My family and I visited Great Dragon Buffet on New Years Day to ring in 2023, and I hadn't been in years, so I was anticipating some changes since my last visit. Great Dragon Buffet is located near SCSU in a strip mall with a small parking lot. It was moderately busy and we were able to find a parking spot right away. We purchased 3 adult meals which comes with a drink (free refills). The prices listed on their website are incorrect, and I was able to snag a photo of the updated current prices. If you'd rather do carry out, you can fill a box with buffet food and it's charged per pound. Their selection here is limited compared to what it used to be. They did not have very many options, and some of the food could have been more fresh/tended to by their employees. We requested them to fill the egg drop soup more as the remaining soup at the bottom was mostly soup broth and not so much egg drop. The employee looked into the soup container and told us it was fine, that there was some left and we told him what is left, is not good. He didn't end up bringing fresh soup out and it was the most disappointing/flavorless egg drop soup I've ever had. Their fruit/dessert section is rather lacking and sad. Although they brought out a few hot ones, their veggie egg rolls are gross - the veggie mush inside has a slight sweet taste that was off to me. The food we enjoyed was their lo mein (only vegetables), fried shrimp, cream cheese wontons, and mushrooms & thinly cut chicken. The fried shrimp was panko breaded, and perfectly crisp. Their mushrooms were cooked well - they had a nice crunch & the sauce was good too. Thank goodness for their lo mein, otherwise I wouldn't have been full. With the price increase, we'd hoped for more choices on the buffet table, but unfortunately, it's the opposite. Less options, more money. Don't come expecting seafood options because there were only 2 seafood options when we went - both shrimp. That's it - no fish, crab, etc. that used to commonly be found at buffets. The owner was very sweet and accommodating - he constantly checked our coke & sprite and refilled them for us with a smile. He was so welcoming & kind and I wish we had loved our buffet experience, but hopefully in the future, they add a few more dishes or rotate some out of the current line up they have available. Although their food is average, their phone lines seemed to be quite occupied with takeout orders, so be mindful of that when calling to place an order.

Very limited selection. Should have gone across town. Fair price and decent quality, but I prefer a larger variety and more seafood items.

Been eating here since college. Far and away best Chinese Buffet I've ever had. It's been the Sam for the past 25 years.

Its a great buffet, with fresh food, and the teriyaki chicken tasted great! The egg drop soup was good. Would definitely recommend.

As a Chinese from San Francisco, it is ok place. Pay first seems acquired. No salad bar.

Well, it is Chinese food as usual but this place does have great choices. I specifically recommend the shrimp.

No problem, we ended up waiting, maybe 15 minutes to get a table. There were 4 of us. That wasn't an issue and the staff was great. We got seated at our table and our waiter, I believe his name was Benjamin, was awesome. Great guy, didn't pressure us to order right away. Gave us time to look and would check in on us. All around great service. He was a 5 star! Even the atmosphere, with it being busy, was what you would expect. A lot of people talking and having a good time, no problems, no issues. We were kind of set back in the corner, which I'm thankful for, because we didn't have the noise from the Brunch area. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the food. With 4 people being served, you would think they would get the fries right? They were over seasoned on everyone's plate, horribly over seasoned. You might as well have been dipping them straight into the container of whatever seasoning was on them. Of the 4 orders of French fries, we left 2 orders on the table. I ordered the Gastro Pub Bison Burger, medium. Benjamin even started it was going to have some pink in the middle, and I said yes. The ticket even stated it. I don't know why they even put it on the ticket if they're going to cook it done. The burger ended up being over cooked and dry. It was a Bison burger, so there's plenty of moisture in those burgers when cooked to medium. This thing comes out as a little nothing sized burger. I wasn't impressed with it at all. My wife's order, Spinach and Artichoke Chicken Sandwich, came out good and she ate it all and really enjoyed it. One daughter had ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap. She's had them before at other places and was excited to try their's. Came out ok except for the, what she stated as being too spicy. And again, the fries were over seasoned. My other daughter order a Spicy Dill Flatbread, which turned out really good. She was the only one of us who did like the over seasoned fries. Now when it comes to food, I never send anything back and i don't say anything because we might not be done with ordering. I have the biggest fear about retaliation. You hear the stories from someone you know, of possibly something being a little sketchy when food is reordered or it comes back out, so I just don't do it. I have been here before and it is pretty much the same as I remember it. The staff being great, but the food just being not worth it. The funny thing is it's the Chef's name is on the door when you come in the building. If I was him, I'd be a little embarrassed that his cooking staff can't do a medium burger and do some retraining. At least watch what the cooking staff is doing while preparing food that his name is associated with. I don't need to go back there and eat.

We sat at the bar and the short blond female bartender gave us all the looks. Now I'm not sure if that's because she hasn't traveled outside of Duelm where the population is at best 1,150. But unless you look like; Emma Stone, Morgan Wallen, Tilda Swinton or Neal McDonough, don't expect that kind sort of service. Traveling internationally and being all through the states, sometimes dining at little mom and pops restaurants can be so rewarding. We love supporting local and bringing our ones to small places. Unfortunately not the case here. Things to stick out positively was the salad bar is LEGIT! Lots of sections, two barrels of hot soup and it was clean. My wife and I ordered beers. The bartender had the WORST customer service. Her attitude and unwillingness to be kind was so off putting we almost left. But we stomached her horrible service. She said our dinners were supposed to come with rolls. We saw her walk to the kitchen but came back and said, "They ran out." Really? We understood there aren't many customers with gorgeous sugar brown skin that come through these doors. So as her tip was vastly dwindling, my walleye came out. It was ok. As being In Minnesota for my first time and trying the fish for the first time it all sat wrong. Not only were the people here rude, cold and acted as if they've never seen outsiders before, it wasn't a pleasant dining experience. And trust my wife and I were dressed very nicely with great jackets! So like I said, if you prefer being stared at and receiving worst service than at your churches Sunday spaghetti dinner, take your money and go somewhere else.

In as much as I can tell the latter is the only reason to be in this town. To be fair, I'd never had Walleye. Ever. Suffice to say, I'm convinced this is how it was supposed to be be prepared and surely what God had in mind when He created the fish in the first place. It was fried to expert perfection and paired with fries that were far from ordinary. Just for grins I'd also ordered some ala carte jumbo shrimp, and WOW--I didn't think I could have anything that good so far from an ocean. Are there shrimp in any of their 10,000 lakes?? Who cares as long as they're as good as what I had. Nice and attentive service in the type of place I remember eating out with my grandparents when it was an actual treat. Sadly, this is the type of family owned place cherished by the locals but missing from society. They used to be everywhere and in every state. For now, you just have to trust me and find yourself in Duelm. What a treat!
