This is my first time ever coming here since I moved into the apartments next to it and I for the orange chicken and chow mein and it was pretty good it was hot and fresh. The orange chicken was ok not the best but next time I will probably get the sesame chicken instead, the guy that rang me up was pretty cool it was only me in there. I think the price should go down a bit it was 16$ which is kinda crazy but reasonable. Definitely will come again read more

Went in late tonight and everyone was so warm and welcoming. The food was the best Chinese I've had since I moved to KC area. The counter guy who was super cool suggested the Mei Fun noodles and I was glad I took his recommendation. Holy crap. I'm used to mediocre Chinese food. This was not terrible. The soup was bad but whatever. The fried rice was ok. The szechuan chicken was literally mostly onions. I kinda like onions and after reading several reviews complaining about nothing but onions I figured it was picky eaters. Nope! Nothing but onions lmfao! Kind of strange honestly. This isn't a perfect restaurant but what's cool is, they deliver to my house. No one, and I mean no one expect Pizza Hut delivers here. The food is pretty good. When it's delivered (excited just to have a place that delivers), they have a large plastic bowl of sauce and chicken separate. I didn't mind, but the chicken in all 3 bowls was the same as sweet and sour chicken. that's not saying anything bad, we just didn't ask him which was which. I'm used to sauce on Chinese chicken, maybe it all looks the same before the sauce? I didn't order any sides, and it didn't come with any. The servings were enough for 2 nights. My son's sweet and sour had a few green peppers and onions. But there's a box to type no veggies if you don't want them. I paid extra for broccoli, and got a little extra. This is my first time trying King Wok, since the kids and I wanted to try someplace new for Chinese. I ordered General Tso Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, a double order of Crab Rangoon and an order of Egg Rolls online through their website for delivery. Although the order confirmation that was emailed to me stated it would be delivered in 30-45 minutes, after an hour and a half I called to see what the deal was and was told it was on its way. I guess it must've just been a standard time stamp they send out with all the delivery orders, and about 10 minutes after I called, the food arrived. Here are my not-so-great first impressions: * The food was warm, but not hot. It wasn't to the point where I needed to throw it in the microwave, but it was enough that the crispiness of the Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls had paid the price for it. * Even though I ordered (AND PAID EXTRA FOR) fried rice, neither of the orders showed up with anything but white rice. * When I ordered online, I typed in the "comments" section to please include a menu. We didn't get one. Also, there where no eating utensils (of any kind), condiments, fortune cookies or napkins. So, now onto the review: The Beef and Broccoli was about what you'd expect. It's nothing to be remembered one way or the other, but the broccoli was fresh, the beef was tender and the brown sauce was flavorful enough to keep from having any complaints about. The (non-fried) rice was a sticky clump of madness that was more than likely cooked the day before and would be better used to roll sushi than served as the side to main course dishes. The Egg Rolls were probably better during the first 45 minutes after they came out of the fryer, but since I didn't get the chance to try them during that window of opportunity, I'm just guessing at this point. It's kinda tricky to review them in the state that I received them, because it's really a combined flavor+texture experience that's needed. In the end, I'd say they were okay but not nearly flavorful enough to counterbalance the slightly doughy wanton shell. The Crab Rangoon kind of suffered a similar fate. Not quite as crispy as I'm sure they once were. The flavor wasn't bad, though. For my tastes, I like Crab Rangoon to have a good balance of savory and sweet. Too savory and it takes the joy out of the whole thing. Too sweet and I feel like it's trying to be a dessert. All in all, I thought they struck a good balance, even if they landed a little more on the sweet-side. The kids ate the General Tso's, and from what I'm told it was "okay". They said that even though it was drenched generously in sauce, the chicken seemed over-cooked and not very tender. There were quite a few fresh broccoli crowns mixed in with the chicken, but they were cursed with the same (non-fried), compressed, rice madness as me. The price for everything wasn't cheap enough to make up for the looooong wait, or the state of the food when it finally showed up. I might try King Wok again if we were going to be eating at the restaurant or carrying it out ourselves, but there's just no way I'd order it again for delivery. read more

It was everything I expected. Made to order Chinese. Nothing fancy, it isn't exactly a dirty divey place either. They were doing some construction so half of the dinning area was unusable. The food was on par with something you would get from a mall or quick stop type Chinese place. Great portion size and good solid taste. The Kung Pow chicken was a bit on the salty side but I just mixed in some of the rice and it was fine. The photo showed fried rice and an egg roll but instead they gave me steamed rice and no egg roll which was a bit of a disappointment. They seem to have their regulars who are friendly with the chefs. Prices are good and the service is very friendly with no language barrier. While it was good I think I would rather try a new place instead of repeat my visit. I wouldn't avoid it because of my experience but I believe I could get a similar experience elsewhere with the chance of it being better. read more

Let me break this down for y'all. 5:45pm I placed my order online for delivery. Let me also note that this was not a huge order or anything. The total was about $20.00. 7:17pm I called the restaurant to see where my order was. I had received an email confirmation when I placed the order over an hour before, and the confirmation states my order should be ready between 30-45min. Some guy answered the phone saying the order was out for delivery and rushed me off of the phone. 7:46pm I called again because the restaurant is only a 6min drive or so away from my house (I guess I was an idiot for not just picking it up myself in the first place). No one answered the phone. It just rang and rang and then ended. 7:55pm Called the store AGAIN and a girl answered. She said they didn't even have my order in their system. She took down my order and contact info, and said it would be out soon. 8:53pm CALLED THE STORE AGAIN. The same girl from before answered, and guess what she told me... THEY DIDN'T HAVE MY ORDER IN THEIR SYSTEM. Then she started talking to some customer who walked in, and completely ignored the fact that I was still on the phone. She tried to take down my number and address, and repeated it back to me incorrectly at least four times. She finally asked what I wanted, and I told her to just cancel it and refund my credit card. She said she would have to call the online company to get the refund. So my boyfriend and I are both cranky... hangry you could say. We are about to just cook something up ourselves, when suddenly the f****** doorbell rings, and it's the g**d*** delivery guy with our order?! I am so frustrated that this place is the only Chinese delivery place around here. I am NEVER ordering from them again. It should NOT take over three hours to get my food, and customer service should not be so shitty. End rant. read more

And I had such high hopes. I am proud to be a supporter of local businesses, especially restaurants, where I work and live. Since King Wok is very near my work, I decided to try it for the first time today. As I sit here with the General Tso's lunch special in front of me, I am sad that I cannot endorse this place beyond the fact that it is ultra cheap. This is a great place to go if you have little money and no taste buds. I got the fried rice, with egg roll and egg drop soup. The soup had to have come out of some Sysco like industrial can. It has the consistency of motor oil, and a strange unnatural orange color. The egg roll is all right, but obviously pre made and pulled out of a box in the freezer. The main course is more of the same, the sauce is like syrup with no sign of having been freshly prepared. Chicken is mushy with generic breading etc.... I feel bad for the owners because the shop looks like crap, half of the restaurant seating area is dedicated to storage and there were 0 customers when I went in around 1 to grab take out. Ended up eating about 12 bites before I could take the assault to my mouth and stomach no longer. There is nothing else except for fast food and chain restaurants on that side of Independence, so it is such a wasted opportunity. And it also pisses me off because I always like to have a good Chinese option close to work. Maybe they will read this and get their shit together. read more

Amazing food..everything..always very hot.and fresh...packed very well to go with cardboard inserts all throughout the bag to support everything..never had a wrong order..The soup,rice, main courses..everything is fresh and flavorful....they are so friendly there to us when we go in.
