Typically don't leave bad reviews but this place deserves it. I ordered pineapple chicken and didnt think about a nut allergy. I called the restaurant for an hour. No answer. So I sent an order for a beverage with a time description saying I had a concern about an item that could have nuts in it. left my phone number. No call. I did not pick up the drink. So I get to looking at the food. Trying to figure out if there were nuts. I found something waaaay worse, Mouse droppings. No joke. I attempted to go back the following day with the food and show anyone that would be there and I was asked to leave. I contacted health dept and hope it will get taken care of. The quality of caring service, the quality of their simply and amazing food, and more. It has always been a Huge bonus how convenient their restaurant is to our family's homes as well! The food here use to be excellent but suddenly changed for the worst. My chicken fried rice came swimming in oil(gross)twice. I don't know what's been happening their kitchen but, one night I asked like I frequently did, to add curry powder to my Mei Fun Combo noodles(to create Singapore Noodles)and the owner yelled at me that all of a sudden she couldn't sprinkle anymore. Recently back from Houston. I had been here several times a couple years ago and enjoyed the food for the most part. Today, I ordered General Tso chicken white meat only and combination rice noodles. I kid you not, the general tso chicken smelled like urine- no exaggeration. The chicken weren't chunks like you'd expect, they were like thin strips and highly breaded. Food was extremely soggy by the time I got home- 10 min drive at the most. Combination rice noodles were okay but only had two shrimp out of the entire plate. The entire meal went into the trash. Took my grandson here after picking him up on his last day of High School. We went through the drive through. Our food was prepared quickly and was all good and portions were of good size. We both had sweet and sour chicken it was good and we got quite a bit of fruit and vegetables with it. read more

We always get good food and good service from Cathay. My husband likes the fried rice and I like the rice noodles. The building could use some renovations and updates but overall we haven't had a bad experience here. They also have a drive thru which is helpful during COVID. read more

This is the worst Chinese food I've ever had and Panda Express has given me food poisoning...TWICE. The "lo main" was actually just spaghetti noodles with soy sauce. SPAGHETTI! This is another place I would have never tried if not for the good reviews on Yelp. I'm glad I gave it a shot. From the outside this place doesn't really inspire much confidence. It just looks like a forgotten little dive on the backwater side of Independence Ave. It's tiny on the inside so if your party is any bigger than 3 people, get your order to go and eat it at home. The prices are certainly reasonable. I didn't see any item on the menu that was over $6.50. I ordered the General's Chicken, some Hot & Sour soup, and an order of crab rangoons. The soup was excellent. Some places make that soup too salty, but Cathay Express got it right. The rangoons were still warm and the filling creamy when I got them home. Just right. The General's Chicken is easy for a Chinese restaurant to mess up. Lots of places make the sauce too sweet so that it tastes like syrup over chicken nuggets. This place did it right. The sauce was sort of tangy like I've never had before but I really liked it and the chicken was tender and moist. All three dishes were just right. Bottom Line: Don't be spooked by this little shack along the road, the food is great and you can't beat those prices. Cathay Express will be my go-to place for Chinese food now. read more

I found some metal scraping in my food wtf??? I've never had this experience before. This is sick, dangerous and nerve wrecking! I opened the container bowl, dumped it onto my plate and noticed this little dangerous piece of metal . Before this happened we ordered DoorDash from the same place and they brought us a completely different order. My husband has to leave and replace the order with the one we previously ordered. In case you ever wondered... back in the day this was a little tenderloin joint. When it went out, all of E Indep took a sigh but luckily Cathay came to save the day. This has been my favorite Chinese Food place for over 15 years. The same people run it. The little kids who used to play toys in the booths are now behind the counter taking orders which makes it really special for me since I'm no longer close to it often. Everyone was raving about how good the Crab Rangoon was and I am a huge Crab Rangoon fan myself so I got some along with an order of Garlic Triple Delight. The Crab Rangoon was stale and I had to have them fry me a fresh batch. It came up only a minute later so I was a little suspicious as to whether or not they actually gave me a new order like I asked them to.
