Gummy noodles and cold chicken very chewy !!!

I am not sure what happened to this restaurant . The last year has not been good. i have not left a review but i need to now The cold chicken app was terrible . Don't know what kind of chicken it was or if it was . Drunken noodles with pork was a gummy mess . The owners are sweet but i can't continue to eat this food . Please do better and give the customers better quality ! Sorry

Affordable Szechuan restaurants More like a takeout place Solid flavor and reasonable price Will come back whenever I crave for some spicy food

The inside. I waiting for my food on a small table for 2

Got take out for dinner in a Friday. It's on the corner of a busy intersection. The small parking lot is convenient but I zoomed passed it at my first drive through. The owner, chef, father is the only worker. 1.5 if you count his son who is very young. The inside will make you want to get your food to-go. The food is legit. The spiciness and numbing peppercorn is throughout the sauces. The food we got was $40 but he could easily charge for more. The food is that good.

My kind of place. A hole in the wall off the beaten track. Learned about this place on Yelp. Good thing. I rarely take Schuyler to I 280 and unless you know about the place or are stopped at the light, you would never know it was there. We stopped in recently following our walk at Dekorte in the Meadowlands. We ate in but this is more of a take out place. About three tables and the only heat to be found was in the food and probably by the stove. We love Sichuan food. Spicier the better. You get that here. Owners, husband and wife, handle the orders and cooking. No english is spoken. We pointed at both menus provided and the gentleman headed back to the kitchen and prepared everything to order. Spicy short rib potatoes, cumin lamb and dry fried string beans. The short rib dish and string beans were outstanding! Very flavorful in addition to the mouth numbing heat of Sichuan peppercorns we enjoy. The lamb dish was just ok. Lots of chilies, onions and cumin but the lamb didn't taste like or look like lamb. We've had much better versions of this dish elsewhere. Again, there are two menus here. Be sure to look at both. An excellent first meal here. Looking forward to trying more dishes.

Careful - if you blink you might miss this place. It was cold afternoon, and my PIC and I wanted something spicy. After checking out Yelp, we found out about Gem Bistro. This is a very small business - cash only. 99% of their business is take out. Walking in, I noticed toys scattered on the floor; they belong to the owners youngest child, who was playing on one of the tables. We were quickly attended to. This was some of the best Szechuan we have had in a long time. Very authentic! Not much to look at, but amazing food.

I had seen this restaurant a couple of times so decided to give them a try. It is a small place, with four tables that seat four people, and a couple that seat two. One of the side walls is covered with printouts of a number of the dishes, which can be helpful for those that don't know what some of the dishes look like. There is only one person working both the register and the tables, so patience is appreciated here. Did I mention earlier that I was cold? We walked over from the parking lot under the highway (free on Saturday nights) and was very chilled by the time we entered. Cold and hungry, we ordered lamb with cumin and ma la pot chicken. My companion ordered snow pea tips and vegetable mei fun. To start, we split an order of pan fried vegetable dumplings. The waitress checked to be sure that we wanted all that food for two people-the ma la pot chicken alone is big enough to split between two people (or one VERY hungry person). Reassuring her that we wanted all that food, we settled down to wait. The dumplings came out first, and we are still trying to decide what the filling was comprised of. Carrots, cabbage and....daikon? Not sure, but it was delicious and increased our expectation for the rest of the meal. Next came the ma la pot chicken and I immediately understood why she wanted to confirm our order. I definitely was not finishing all of that in one sitting. The chicken had some lovely crunchy bits around the edges and while the dish itself is dry, the chicken was not. The ma la flavor filled my mouth and warmed my stomach. Lamb with cumin is a great dish to pair with rice, and half a bowl of rice was gone before I even blinked. My companion noted that their vegetable mei fun was flavorful and not oily although the snow pea tips could have been more tender. Overall, the meal was flavorful and a prefect choice on a cold night. I need to come back here and try out a couple more dishes that I usually order, and try a new one or two (spicy and sour potato, shredded???). Yes please!!

However, the appetizer bar and sauces always help to elevate the hot pot and this is one of my favorite locations because of how much they offer. I will definitely be visiting again when I'm back in the area.

Wow! What a new experience for us! Means I have seen Hot POT places many times across the shores,…read moreand though they don't give a vibe from outside (IMO), but once you step inside, it's a whole different world. Kearny KPOT has almost ~13K reviews on Google with a 4.9 rating, which means just wow! So we decided to go there instead of our nearby Parsippany location. The first thing that disappointed us was the waiting time. They only take reservations for parties of 6+, and we ended up waiting about 70 minutes, with a kid along with us. Since we had already driven 35 minutes, we decided to stick it out. We got the A2 table. Our server, Pickel Rick, explained the whole Hot Pot + BBQ concept. We chose both options together--and the whole table has to agree on the same setup (so one person can't do only hot pot while another does only BBQ...Come on, they are smart too Hot pot was $32 and +$5 more and you can have both= means $37 per person + tax... The BBQ grill lets you control the heat, and the induction keeps your hot pot soup warm. Ordering is all done through a tablet on the table. This is an all-you-can-eat thing, any meat (Pork, Beef, seafood, chicken, Lamb) for BBQ... and you can increase/decrease the temperature of the BBQ. So it's all sorted out! Induction is there to keep your soup/pot warm, order any type of noodles (Ramn-Rice-Pho to add in your soup with all veggies, dumplings, and whatnot, so keep ordering from the tab they give you to order. They have a big selection of meats, seafood, veggies, and sauces. The quality is decent, and the food comes out quickly. The hotpot broth has good flavor, and grilling the meats at the table is enjoyable. It's basically a "cook your own food" style, so it's fun if you like that kind of thing. It was a fun experience, ordering chicken/prawn/jumbo prawns/ lamb/ dumplings = putting it in soup or into BBQ platter... some got less cooked, some were well, and some I am gonna call "well done" We were there for about 2 hours, which is actually their time limit. They even mentioned you get a small refund if you leave early (first time hearing that!). Also, if you're celebrating a birthday with a group of 6+, the birthday person eats free. That's a nice perk! Great, hearing this first time... There is also a sauce bar station - for all sauces, fried rice, Fries, and Fruits Service can get a bit slow when the place is packed--we had to wait for forks/spoons at one point. But overall, it's a fun place to go with friends or family, especially if you like trying something different.
