I am sort of divided on this place. First, we stopped by and upon arrival I realized this is much more of a carry-out place than a sit-in place. They have tables to sit and eat, but there definitely isnt any sort of table service. If you are looking for that go somewhere else. The woman taking the orders (who I assume is the owner) was very friendly, but they were clearly extremely busy. We placed our order then ended waiting almost an hour for the food to be ready. Many people came in and picked things up while we waited so it became pretty obvious that the best thing to do is call ahead. My decision is still out on the food. I ordered a variety of things to try to get a true sense of the quality. Jumbo shrimp with vegetables, roast pork friend rice, moo goo gai pan and vegetable lo mein. I ordered large size in everything so I would have leftovers and the total came to about $32 which is really reasonable. I have to say that the flavor wasnt really where I expected it to be. The best item was the fried rice, but I think that might be because fried rice is hard to do wrong. The other three had pretty mild, bland flavors. I realize that the moo goo gai pan and shrimp w/ veg have a pretty mild sauce to begin with, but there just wasnt much of a flavor at all. On the plus side the shrimp really were jumbo and of really good quality as was the chicken. The lo mein was good, lots of vegetables, but could have used more flavor as well. Jury is out, must return and get more flavor-intensive items to give a better review. read more

Don't order the Mongolian beef. It's horrible. It's all mushrooms. Hardly any onions n beef. A waste of 15 bucks.

After much deliberation (and city wide sampling) I can confidently say this is my favorite place for comfort Americanized-Chinese. The Szechuan beef is velvety soft and well seasoned. The portions are ample. The fried dumplings are always crispy. My typical order is Szechuan beef, lo mein noodles, and fried dumplings. All great ! read more

China Wok - Fried Dumpling Plain Lo Mein Szechuan Beef White Rice - Chinese Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Food was okay, but would I go back...absolutely not. The restaurant was filthy and I could barely use the bathroom. Now I suppose if you were doing take-out you would not know this information but once you do this becomes a hard pass for me. The employees were friendly enough but the sheer magnitude of how we felt while eating inside really left us with a sour taste! read more

China Wok - Vegetable Lo Mein - Chinese Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Hot n Sour soup is ok. Needs more hot and sour. Beef with green pepper and onion is fine. Peppers need to be cut smaller. Brown sauce needs more flavor. Service I'd great read more

Might do the job as a nearby carryout, but beware: The food can be bland (apart from the chili oil in Szechuan entrees), greasy (egg foo young), or plain bad (the combo chow mee fun - a mass of unseasoned rice noodles over a few shreds of veg, chicken, and salad shrimp). read more

Best crab Rangoon I've had in a while and their fried donuts are amazing! Good service everyone was very nice both over the phone and at the store. read more

Pretty good. Carry out mainly. Dependable. Go to whenever I visit Springfield. My choice is pork egg foo young.

Food was okay. The place is small with few food and drink choices. Self serve. The workers where very nice.

Fast, affordable, local business. Not high end quality but not negative by any means. Decent place for Chinese pickup and eat at home.

I recently switched to this place as it was closer and on my way home from work. I'm not sure how this place has any stars at all. Horrible tasting and grease soaked food. Based on the look of the breading their oil hasn't been changed in forever. Save your money and time. read more

The food was decent. I had the Mongolian Beef and my BF had the chicken fried rice. I only gave 4 stars because the egg rolls I ordered were forgotten in our delivery order. read more

This is the only restaurant EVER where everything ordered, consisting of 4 entrees and egg rolls, was left uneaten. The four adults, ages 24-66, who ordered were all in agreement. Dishes lack any flavor or seasoning. Avoid at all costs. read more

Excellent carry-out Chinese Food that is extremely inexpensive. Hands down the best in Springfield. Call ahead and plan on waiting as this place is extremely busy!! Plenty of lot parking. read more

China Wok produces quality food at a good price. Their flavors are on par or better than the rest of the Chinese places in town, and the portion size is excellent. The buffet is small but tasty and cheap. If I have any complaint it's that the pork can sometimes seem suspect so I avoid it, and they have a dish called "cold noodles in peanut sauce" that is served piping hot! I eat here every other week at least, and it really is my go to spot for Chinese take out. read more

This take out restaurant is so inconsistent with its quality that I can no longer recommend it. I have eaten some good take out from their large menu, but recently I have not. Ordering is sometimes an ordeal.. then the order is pork not beef. A chicken curry should more properly been labeled chicken skin curry. If the restaurant of a couple of years ago reappears its too bad I won't know about it. The take out order menu has been sent to my recycle bin. read more

They have the best set up for pick up that allows nearly no contact. I also really like and admire the hard-working family that runs the restaurant. The prices are more than fair for the amount of food. They did forget my steamed rice on my latest order, but it doesn't happen often. The food is inconsistent. One week it is perfectly seasoned and cooked well, but the next week it is bland and all of the different dishes taste the same. I usually toss the bland ones in the wok, and ginger, garlic, white pepper, sriracha or red pepper, and whatever other spices are complimentary to the dish. I also vow to go elsewhere and try other places, but liking the owners always draws me back. When they are good, the food is some of the best in the city. read more

Absolutely great. Both taste, quality and price. Super quick take out and the buffet is good enough of a selection for $7. Always fresh.

This is my favorite Chinese take out in Springfield. Staff is nice and food is amazing

Nasty! The general tso's chicken was sweet instead of spicy like the dish is supposed to be. We also tried lo mein noodles and they were thick with very little taste to the sauce. If you're looking for good chinese food, don't waste your time here. read more

Granted, the name is a bit generic, and the place inside could use a little touch up--but where it counts, the food, is fantastic. Was visiting from California, and stopped into this place for a quick bite--holy crap was it cheap $$ wise--and the food was, again, fantastic. The only other place in town for Chinese food is Panda X, and frankly, if you want cooked to order food and don't mind waiting a few minutes, this place is great. The Choice is simple--fresh hot food, and wait a bit, or have food that's been waiting to be eaten, but served quickly, at the X. read more

I will never step foot in this place again. After given the wrong order, I called to let them know. The lady argued with me about what I ordered, so I just hung up on her. If she can't be polite, I don't have to eat there. Her loss. read more

amazing owners and great quality food! ill choose china wok over every chinese place in town.

A solid place for take-out. There isn't really a space to eat-in, but the food is good.

Standard chinese/american fare. Prices are decent , portions are big and its right by my adobe. So you know they get the call from me when I'm feelin lazy. Call it in cause its probably gonna take a while read more

China Wok is our go to for local chinese! The food is always good, the prices are competitive & we've never had a long wait. There are better places in Spfd however expect to pay alot more. Only thing that would make them better is if they delivered (oh please do! Lol) read more

Great food and service! It is definitely more of a carry out place than a place to eat-in. Call ahead, take home, and enjoy :)

Delicious food, very inexpensive, good portions. Cooked to order, call ahead. Plentiful parking.

This place is a carry-out restaurant. The owner/manager speaks Chinese and is quite friendly. The price is very inexpensive. We order 4 for $30. It might be good for people do not really care about food quality and just need something to fill up their stomach. In that case, I suggest Subways instead of this pseudo-Chinese place since Subway is way healthier. Overall. food quality is bad. Worse than most comparable Chinese restaurants I've been to. I'm ethnically Chinese and cook Chinese food at home. I won't recommend this restaurant to any of my friends since it stains Chinese cuisine's reputation. If your image of Chinese food is the things with lots of grease, soy sauce, and strange mixture of elements, you'll be fine with this restaurant. Another problem is that they are so slow. We waited at the restaurant for almost an hour to get food. But if you order via and pick up later, I guess you won't have that issue. read more

Tonight was likely my last time ever going to this restaurant. I hadn't been here in a long time thanks to a previous poor experience, but that had been 4 or 5 years ago so I decided to give it another shot. The older woman running the place was abusive, rude and condescending to the young man working the counter, to the point that the other customers and I were giving each other that "wow, really?" look. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either; completely ordinary. I'll stick to my usual place. It's a couple miles out of the way, but the food is better and I don't have to listen to anyone being openly scolded and berated. read more
