Great food, and friendly service. And though they are a little too enthusiastic when ringing our doorbell (three times in rapid succession, then you have 4 seconds to get to the door until they ring again) it is very fast delivery. We haven't had Chinese food in awhile because we have yet to find a good place here. After we found this place on yelp we decided to give them a try. I am glad we did. When I called the woman was super polite on the phone. The food came in a timely manner, even in the snow. We had egg rolls, steamed pork dumplings, sesame noodles, boneless spare ribs, and chicken and broccoli. All for $24! Food tasted super fresh and came in large portions too.
