When venturing in St Cloud area last month, we were craving Chinese food and saw this place for decent recommendations. We have our favorite buffets in the cities, so it's hard to compare. Not sure I would come back to this one again though. Here are the things we liked... the space was clean and revamped. I didn't love that the plates were under the bar near your knees. Super weird. I really enjoyed the pepper chicken (nice and crispy get in a good sauce) and also the coconut shrimp (it was really honey walnut shrimp without nuts). Overall, the space felt clean but the layout was annoying for the entry and the buffet bars. It was very tight. When in the area, we will probably try another place. I have been addicted to Chinese buffets since ce I was old enough to pay for my own meal. I frequent Chinese buffets as a preference when running errands and looking for healthy options. Full disclosure, I do not go to buffets for seafood due to allergies. I can only review the quality of the soups, stir fries, and staples. I can replicate most the American Chinese dishes at home. Service: We went during the afternoon on a Sunday. We were quickly seated by the waitress. We were quickly given our drinks. They have Pepsi products. The waitress kept our drinks refilled and checked in often. I was further impressed by the staff knowing regular patrons by name. The waitress greeted people of diverse backgrounds warmly. This is not common in most Chinese establishments. This is a gem! I was further impressed by the waitresses speaking Spanish and other languages. Just wow!! The buffet: I was impressed the warm plates and bowls. The plates were placed under the buffet. This one action prevents airborne contamination. I loved this! I have never seen this since elsewhere. This should be a requirement for all buffets. The food temperatures were hot! I wouldn't worry about this place when it comes to getting sick. I am a neat freak. I felt like they took extra effort to ensure a safe food temperature and hygienic utensils. Food quality: The hot and sour soup as well as the egg drop soup were nice and hot in temperature. Soup needs to be hot. There was just enough corn starch in the soups to thicken and not so much it solidified. The quality of the ingredients were apparent. I was further impressed by their offerings which are not typical of buffets. They offered baby octopus, cheese scallops kabobs, hunan beef with black bean sauce, and general two's chicken. The food is spicy as they should be! The cheese wonton were were well-balanced. Savory and sweet. The battered items remained crispy! If you are in the mood for Chinese, dont let the exterior scare you away. This is a great American Chinese option. The only reason this place even gets one star is because the server was super nice. However, the food was terrible and between me and my partner we did not eat a single full plate.. we complained to the manager I was still willing to pay for one person, but seeing as how we didn't even finish one plate between the two of us, I didn't understand him not willing to compromise so I still paid full price. His analogy to us was he can't charge a fat person more just because he eats more so we don't get it for less because we eat less, but it wasn't the fact that we ate less the food was just not good. read more

When I walked into this humble establishment, I was wondering what my experience would be eating here. The selection is fairly standard, but the EXECUTION is above par. Doordash ordered Orange Beef. The actual meal did not resemble the picture. The picture shows battered strips. What I got was 2" dough balls made up of aproximately 1/4 beef and 3/4 dough. You'll find egg foo yung, Sesame Chicken, Honey Chicken, Coconut Chicken, Beef Lo Mein, Hunan Chicken, pot stickers, cream cheese wontons, salad, jello, ice cream, pizza, and a whole lot more. The food is hot and fresh. The prices are affordable. One of the worst. Kung Pao was soggy, found 6 bones, peanuts tasted like at least 5 yrs old. Asked for hot sauce, not there. Egg role was bought from Costco - 60 rolls for $10. Fast service with refilling drinks, clearing dirty dishes and paying the check. Bathrooms clean. Only complaint would be the temperature of the restaurant...it was muggy. Don't know if they have an air conditioner but it wasn't on. It was a 70 degree day and it was cooler outside. It took a while to get comfortable as I was sweating over my Lo Mein. read more

Since it's in rural MN, 3 vs 2 stars... Service was pleasant. Lack of understanding English was no problem since I live where I live... A few dishes were excellent. Most were mediocre. Certainly not "more traditional" than most Chinese places. Really more "Middle American" than most coastal Chinese places inthe US. Somehow wasn't as satisfying as in the past. Waitress was attentive and kept my water glass filled. Hot tea seemed a little weak but maybe I didn't steep it long enough. The pork dumplings are my favorite and they don't put out too many at a time but manage to keep the tray filled. I drive an hour to get here, and would have liked some shrimp dishes... even if it WAS lunchtime. I like the music, the staff, and most of the food but I would be happier if there was less pepperoni pizza and fries and more authentic Asian cuisine. I'll be back.
