Love love loooove their location in MO and this one! You can just taste the flavors off the grill! My favorite is the shrimp fried rice. We've been coming to this locations a couple times now, food so good we keep forgetting to take pictures lol My husband ordered the beef fried rice and steamed dumplings and I had the shrimp fried rice and sesame chicken. Portions for the fried rice is okay, they're more generous on the meat but still delicious. We ordered in and did online order and both times were fast and quality was great. They're friendly. Marginal at best. We've ordered a couple times and are always underwhelmed. I got the Moo Shu "pork" this time, as it's a favorite of mine and I'm always excited when restaurants offer it. It was 90% cabbage, maybe 2 egg pieces, and a few pieces of meat (that seemed like beef) that were tough and too big to fit in the pancakes, and about 1 Tbsp of sweet bean sauce on the side. No mushrooms, black fungi, bamboo or any other veggies in it. Just a tray full of bland cabbage. Think: Beef and Broccoli, except 1/2 the beef, and only cabbage. The sauce was a generic brown sauce, not your normal dark moo shu sauce. The pancakes were hard and crusty, not salvageable at all. Will definitely not be ordering this again. Husband got the General's Chicken which was tough and chewy. He wasn't even able to eat 3-4 of the pieces. Seemed like it had been pre-cooked, sat out and then reheated. Our son got the sweet & sour chicken. Just fried meat, zero vegetables with it. Just boring. As far as the restaurant, it was even less impressive. We went in to order. They didn't even have prices posted IN the restaurant! All the prices were blacked out on the menu on the wall. I had to ask for a menu (I posted here) which was different than what I'd seen online and different than what was posted in their restaurant. The place definitely needs a good cleaning, and it would help if they'd just take out the empty cardboard boxes sitting around. The second star is for their speediness, and for being open on Monday, but that's not enough to motivate me to return. I'd rather skip dinner. read more

I called DoorDash and they said it was the restaurants issue. I called Chinatown Express back and they didn't answer. I called Jesse, the delivery driver from DoorDash and he was an ass. Started eating here after my usual place started tasting like cardboard (see review), usually carry-out but some dine-in. NEVER had a wrong take-out order! So, AJ spent the after-school afternoon helping put up Christmas lights at his Grandparents and wanted Chinese for dinner. Called and was greeted warmly and friendly, ordered our usual: Orange Chicken Dinner, General Tso's Dinner, Chicken Lo Mein Dinner (we split this) and have plenty of leftovers for the next day. Everything was prepared perfectly, HAD GREAT FLAVORS and as I sad still had some for tomorrow. I also get different combos or dinners depending on what's craving and they're all just as good, I'll start writing more from now on. Fastest take out West of the Mississippi! Is this the best Chinese food in the city? Oh, heck no! But the food is pretty edible for fast food Chinese, the portions are huge, prices are great and the staff are nice. They also do delivery! A couple of minor annoyances: -For dine in customers, they serve the food on styrofoam plates. I see room for the use of more environmentally-friendly materials. -On their paper menu, they have a "skinny" section where they claim that dishes with shrimp and chicken are cholesterol free. Um, there are no cholesterol free critters on the earth. If you want cholesterol free, you have to go vegetarian. They do have plenty of veg options. Overall, though, I really like this place for what it does, because it serves a purpose and does it pretty darn well. read more

My dine-in lunch experience was very good. The price was very reasonable ($5.25), the service at the counter was nice, and my order was ready in about eight minutes. The portion sizes were generous. There was a good amount of tasty chicken with an excellent variety of veggies. The egg roll was especially good, and the fried rice was okay. The dining area was Spartan, but clean, without background music. My only gripe is that the water cups were ridiculously small. Overall, very nice. read more

still looking for a Chinese place to replace what was my favorite, Wok and Roll which closed down unexpectedly and suddenly for reasons unknown. Tried Chinatown, got a lunch combo, General Tso's chicken with fried rice and eggroll. Pretty good for the price, the rice was only ok, generous portion and the eggroll was good. General Tso's chicken is fried chicken nuggets and here the breading was kind of soggy, not crisp but still made for a good lunch. about 6 bucks so a good value. Will give it another try but get something different next time. Stay tuned. read more

Now a 4 Star review. Their food has improved leaps and bounds. The service is fast and friendly. Large portions and well cooked. We've eaten here 4 times in the last month they have improved so much. Just found a bug in the second layer of the shrimp fried rice I bought for my daughter. As we were playing it, I saw it first luckily cause my kid might never eat again. To add insult, the guy at the restaurant argued that the insect was alive, and must of found its way into my closed quart container, thru the stapled bag. Next call to health department. read more

Four stars for basic Chinese takeout?? You're damn right! Here's why... They deliver. They deliver very fast. ((when the driver comes my three year old always says, "hi China food man!" The delivery driver is the kindest older gentleman and he always smiles and greets my daughter back warmly. This makes daddy happy!)) You can order and pay online! I was really pleasantly surprised with my delivery meal from Chinatown. After reading all the crappy reviews, I was prepared for mediocre food. I requested extra veggies for my lo mein, and low-and-behold, they actually put in a ton of fresh veggies! The veggies weren't frozen or sad looking, which was a shocker. The lo mein itself could have had a bit more flavor, but it wasn't overly greasy. Crab rangoon was on point, too. They delivered relatively fast and I was overall impressed. This is one of my favorite Chinese places in my local area. It would receive a better rating and review of they had better customer service. I always call in my order for pick up.. It goes like this every time... Chinese lady: "Hello?" Me: "I'm calling for a pick up order" Chinese lady: "Ok!" Me: "I need a large Sesame chicken please" Chinese lady: "mmmmhhmmmm" And that's it. Had I written this review six months ago I would have given them at least four stars but our last two experiences have not been as good. What I love about this place is that they deliver and while their food is not gourmet Chinese food it's pretty good standard Chinese at a very reasonable price. We love their sweet n' sour pork, fried rice, wonton soup, hot n' sour soup and crab ragoon. Their beef and broccoli, general tso, mooshu pork and low mein are also delicious and have great combo/lunch deals. I also love that they have online ordering but last night their website was acting funny and when my order was delivered they wanted me to pay cash even though I had put my credit card info in the online order and they didn't get the crab ragoon on my order. Their location is literally less than five minutes from my house and usually our food is delivered in under 30 minutes but that has not been the case the last two times. Last night it took over an hour and the time before that over 2 hours. While it's nice to have the delivery, I may just have to deal with the hassle of picking it up (with kids) next time. read more

Quick, tasty, prepared just how I wanted it. Chow Mai Fun (thin rice noodles) with veggies is my go-to dish wherever I can find it. While it's a no-frills meal, most places either don't add enough vegetables or don't add enough spice. Chinatown got it right. The mixed vegetables with garlic sauce was also great. Perfect portions for the price as well. I know - veggies, rice and noodles is bland, but somehow Chinatown manages to differentiate itself from other Chinese takeout places. read more

Ordered delivery order this evening. Everything came as ordered and was very tasty. Only reason didn't give 5 stars was they were a bit late. I ordered on line and asked for 6:30 delivery; about 10 til 7, I called as we hadn't received the order yet. But, the gentleman on the phone, who was very busy, but, very pleasant, told me it was on the way and within 5 minutes they were ringing the bell. We will definitely be ordering again. read more

Both the quality food and the service has signifcantly declined over the past year. But I can confidently say that my most recent experience at Chinatown Express WILL BE MY LAST! Intially I was put off by the dumplings filled with minty mushy mystery meat but that unpleasant experience was quickly overshadowed by the 3 strands of hair found in the orange chicken. As far as the other dishes go...who knows? Why would you want to try eating anything after that? After calling to alert them of this disturbing discovery they were neither quick to apologize or to refund the charges and the call resulted in them *accidentally* hangin up on us. Worst delivery experience ever. I ordered online and this is what my order read: Vegetable fried rice Peas carrot egg water chestnut ONLY. I do not want anything else in the rice but peas carrot egg and water chestnut. If it is wrong I will send it back. So after I ordered I called to see how long it would be and I was told 30 mins. It took them 1 1/2 hours! The delivery man gave me a bag and as I walked in my house the bag broke and spilled all over my floor. They had put so many things in one paper bag that it wouldn't hold. then after looking at the food I realized it was incorrect. I called and asked for them to come back and bring me the food I ordered and the woman on the phone tried to question ME! After telling her more than once that I needed the food I paid for she said that the correct food was on it's way. 20 mins later I got a call from her saying that she spoke to the cook and he told her that he made the food right!!! I was upset and told her that it shouldn't be a discussion with the cook and I would gladly show whoever brings my correct order the food and my receipt. Finally an hour after I ordered the second time, my food arrived and when I tried to take the food the man pulled it out of my hands and demanded that I give the other food back (even though they are going to throw it in the dumpster anyway) SO it took 1 1/2 hours to get my food the food was incorrect the bag split because they were too cheap to use two and there was food (including soup all over my floor) then it took 30 mins to convince them to bring me my correct order ....then another hour to deliver it the delivery man ripped the food from my hands and took food that could have be eaten by someone in my family the next day just to throw it away 3 hours waiting fighting and cleaning to get the food I ordered.
