    Walleye Tacos
    Markus G.

My girlfriend and I have been wanting to get out on the bike and ride to Saint Cloud and have dinner since it's over an hour ride for me. So we rode up to come eat for dinner since they open at 4 p.m. We arrived in St Cloud an hour later so while we waited we decided to do a little shopping and came back after 4 pm. So we arrived back at 5 minutes after 4 and they were open. We parked and went inside and we were greeted by Veronica, she greeted us with a smile and asked us what we wanted to drink. Took our drink orders and asked if we wanted apps and we told her we were ready to order. So my girlfriend ordered the roasted turkey poutine nothing special but not bad nonetheless. And I ordered the walleye tacos with a side order of shrimp. The walleye and shrimp were cooked perfectly, however the slaw in my opinion didn't marry well with the walleye. The sauce that came on the walleye was really good, and the shrimp were wonderful. I met the other gentleman working there named JP who was friendly and helpful. Both of the staff said bye and wished us a safe trip back home which was thoughtful. Lastly I liked how the restaurant was decorated, and the place looked pretty well kept, I'll definitely return, thanks Jp and Veronica.

Hands down, BEST REUBEN ROLLS EVER!!!! Yum!!! Can't wait to come back! I also had the grilled chicken avocado salad! Delish! Natalie and Claire, (Bartender/Waitress), were a great team together!!!

Simple but sweet, food was great! Pad Thai was lacking a bit, more sour then anything. Everything else we tried was soooo good. You do have to pay for metered parking, so bring some change!

Shrimp Burger with Onion Rings (perfectly battered and easy to eat without the onion pulling out)

What can I say?! I make it a point to stop at The Pickled Loon every time I am in St Cloud. Not only my favorite restaurant in the area but arguably my favorite in MN. When dive bar meets finer dining. You wouldn't expect much upon arrival of the list low lit rail bar with a few dining tables but when you get the menu and start seeing dishes go by you know you have stumbled upon greatness. After many visits I have tackled most of the menu. In this review I will highlight my last visit. I started with a chicken fajita soup that came on a small bed of rice in the cup. The chicken was perfectly cooked and just fell apart in my mouth. The rice with a nice tough giving it some added texture. Next I had their Shrimp Burger with "Hand pattied shrimp burger topped with: house made cilantro slaw, avocado, lettuce, and roasted garlic aioli. Served on a pretzel bun." While I was skeptical at first I remember that this place has never disappointed and went with it! GOOD FREAKIN CALL! This "burger" was amazing. The shrimp patty was like a delicate crab (or shrimp) cake and the cilantro slaw added a fantastic crunch and acidity balancing the sweetness from the shrimp as well as giving it a little crunch. Throw in avocado and a pretzel bun and you've died and gone to food heaven. Also pictured in this review is the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich. This sandwich had a nice creamy chipotle slaw giving it an excellent smoky flavor along with their Baka white BBQ sauce all on an egg bun. While the slaw and the BBQ sauce gave it a flavorful bite this sandwich wasn't "Tennessee Hot" but I appreciate their spin on it and would recommend to anyone seeking a good chicken sandwich. Don't forget that this place is a BAR. They offer up a small but carefully selected menu of craft tap beers that pair perfect with the food. They also infuse vodkas with a variety of things to make excellent cocktails. I've been told the Bloody Mary is amazing and will be back to try it. I have had the smoked old fashioned with Makers Mark and peanut butter which is amazing. The smoke really brings out the peanut butter and gives the drink a smooth finish. I have also had the Pickle Martini. Yes, PICKLE MARTINI, made with house infused pickle vodka and garnish with, you guessed it, a pickle! I have also had the Pad Thai, Chicken Egg Rolls, Roasted Turkey Poutine, and Looney Mac & Cheese on previous visits. All incredible. It really doesn't get much better than this folks! Whether it's an app, a meal, or just some cocktails or a beer, The Pickled Loon is where it's at!

    Pickled Loon Burger w/cheese curds

This place was incredible! A friend recommended it and the reviews were right on. The service was exceptional with wait staff very friendly and helpful. I decided on the Pickled Loon burger but wanted to try the cheese curd because I heard they were amazing. The waitress allow the substitution! The food preparation was fast. Under 15 minutes which was good because the place was pretty busy. We ordered some appetizers which came out in about 5 minutes. FRIED BRUSSEL SPROUTS were very tasty and I HATE Brussel sprouts! These were made with their legendary honey, loon juice and maple syrup sauce. Incredible! If I could make them like that I would certainly eat them way more! Speaking of the honey, loon juice and maple syrup sauce...it comes with the curds as well. Great taste! We also had the WONTON CHEESE STICKS which were an interesting variation to the normal cheese stick! Order them all! The burger had great flavor. I stole some of my friends fries. they are amazing as well. This is a MUST stop in St. Cloud. they also have LIVE music on select nights. Long live The Pickled Loon!

Was the staff and kitchen slow? You betcha. Was that literally the worst Arnold Palmer I have ever had? Yes, yes it was. Did my server say they'd be right back with my chili and not show up for another 20 minutes? Of course they did. Was the bland steamed broccoli on my plate, cold by the time it actually showed up? You know it was... But the real question is was the meatloaf worth all of this? Yes! It may have been the best meatloaf I've ever had in a restaurant... Yep. Only 3 stars...

Supposedly this was a sold out show but it didn't feel too cramped at all. Plenty of bathrooms without lines. They did only have one entrance so there was a huge line there but it seemed to move fast. They have strict security and search any bags. The problem was their bag policy SUCKS. It says the dimensions online but they are very strict on that. It's like the tiniest of wristlets ever. I think a man mad that rule but I guess it's for safety so no can sneak in any weapons. I also really hated their alcohol selection. AWFUL selections -mostly gross beers and only one kind of seltzer- Nutrl Orange. I had a sour stomach the next day. Their food is also outside of the entrance so you have to come out to eat it. Plenty of parking but the lines to leave the lot after the show took at least an hour.

For starters this is an amazing venue I have been here many many times for multitude of shows and…read moreI've never had a bad time or bad experience. With that said on Friday May 31st 2024 myself and a whole lot of other people as you can see were there to see the one and only Snoop Dogg! Unless you're living under a rock everyone knows who Snoop Dogg is which means that the employees and security also were aware. Which means they were also aware of the crowd that this would bring. It was a beautiful eclectic crowd there were literally toddlers that were being carried with pacifiers in their mouth all the way to people with canes and walkers there... It just shows what a diverse fan base that Snoop has. Again I've been to this venue many many times and have tickets for another major artist 2 months from now and I'm looking forward to it but the way that the amphitheater staff handled this could have been much better and they should have used some forethought because with an artist like Snoop it's going to be a packed house. Again people were waiting in a line of thousands... A sea of people from the front gates of the amphitheater all the way back around the entire campus of the casino almost out to the street well after 7:45. The line finally started to thin around 8:00 p.m. .... Might I add that if you call and listen to any of the announcements or look on the website or on your tickets every single show the gates open at 7:00 the show starts at 8:00. Well the show started on time and there were still at least 500+ people in line if not more. Apparently the staff realized this but not in time because I heard that they opened the gates at 6:30. They should have opened the gates between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. for that show. They had the staff they were prepared they knew what was happening but they allowed the situation to overwhelm them. The show was amazing except for the fact that for three tickets we paid almost $1,000 and once we finally got into the show not only did they not scan our tickets they didn't scan the people in front of us they didn't scan the people immediately behind us and we ran into people in the show that just wandered in because the way they opened the gates just to get people in... We went to our seats and couldn't get in them because there were people sitting on top of people in our seats and security or amphitheater staff was nowhere to be found. Basically we paid $1,000 to stand in the aisle for over an hour in the rain and get bumped and have drinks spilled on us..... For the record I'm no longer a 20 or 30 something I'm an original Gen X lol which means that as much as I love a good rowdy rootin-tootin good time.... I want to have the option to sit if I want to in between songs and not risk having someone's beverage poured down my shoulders. I would like to say for the record that I reached out to Vivid tickets where we purchased our tickets as well as reached out to hospitality staff at Grand Hinckley casino and hopefully between the two of them they will figure something and rectify The situation before the next big showol, because I know I'm not the only person that experienced this as after the concert I talked to several friends who were looking for me but they couldn't find me because I couldn't get to my seats there were also others who said they just took a chance and walked through the gates as they saw people walking through and not being scanned in which rubs a little salt in the wound because there were people who paid hundreds upwards of thousands of dollars to get into that show and because the staff was so overwhelmed at a certain point around 8:25 they stopped scanning tickets they stopped checking bags they literally just open the doors and it was a free-for-all So while I was halfway enjoying the show that my friends and I paid accumulative $1,000 for there were people who just happened upon the scene that got in for free to see an amazing world-class performance ‍‍ Hindsight is 20/20 and you can't change What happened I just hope that moving forward the amphitheater staff and management at Hinckley understand that when you invite certain artists that have such a vast eclectic fan base that you need to open on time or maybe even a full hour earlier to start letting people get in get their food get their drinks and get situated in their seats so that when the show starts they can stand or sit and enjoy the entirety of the show not be waiting a hundred plus yards outside of the venue and a line full of hundreds of people listening to the show on the sidewalk.

That said, if you like live music as I do), this place needs to be on your list to check out. Back in June, I attended a Prince tribute performance (Nothing Compares 2P) here and neither the venue nor the music disappointed. The layout is great; starting with an elevated staged and just below that is a dance floor and beyond that area is seating (tables/chairs). There are great views of the stage from mostly anywhere in the space and most importantly, the sound system was on point. Because of demand, for this performance, the dance floor was converted to seating and while understandable, other than in your seat, it made dancing virtually nonexistent. So much so that if someone stood up to dance at their table, the staff working the event would quickly swoop in ask them to be seated so as not to block the view of the people behind them. While relatively large, there is a single bar which was well-stocked and staffed when I was there. I am not sure if it the norm, but on the night I was there they had a $20 minimum for credit card use. Also, the only water they were serving was bottled (no cups of water) so be mindful of that. While this was my first visit to the Minnesota Music Café, it won't be the last. I will gladly return here for future performances.

You can feel Winters' passion about mixology as soon as she asks what you would like to drink. And if you were lucky like me who encountered her and her lovely coworkers/friends around her. It's akin to the scene in Lost in Translation when Bill Murray stumbled on the locals in Japan and being invited to have a great night out with them. I ask winters for a cocktail after being super happy with her spirit suggestion. And she made me a drink that is tart and just right amount of sweetness that leaving me wanting more.
