Close up picture of a dead bug on a countertop near the sauce-crusted ketchup sauce pumps
    Tiffany N.

I have been here for 10 years. This is like the McDonald's of buffets. If you're looking for good food and cleanliness, go somewhere else. If you're looking for a good deal for a bunch of edible food and you don't care about anything else, I still wouldn't suggest this place but maybe it'll suit your tastes. Price: $15 per person, but can be cheaper for elderly and kids below a certain age Cleanliness: Some tables have mold. You can see it growing and festering there for months. Oh and the food countertops had a dead baby cockroach just laying there. I tried to discreetly take pictures of them. Either way, I don't think many people care about that here considering how cheap the food is. Some 'clean' plates are dirty, blatantly so (it will be obvious), so just check the plate before you take it. Food: I mean, I enjoyed it especially for the price. Very limited options though. I recommend: fried green beans, siracha chicken, dumplings (tastes like the ones from Walmart frozen aisle but properly melted), clams, broccoli stir fry. First off, don't eat the sushi here. You'll get a stomach ache. Fruits can be mushy some days, others not. Fried rice is just rice mixed with melted frozen veggie bits and chow mein is just lukewarm, boiled noodles with some bits of boiled cabbage. The white fish they serve is just a baked fish and the other fried fish they serve is okay, just pan-fried but salty with little fish meat and more bone. Deserts taste dry, like battered cake powder. Everything else is either soggy, contaminated with some dead bug, ridiculously salty, really oily, or all of the above. Service: They are all very sweet people. Polite and endearing to me. Only thing I will say that was questionable is that they once gave me a lollipop some time ago and once in the car, found out the it had already expired. Either way, I admittedly am biased for this place because of its sentimental value. If you're looking for a good meal, not a good place here. But if you're just looking to stuff yourself with more food at a cheap price and you don't mind the sometimes less than subpar food and dead bugs and mold littering the nooks and crannies (or even in plain sight), then go for it.

Absolutely worth the price. My favorite were the beef ribs and Korean bbq beef ribs. The rest of the food is good with good variety especially the seafood options. Friendly staff, not sure what the other fuss is about. They deserve more stars. It's not the finest quality but it's decent quality and tasty for the price, a modest step above fast food Chinese for the price of fast food these days with the advantage of all you can eat. Perhaps they've made improvements, not sure, but for what you pay, it is a 5/5. For the lower reviews, perhaps go eat at a finer restaurant, but you'll be paying double the price. Will come back.

Throughout all the ice cram there was specs of I don't know what.

Nasty. I don't know if it's because me and my partner came later at night but regardless of the food being cold, the flavor was nasty. This place should be closed for safety and cleanliness. Where the rice was it look super dirty. The chowmein was literally spaghetti noodles. I never ever complain about places but this place was NAAAUUSTY. There was a person who also complained because the food was gross and had to pay for a lot of people.

They don't clean the feces out of the shrimp, all shifts call this deveining that they don't do here.
    Joel S.

They don't take the feces out of the shrimp before they put it on the buffet, it's called deveining that the cooks are supposed to do any good Chef knows that.

    Salad bar was pretty good

$15 for a buffet that includes a soda. Food selection was small compared to other buffets. Salad selection was great. Food - very low selection. For being a Chinese buffet they didn't have fried rice! They just had spaghetti noodles and called it chow mein :/ Very very small buffet section. Food was bland but they have all the condiments to flavor it the way you like. I saw teriyaki chicken, fish, mayo chicken, fried chicken, spicy chicken, beef broccoli and a few sushi rolls. Service is good. They always keep the drinks refilled. For $15 it isn't bad to just have a quick lunch

Tilapia, green beans, nasty rolls, and salt and pepper shrimp

I think this place is good for what it is. You get more then what you pay for. Selective food choices are actually not bad and pretty tasty for what it is. We came in at 3pm, so we were able to get the lunch price and we're able to try a little bit of the dinner at 330pm, and I would say that the dinner items are a slight above better then what they serve at lunch. They have a good amount of seafood dishes that are good, but I would stay clear of their sushi rolls and sashimi. The rice on the rolls are super dry and the sashimi is really gross (not fresh at all). I would come here if you're craving that typical Chinese buffet food where it's actually good and a little dirty inside. Someone once told me the dirtier it is inside, the more tasty the food is. Haha. Overall, I think this place is pretty standard and is a slight above a 3 star.

    Delicious Spaghetti mushrooms potatoes broccoli

Delicious variety of food , veggies lovers o meats lovers your choice. Sushi variety as well. There are 2 types of soups here: crabs meat and sour mushrooms soups. My favorite is sour mushrooms soup with tofu. Great service and ambiance. You can finish with a good coffee. Thank you for the staffs to be here daily.

I loved that the food was not too salty nor too sweet. Some times sweet n sour ribs are too sweet, but they did it just right here. Same goes for the beef rolls, some places add too much hoisin sauce so the rolls are too sweet. It was perfect here! Service was good, staff was friendly even though I ordered via phone. Food was ready on time and was still warm by the time I brought it home. For a Monday night, it was a packed house. That's always a good since. Everyone seems to be enjoying their food. The food is so good! I've seen ppl compare to DTF but the food style is similiar to restaurants like northern cafe. The string beans are a must. They are perfectly fried with great garlic flavor. Their beef rolls are also really good. The diced chicken is another favorite because it's not too oily and the meat to batter ratio is perfect. I'm already craving it while writing this review!

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing.
