You have got to try the sesame chicken in this place. It is very delicious and even has pineapples. Chicken tenders here are not that good unfortunately (plain). The space is really small, and only has two table with four chairs each as well as three lone chairs. They usually play classical or Asian music in the background. Talk about a real gem! I was in the mood for some chicken wings and fried rice. Yelp lead me to this local spot. I was immediately greeted by the front counter woman. She was super friendly and even promoted a lunch special. Head on shrimp at a great price! I definitely added that to my order. So glad I did. It was amazing! My order came up to $22. After I paid I was given a free 2020 calendar from the owner's daughter! She had to have been about 3 years old. I felt so welcomed for that very bit of short time. We have ordered from here once--we recently moved to Bloomfield and do our grocery shopping at the Stop & Shop across the street, I went inside to grab a menu for future reference once and this is the CLEANEST chinese take out place EVER!! The staff also was super friendly and looking to help. The food we ordered at a later date was good--not great. The chicken with string beans and shrimp with broccoli were tasty and fresh. The fried rice was alright. The steamed dumplings could have used more filling--lots of dough and very little meat. I know they deliver but my boyfriend picked up the food the one time we ordered and still was shocked that they keep the place that clean all the time--the staff was very very nice and apologetic that the food wasn't ready on time when he arrived as they had received a lot of calls in the meantime. He said they had a flat screen tv to keep him entertained while he waited so he didn't have a problem with it, especially because everyone was so nice. Food is appropriately priced as well. We'll order again for sure, but will probably still look around. The take out places in Bergen County were fantastic so the prior bar was set pretty high! read more

Called them right when they opened at 11Am to place an order for delivery to my job (literally 5 minutes away from their location). They said they would be there in half an hour, which was perfect because I take my lunch break at 1130. I had to call them 3 times to check on the status of my delivery. Between the delivery driver being "on the way" (45 minutes in) to all of a sudden his car not working (60 minutes in), I asked for a refund as I would not be able to eat during my lunch, and the guy hurried me off the phone. Finally at 1230PM, after my lunch break was already over, after I had waited an hour and a half!!!!!!! (90 MINUTES for chinese food!!! unheard of!!!!) the food got here. I'm unable to eat it and needless to say, I'm never ordering from there again. A dove or a pigeon could have delivered my food faster. Total BS. read more

This was the first Chinese Restaurant that I ordered take-out from when I moved to NJ. And I must say it is the best. Everything that I have ever ordered has been delicious. So far I have ordered BBQ boneless pork spare ribs, fried rice w/ roast pork, chicken wings, wonton soup, steamed pork dumplings, and sesame seed chicken. Whenever I order, I always order two different dishes, because I am greedy and I like variety. Plus the food is good too. And since the portions are nice, the food lasts me more than 2 days. Since I moved to the other side of Belleville (near Washington Ave etc.) they just take long to deliver. But come to think of it, when I lived around the corner, they took long too! LOL. I must say that they are always busy. Which is indicative of the good food. What I do like is that some how they save your phone number, so when you call your address automatically comes up and you do not have to tell them again, unless you move. LOL. Which is good for people who like to order. Customer service is good too. 4 stars b/c they need to hire more than 1 delivery guy to keep up with the orders. read more

Ordered General Tso's combo platter with lo mein delivery was very quick, the chicken was crispy and flavorful with just the right amount of sauce. It came with broccoli, watercress, and carrots. Overall, I'm impressed with my first order of General Tso's alone... I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food because I always feel bloated after like I ate something too greasy or loaded w MSG. Well Chinatown has changed my ways. Their shrimp with broccoli is so fresh and delicious. Their veggies are always tasty not blan. In fact when I suggested this restuarant to my coworkers they all said it was by far the best Chinese food in this area. All agreeing it is always fresh. I just ordered wonton soup and shrimp toast from this place.......NEVER AGAIN! The shrimp toast was greasy, burnt to a crisp, and the pieces had little to no shrimp paste in them. The soup...UGH! Usually when I order wonton soup it has a pork meat filling in it. I don't know what kind of meat was in these won ton noodles but it wasn't pork and I wasn't taking any chances. It was a very dark "meat" and it actually stained the inside of the noodles. The noodles themselves were VERY thick and large and I couldn't eat any of it. They did give a free soda (an Aldis store brand soda). Most restaurants if they give a free soda will at least give you Pepsi or Coke or some name brand soda. I called to place a delivery order for the first time. Based on the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. Why not, I really wanted Chinese food. Well, I was immediately turned off, by the way the lady answered the phone, she was VERY rude and impatient. I simply asked her if they had a certain dish, so instead of simply answering my question, she scolded me for taking up her time, as she had another call coming in and said "what is it that you want!" As I was placing my 2 small order with her, she kept rushing me and sighing on the phone, after she took my card number she just hung up. Regardless how great the food may have been, after she hung up I called back and simply asked her to cancel my order, told her she's rude and that I did not care to eat their food. Her response was, "what?" so I simply said it again, cancel my order, your f***** rude, i do not care to eat your food so she hangs up on me again. 5 minutes later the owner or manger called me to apologize and tried to give me an explanation for her behavior. I told her that I did not appreciate the attitude over the phone, when i simply just asking if she had a certain dish. If she was too busy to answer my question, she could have asked me to hold while she took the other call, and i would have held, but she didn't. The person who called me back kept apologizing on her behalf but at that point, i was already in the middle of writing this review and disgusted with this place. THIS PLACE SUCKS! They may or may not get your order right...maybe they need an English lesson or two. Today they got my order wrong (chicken/broccoli/rice) and when i tried to take it back so they could give me what i asked for, they refused to take it because i ate 2 pieces of shrimp and instead of getting what i paid for, I had to settle for just broccoli and rice. We all know they wouldnt have gave the food to someone else so i really dont see what the big deal was. They wouldve thrown it away for 'sanitary reasons' . I was overly furious because they wouldnt take it back. The reason i tried the shrimp was because i didnt wanna make a fuss and return; they messed up but i thought maybe I could give the shrimp a shot. The shrimp was terrible, and the way they handled the situation was even worse. Apparently it wasnt right for me to eat two shrimp and get what i asked for, but its right they charge me like 6$ for the wrong thing i didnt even like!!!! They clearly messed up and instead of apologizing and trying to make up for it, they made me feel like a bother and wrong for trying to get my moneys worth. They definitely lost 6 customers today including myself, and i hope they lose more. Dont come here if you cant handle your order being wrong and youll have to deal with it. For the most part the food is good (except for a hair i found in my chicken one time) , but at the expense of them trying to make you look stupid and cheating you in the process of buying it. I know im not wrong. I was wrongfully cheated and i hope a lot of people see this and are aware the next time they eat at this establishment. My advice to you is to repeat your order several times and slowly, that way theres a chance theyll get it right. And ask them to repeat what you said! There's 2 main Chinese food places I order from in the area. And I feel like I always have bad experiences when I order from this one. This place records your phone number so they know who you are and where you live if you order for delivery. And I don't want to sound weird but I feel like they just don't like me for some reason at this point. I tip well every time. But anyway, onto my review: so tonight, I call in and ask for a beef lol mein combo. I looked at the website on their menu (http://www.chinatownbelleville.com/catalog/alldishes.aspx) and it says the beef lo mein comes with a side of either soup or an egg roll. So when I call to order, the woman on the phone says "that comes with an egg roll. Do you want anything else?" and I respond by saying "well I went to your website and it says I can get wanton soup is that okay?" and she responds with literally "*sigh* ok I don't feel like arguing with people tonight. So you want beef lo mein with wanton soup? What else?" and I respond with "I'm sorry... Can I get a can of coke with that please?". And the order went through with that way. But I was just extremely disappointed with the reaction I received. This isn't the first time I've been treated this way from this establishment. I figured I'd try ordering from them tonight but every time I do, it always backfires. And I really don't want to sound paranoid but I feel like they just don't like me and I don't know why at this point. Last time I ordered from here previously, I got a sesame chicken combo and a can of coke. And it arrived after an hour (I live less than a mile away), it was slightly cold and I had to reheat it, and the chicken was burnt and it felt like they gave me the chicken that had been sitting around for a while that they recommend and ended up being slightly overcooked and slightly burnt.
