At ~5 for their lunch portion of sesame chicken which came served in a bowl with fried rice, lunch for 2 was around $11, ready in under 15 minutes and absolutely delicious. Granted, it's one of those cheap americanized Chinese restaurants so you won't find elaborate and unique dishes on the menu, but if you want consistently good Chinese food that satisfies those salty/sweet/umami cravings, look no further!!! I have to say that I was really surprised at how good this was for a quick lunch. The house special mein was excellent-- soft noodles, hot, and it tasted fresh. The small size was a perfect amount for lunch. The service is friendly and there are a few tables inside where you can sit. This little spot deserves another visit and bigger challenge for sure! I look forward to trying it again. Update- I had to move from 4 stars to 3 after my 2d visit because the general's chicken was not up to par. Excessive breading covered the chicken. In the six minutes, it took me to get home and eat, the chicken had turned soft and was disappointing. I had to ask for MY change, I had to ask for MY receipt and when I asked for plates she nearly launched them at me. Later as I'm eating my food, I'm analyzing the plate and that's when I seen and noticed 2 TWO very small bugs in my broccoli and gravy . We ordered takeout from here this evening, and it was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. We tried both the steamed and fried dumplings, both of which use the same base materials -- including a ridiculously thick, doughy wrapper that just isn't how a dumpling should be made. The shrimp fried rice was an odd yellow color and seemed to contain no egg -- I'm fairly certain they used one of those saffron spanish rice blends and dumped in some bits of vegetable and sad frozen tiny shrimp. The moo shu pork was mostly over-salted cabbage and came with stiff, plasticy wrappers. Finally we had some general tso's chicken which was overly breaded and more mushy than crisp. We ate perhaps 1/4 of the food and threw the rest in the trash can (which sucks on multiple levels). read more

Since we've moved back to Indy China Wok has really changed the food isn't as good as it was the rice was undercooked and the chicken had been dipped into the hot oil just to warm it up it was very dark and dry on the inside put it this way it was awful the sweet and sour sauce was very runny and the barbecue ribs need to be taken off their menu very stuff it was a waste of $28 dollars never again I've ran my own catering business so I know when you recook something just to warm it up and that what was done with the chicken and the ribs I can't describe what they taste like I've never been so disappointed as I was today. This place has been consistent since the 90's. The food is always fantastic. It's generally takeout restaurant but they have plenty of seating to dine in. General Tso's is top notch, Mongolian beef is , and chicken/brocalli, but it's all good gere. Best grills. The soups are excellent. read more

Ordered carry out on a weeknight over a holiday break. Been here many times and consider it to be a good "cheap" option for Chinese food. Our kids like the sweet and sour chicken, my Mongolian beef was a nice change from my usual Sesame Chicken. On this occasion I got home with 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered. Owner said he hadn't heard me order the third item and I had to drive back a second time to get our last dish. (Ask for them to read back your order before you hang up.) First time in since Covid hit and closed down a lot of small businesses. As of Aug the board of health had zero violations with a score of 89, so I figured good time to go back. I called in a order and arived about 10 min later. They have signs up to social distance and have removed half their tables. Plexiglass is up across the front counter. Everyone was wearing masks although two cooks had them off their noses. I ordered my usual beef and broccoli and crab rangoon. It was all really really good. Could have been because I haven't had it in 6 months. I'm glad they have been able to stay open. Suport your small businesses. Wear your mask ( properly ) from nose to chin. Social distance and wash your hands. This isn't going away any time soon. read more

There has been times our fried selections have been a bit over done (sweet and sour pork and chicken wings) But, great takeout option as their non fried food is consistently good overall. Every now and then I get a craving for Chinese food. You know, the cheap kind. They're all called something different, but have you noticed that the menus all look the same? Does the Chinese government control the menu design and content? I was at a friends house and was in the mood for.. you know.. cheap Chinese food. My handy-dandy Yelp app told me one was only a quarter mile away and even gave me the phone number. Those Yelp people make it SO EASY, don't they? The meal: fried potstickers, veggie egg roll and vegetable lo-mein. This is my "go to" cheap Chinese meal. The verdict: fried potstickers were.. uh.. "gummy." They weren't bad, but I've had better. The mixture inside was enough to scare me a bit too. Potsticker sauce covers up even the most questionable filling though, and I almost ran out. Veggie egg roll: hot, greasy, delicious. Cursing myself, I ate the whole thing while it was much too hot and should have waited. A cheap Chinese must! I skip the pork egg roll and opt for the veggie one instead. I think they taste better, and they don't have pork in them. Veggie Lo-Mein: not bad/not good. It was what I expected, but after devouring everything else, I honestly can say I didn't eat much of this. Now I understand why they put two fortune cookies in my bag.. the $10 meal easily could have fed two or perhaps even three. Unlike other Chinese places, China Wok doesn't offer delivery. I saw him give a freebie to a customer due to their (cashier's or cook's) mistake. Has dine-in seating. About 4 or 5 tables-for-four, and a couple tables-for-two. Dine-in food is brought to your table and served on a reusable type of plastic dinner plate, but the cheap plastic utensils, sauce packets and napkins are self-serve. My Moo Goo Gai Pan was good. Ambience was standard. Cleanliness up front was okay, but the men's room could have been cleaned better. Overall, the place needs some detail-cleaning that a regular mopping just doesn't get, like some grunge on the molding along the floor (typical lack of long-term cleaning maintenance that I see at this type of place.) Prices are good; they haven't gone up much since the last time I was there a few years ago. I dined in during the dinner hour, and there was a steady stream of take-out customers, and no other dine-in customers. Not worth going out of your way for, but these kinds of places are like the McDonalds of Chinese cuisine. Nothing spectacular, but formulaic enough so you know what to expect. read more

My Sister was the one that put me in to this places years ago. I have ate Chinese Food at many places over the years but China Wok by a long slide is the best place in the city and the best I had ever had. Stopped in to pick up a quick bite for lunch. Lo mein was ok, once I added 3 packets soy sauce to it. There was nothing hot or sour to the Hot and Sour soup. Egg roll was just again ok, of you added a lot of duck sauce to each bite (I used 2 packets of duck sauce on one egg roll). Co- worker said her fried dumplings were rubbery and tasteless, as was her shrimp fried rice. Worker taking orders and bagging them had a mask on, but the other two wokers, preparing the food didn't.
