This place just isn't the same anymore. All the recipes seem to be bland. They used to be packed with flavor but now they taste watered down. They stopped selling the homemade fried dumplings and began serving the same fried dumplings you can buy at Walmart which is a mistake. Im tired of placing huge orders for my family and feeling dissiappinted after we eat. Like that wasn't worth $50. We tried china star again last week because lack of options nearby.... went in to pick it up. This is our go to Chinese take out (and done in bc my kid loves eating in) spot. I'm super picky about Chinese take out and this is the only place in Springfield that I will go. There is nothin exceptional about the decor or the service but it's fast, delicious, consistent and satisfying. I go about twice a month and I am never disappointed. read more

Best Chinese take out in the County! When it's Winter nothing like theit Hot & Sour Soup!

Saw an ad in a magazine that claimed this was a "Springfield Best Choice" restaurant so decided to take 4 adventurous eaters along. Realized when we pulled up I had been here before with a soldier friend from the base nearby. On that day it quickly became apparent that I would be ordering my food seperately because the guys all wanted bland basics and I wanted hot spicy pungent food. Thats what we got today. Ordered Mongolian Beef with added spice...perfect. Crispy tofu in spicy sauce...excellent. Hunan style pork and vegis...terrific. Mixed seafood in creamy sauce (mild)...outstanding. The "everything" fried rice fantastic. Crab rangoon tasted like crab and the eggrolls were huge with real meat! This is as close to authentic as you will find in SPF. I would have never walked into this nonassuming hole in the wall place. We ate everything...nothing left to take home! Order at the counter and they bring to the table and FAST...under $60. Not since my travels in Singapore or Thailand or even Sydney have I sat and slowly devoured everything on the table. Would I drive from Peoria to eat here...no. But when in SPF give it a try. No more warm buffet Asian food when there is a place like this nearby! read more

Called in a delivery order. 2 meals and they said it would be an hour. Explain the address twice. After waiting 40 minutes they me saying they couldn't deliver because we were to far. My boyfriend and I typically eat here a few times a month. You have to be somewhat careful when you order so you don't get overcharged. Tonight my boyfriend ordered usual items we order and after his card was rang up he realized she charged him for large orders and not the dinner combo that we usually get. She then said it was too late to fix it. I called to see what happened and to give them an opportunity to give good guest service, instead she began to talk over me and said she can't do anything about it. Needless to say, we won't be going back. I told her as a small business owner I would not try to screw over your neighbors who give you consistent business. Just beware ! read more

It's okay, no better than any other Chinese place but if you are going to go there, ALWAYS check your order to make sure it's correct! Three separate occasions they have left items out and charged me for them and the last time the employee blatantly lied to me about what I had ordered online until I showed up with a copy of my online order. Food was not great. Tasted like old grease and the kitchen looks dirty. Mediocre at best. Look like the place is going downhill.

Had lunch there today. Not nearly as good as it use to be. I had Hot n Sour soup, fried won-ton and pepper steak and onion. Hot n sour soup needed ALOT more flavor. Definitely something missing there. Fried won-ton was fine. Pepper steak and onion was very bland. The rice with it was fine but the green pepper was barely cooked and even the onion had no flavor but the worst part was the brown sauce. It was like having brown water - no flavor at all. Have been going there for years and the food is always great and portions generous (so generous, that I usually get a half order!). The steamed pork dumplings with sesame sauce are outstanding. Appreciate that they will modify a dish to your liking. Can't go wrong here in my opinion. read more

I usually dont have any issues with this place but this last time around was a no go. I orders general tso's chicken and when my food came up was told it was sesame chicken. Figuring only its a slight difference and the store was busy decided not to make a fuss. When I got home opened a bag of sweet and sour chicken ( this I wont eat) and took it back to the store. After returning to the store and had my order corrected they charged me an extra 2 dollars and I recieved soggy reheated chicken and very very very over cooked rice. I will not return here there are too many options in springfield for the service to be crappy and food to mediocre. read more
