MC's Dugout Bar and Grill - Breakfast burger and the side of honey mustard incoming - Bars Near Me - Saint Cloud, Minnesota

I like this bar, the prices aren't bad but stiff. Home of the harry buffalo, underground, cool karaoke, great food, cool staff, I usually always have an interesting time when I step foot in there, they've lightened up on their notorious over checking for ID's since my beards grown but couple years ago they wouldn't even let my homeboy get in because all he had was a crumpled up torn white paper to show his ID was on its way, seemed excessive to refuse our entry even after I pulled his black card out, no exceptions for not bringing your identification here lol my friend even got 86'd from the place shortly after for a situation I'm not elaborating about but they've got the best music in town and its an epic place that i keep seeing familiar faces, prime corner spot on 5th and West St Germaine. Every time I drive by someone's smoking a square on the corner. MC's is a routine good time, and where my cousin takes his dates, apparently. Familiar place, MC's stayed the same since I first turned 21 way back in 2015, I miss that era of DT St.Cloud, the dugout rules, the dugout is a good place to chill and watch the field and spectate, underground dugouts obviously a good shelter, with awesome MC's, below in the 3-2-0 read more

MC's Dugout Bar and Grill - The Corner on 5th and West St. Germaine - Bars Near Me - Saint Cloud, Minnesota

Stopped in from the convention center! Super easy to pop over from across the street! I haven't been in years and always forget how big it is! I enjoy how you can stop in and make new friends or run in to old ones and you still have great regulars! The menu was more elevated than I thought and I wanted to try everything but decided on the Philly Cheesesteak and waffle fries. Damn! It was the best cheesesteak I've ever had. My husband said besides one in Philly itself this is the best he has had too! The fries were also the perfect crisp! Bartenders were nice and had great recommendations. The beer selection had craft and draft. All over a nice lunch and beer stop as well as a blast from the past! read more

Was staying in the courtyard across the street and it was single digit temps so didn't want to go far. This place dint disappoint. Good music and bar atmosphere with fantastic burgers. Service was prompt and she kept checking in which was great. Prices were very reasonable for a part of five as well! read more

I've been hear a couple times now. The menu was shaved like it's hairy buffalo drink. Basically a burger bar now with a couple extra items. No more free pretzels either. Darn COVID!! Service is still good and I received my food in under 15 minutes. The portions were still fairly good for the price. I ordered the Italian beef. It was tasty but a bit skimpy. Still a good value just not what I expected. Waffle fries are still worth the upcharge. I did try the apple crisp which I rarely do, order dessert. Save your money. Ambiance is good. Not noisy at all. Plenty of televisions Overall. Good place to go, especially if you don't want to drive while staying at the Courtyard by Marriott across the street. read more

MC's Dugout Bar and Grill - Go vikes! Indoor - Bars Near Me - Saint Cloud, Minnesota

I was staying across the street and just wanted a quick bite and a drink. I wasn't expecting much other than some bar food and a bad drink, boy was I wrong. I ordered a burger with some soup and the steak poblano soup was above and beyond my expectations. Since they have a signature drink called a buffalo (of which they have different varieties) I thought I would give it a shot. The bartender who was busy as all heck and still super sweet whipped it up in no time flat. Delicious and well balanced. They are strong so you won't have a bunch but we'll made. Super surprised by this place, definitely give it a shot! read more

Good food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. I would come back. Burgers are good. Good beer selection.

I am going out on a limb and guessing that a lot of locals don't realize the chef at MC's is pretty damn good at what he does, including ensuring that the menu here routinely changes to accommodate unique tastes. It's as frustrating as it is refreshing, because I've eaten things here that should, in my opinion, be a mainstay. At any rate, there are some really nice things to eat, like beer-battered chicken or fish, poutine, homemade salt and vinegar chips, and smoked turkey leg. They have a range of nice burger options, and a lot of the staples you'd expect of a bar and grill. I was told that the only thing not made fresh in-house was the ranch dressing. MC's is one of the hybrid bars (akin to White Horse and Pickled Loon) in downtown Cloud that act as nice restaurants during the day, and popular drinking holes at night. Most people probably know them for their "buffaloes", cocktails laden with multiple liquors, effective at making you feel good, if that's your aim. But it's actually a nice place to relax, too, even though it gets relatively busy on weekend evenings. There are several dart boards, a couple of arcade games, and don't forget about weekly trivia on Wednesdays and Thursdays. And during Husky hockey season, MC's runs free shuttles to and from the game, a nice bonus if you ask me. The other thing that makes this place worth visiting is their weekly specials. Each day there is something to reward visiting patrons, the highlight being their excellent, free (so long as you buy at least a drink) taco bar. Don't think cheap and skimpy like most others do. This is a legit taco bar that would fill up even the most prolific eaters. It probably deserves another half star, and likely five if you're rating it on food alone. But go try this place out if you haven't. If you want a nice meal, go early. If you want a fun night out and good drinks, wait till a bit later. Either way, it's likely to impress. Addendum: DO NOT! eat here when it's busy. Terrible service is the only thing you can expect. Wrong orders, very long wait times, hit or miss for the correct bill. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the food and place very much, but it's not equipped to handle large crowds. read more

Was staying across the street while in town for a work conference and decided to grab a "quick bite to eat." Was immediately greeted by the bartender who made sure my cocktail glass and water glass was as full as I wanted it to be. Those sitting next to me on each side made it a point to introduce themselves to me. By the time I left I felt like I had made some new best friends. Located in downtown St. Cloud MC's Dugout is subtle and tucked away. You may miss it as you walk by. I do recommend MC's because of their signature drinks and tasty food. We stopped in during Happy Hour ($1.00 off all drinks) and we all decided to try different versions of their signature "Bufffalo" drinks. Whether you get the Hairy, Shaved, or Tropical Buffalo, you'll feel it for sure. These drinks are on the sweeter side and they pack a punch that you won't see coming. The special was Pork Belly Tacos and I devoured it. The pork belly was tender and savory. Even the tortillas (which are red) were delicious. Thin and crispy with a spicy kick. It was a beautiful creation. We paired it with waffle fries for a side, and I was one happy customer. Fun fact: They have a free little appetizer bar during Happy Hour, so when that's available, you can try food like, chicken wings, potatoes, and mac & cheese. We feasted and had a good ol' time at the bar. Our bartender was wonderful and we enjoyed her positive spirit/quick service! read more

This place is what comes to mind when I think of a dive bar. I went here for trivia night on a Thursday night. The food was pretty mediocre but the environment was fun. read more

This place looked nice from the outside. I stopped in for dinner after a long drive. I saw from the reviews it was pretty good. My experience was far from good. I sat and the bartender was spot on at first. There was maybe four people in the establishment. I ordered a braised beef sandwich and it came out pretty fast. The sandwich was ok but nothing to write home about. The issue I ran into was the bartender. He spent the entire dinner talking to another guy at the bar about their college days or something. I finished my beer but he never returned. I finished dinner before he came back to see if I needed anything. They were pretty rude and lots of profanity. They were watching something on their phones that must have been inappropriate as they chuckled and turned it down. I was surprised at the unprofessional nature of the establishment. read more

A buddy of mine called up and said we gotta do a post-Thanksgiving job. It's going to take us to St. Cloud, Minnesota. I have my boots on before I even agree to the job. I had not been to St. Cloud, but the city's reputation for playful eats is up on the list. Let's go! So I says to my buddy that we gotta go to MCs Dugout because they got the notoriety that crosses state lines. So, he says MC Donalds??? No... MC's Dugout is a quarter century old fixture of St. Cloud night life. It's in the basement of a beautiful, historic brick building right smack downtown. It's also my kinda joint, as it is a little dark, and smells like old building. They really dolled up the ol' coal vault, making it into a warm, welcoming, Viking version of the Cheers bar. It's worth it to just stop in for a look. So my buddy and I hobble our old bones down the stairs and grab a hightop near the bar. Our waitress/bartender was Jessie, and she was as friendly as a summer sunset. She had a great attitude and a great smile, as if she invented the concept, herself. What more can you ask for when welcomed as a guest? Nothin'. It''s a good vibe, man. I normally pick a burger when I try a place out. You learn the truth when you get a burger. But, the menu had a Cubano, which is a sandwich with high potential. I had to go with a little Miami flavor. You know how it is. I have to say that, compared to a Key West Cubano, it lacked adventure. But, this is the Midwest, and they ain't exactly up to speed on gusto. No sweat. It was still delicious. Three stars? Everything sounds so good! Yeah, I know. But, you know how I am. I gotta get a good deal when I step out on the pavement. I don't perspirate no gold coins, so I gotta have my frugal side. A guy has to work for a living. Not everyone wants to stay home and eat hamburger crumbles and mashed spuds. I gotta be social, and I like a good saloon. MC's is a great place! Don't get me wrong. But, the money portion is disproportionate to the portion portion... know what I mean? MC's isn't far off the mark, though. A bear paw of extra potatoes would get 'em on target. Seriously. A few extra fries ain't going to lock the doors for good. Everyone who knows me knows I like to redirect my wealth to the men and women who break the sweat. I don't need to buy another sailboat for the boss. C'mon! Listen, my advice is that you should not miss out on an opportunity to drop in and have a bite or a libation. The atmosphere is outstanding and it would be a great place for a game on the big screen. You gotta pay attention, now. If you're one of those people whose Saturn is in the 11th House, make sure you stop into MC's and ask for Jessie by name. She's going to put your stars back in order with her celestial hospitality. I'm not gonna steer you wrong! She's the bomb! She keeps the potations topped so you don't have to twiddle your thumbs. Who is going to give you the straight story? I am, that's who. The MC's crew gotta live, right? Make 'em live right! Lighten up that wallet... it's a burden! Live your life like a mercenary! Put a few dead politicians on the table! Be awesome! I came here for my birthday last week and it was incredible! The karaoke on Wednesday nights are so fun! Will definitely be coming back!

Food was great, nice atmosphere. The butternut squash & Italian sausage soup was nothing less than wonderful! The Bahn Mi sandwich was warm and spicy and very tasty! My friends said their meals were great also. The Bloody Mary had some spice but was bland besides that. Prices were reasonable. The menu is inventive and interesting....looking forward to going back! read more

You know how in, "I'm Sorry, Ms. Jackson," it sounds like the follow up is "I am four eels"? That's what I think of when I go to MC's. Because, if the owner was named Ms. Jackson (he isn't), I'd apologize for winning his meat at the meat raffle while not actually ordering food or the stupidly named "Buffalo" drinks. Four eels here represent how slippery that is. But dude, it's the best meat raffle in town, so I hear. And I don't eat meat. read more

I often recommend this establishment to people in the Saint Cloud area depending on what kind of night they want to have. If you're looking for a chill spot to start your night of bar hopping or perhaps just looking for a place to end a fun night, MC's is my go to destination. Depending on what day and time you go, they may have their free food bar up which is an awesome addition if you're on a budget and don't want to drink on an empty stomach. I will be honest, the food on the menu is infinitely better than whatever they're serving in the free food bar, but you really can't complain when FREE food is available. The menu items are very traditional bar food, but it's good bar food, burgers, sandwiches, waffle fries all the classic accompaniments you'd want with your beer (or whatever liquor you choose). I must be honest, this place offers a beverage called a "Buffalo" and the Buffalo comes in many fun variations, but be warned, this drink has more alcohol than a long island iced tea and will leave you drooling on yourself if you're not careful. You have been warned. read more

If I had to choose a downtown St. Cloud bar, it would be MC's. With its Cheers-like feel, and the friendly service, and good food, you can't go wrong. I was visiting friends and they decided this is where we would go for dinner. I ordered a bloody mary and it was good, a little too spicy for my liking but that happens. I saw on the menu a Peanut Butter and JJ burger and was like "Gross!". My friends boyfriend confessed that was his favorite thing on the menu, and my interest was peaked. Could it be good? It was a hamburger on a brioche bun with peanut butter, jalapeno jelly, bacon and onion. I ordered it with waffle fries. I threw caution to the wind because if I didn't like it, at least I tried. I LOVED it. It was everything I never knew I wanted. It was obviously meaty but also sweet, spicy and rich. I would compare the flavors to a Thai peanut because of the jalapeno jelly, and as I mentioned I don't like spicy. It was so amazing, I had to share with others who were skeptics and they all said "I wish I would have gotten that!" although they liked their food too. The waffle fries were totally crispy and perfectly seasoned, served with a delicious aioli. I can't wait to get that burger again! read more

Usually love this place but disrespectful bar staff is a big downer. This is a GREAT bar. A jukebox in the corner, friendly staff, and a fantastic atmosphere. It isn't a college bar and it isn't an old man's bar: it is unto itself.
