Decided to stop in and grab a "buffet" of food from my moms favorite Chinese spot. Visiting from out of town, I was pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant. Walked in and grabbed a couple sodas and menus to look over before placing our order. Staff was friendly towards us. After having a couple drinks we were ready to place our order fit for an army. They gave us our sofas for free because of how large the order was (thought that was nice of them). Didn't take them too long considering our very large, last-minute order. They helped us to the car when it was ready. Got home and everything was delicious. Really enjoyed the pork fried rice and the ginormous egg rolls and my mom LOVES the ragoons. All in all a great dinner and everyone enjoyed. I know my mom will be back soon and I'll be back the next time I'm in town. Kudos to the chef. read more

I've had pick-up once and eaten in once and both times the food itself is good not great. The restaurant itself is not real welcoming to sit inside while eating, almost as if they want drive thru and pick-up orders only. The environment feels sterile and lackluster. Came in with a friend when in town for training and got carry out. We both ordered simple dishes and were overall disappointed by the execution of it all. Food We ordered a app of their steamed dumplings, which were the best part of the meal. Even though the dumplings weren't great, they were passable, and seemed fairly fresh. I ordered the beef and broccoli combo with white rice which was eh. The meat was tough and tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. The egg roll that came with it was solid. My friend ordered General Tso's and she said it had very little flavor and also tasted a bit stale and tough. Service was not good. Very unfriendly and when we walked in the employees were all yelling at each other and didnt see there were customers waiting. I like the crab Rangoon, house special fried rice, lo mien, hot n sour soup, wonton soup, sweet n sour chicken, shrimp with broccoli, sczechan chicken, anything off the chefs specialty menu, and the combo meals (includes half order of entree and beef fried rice). You can always order half or whole order. You can see them cook your order while you wait. Usually free coffee or water while you are waiting. I've been going here for ten years. Always the same people there. If you eat there enough you can taste the difference in how one chef prepares the food unlike the other. I'd order $50 or more of food from there. I moved away from Springfield this year and cannot find a fast and convenient good Chinese place. read more

Tried to eat in several days ago, we waited a long time, they had prepared our food to but but they did not bother to tell us even though we were up front waiting at a table. Best Chinese takeout in town. Been coming for 15 years. Very consistent. Always prepared with care, always hot, and always fresh. Generals chicken can't be beat. We also get twice cooked pork, veggie or pork lo mein, hot and sour soup, crab Rangoon and egg rolls. Portions are huge and we have several days of leftovers. White rice is sticky. There's a language barrier and that can translate to service that's not super-friendly. That's ok. Not great to look at inside, but much better than it was prior to fairly recent renovations. None of that should matter. I know exactly what it will taste like. Same chefs have always cooked it. Average prices. Lunch special is crazy cheap for the portion. read more

Just went for lunch and it is now my favorite spot for Americanized Chinese takeout in Springfield. When I walked in to pick up my order I saw the woman running the counter folding up dumplings by hand. Considering most takeout places in town have switched to seemingly frozen chicken dumplings (no better than the bland ones you'll find at Panda Express) this was a huge relief. It's funny...as i read other reviews, I find it odd what people focus on (drive thru vs walk-in, or small vs large eating area. Although these things may be true, it should be about the food mostly. I had pork lowmein, fried rice, egg drop soup and an egg roll. All were extremely tasty except the egg roll, which was average. Food was ready in about five minutes and I was on my way! My only complaint is their customer service. They tend to be understaffed, and have trouble speaking English. We have had several order errors as a result of this.
