I love this place on Wednesdays for the comedy night. Rad place. The guy running the show is named Matt. He always seems enthusiastic and sets the mood for a good time in this underground bar during open mic night. I believe its an open-mic, but I've only witnessed comedians after attending an estimated 10 times. I usually get home around 11:30pm after the show, it begins around 9ish. My good friend Mitch from high school is how I discovered this weekly free event, his jokes are fire. I look forward to Wednesday's at 9pm, laugh from the gut. Visited while in town at a conference. The beautiful bar area is on the second floor accessible via stairs or elevator. Once you arrive upstairs there's a lovely classic space with two bar areas and lots of comfy seating space. Our party enjoyed wine, margaritas, and beer on tap. They have a good selection of cocktails, and their beer on tap included a lot of great choices. We sampled some happy hour appetizers which included a nice selection of hot and cold items. We were there on a weekday evening, and there was plenty of room. I'm not sure how busy a weekend may be, but for a relaxing weekday, before or after dinner drink, I highly recommend the vibe here. After hearing that Dave at Barstool Fund made the call to The Red Carpet, one of my favorite st cloud nightlife experiences during in college, I knew I just had to go and get a delicious martini from the infamous martini lounge. I was excited by what private enterprises like Barstool could do to help, and I wanted my private actions to help contribute to the continued success as well. My date and I showed up early, around 6pm. Nobody was there except us and staff. As we were walking toward the bar to take a seat, I was reminded by the bartender to bring my mask up. Annoyed since there was no one else there, I brought it up to my face for the remaining 5 seconds of my walk to the bar. Then pulled it down. We ordered martinis and proceeded to chat intermittently with the bar keep. We asked what events may be coming up. They said they would be having a musician to test out if "people could handle the responsibility"...that annoyed me even more. Responsibility of what, exactly? Freedom? Those words rang around in my head for the rest of my time there. Was freedom not a god given right but rather a privilege we as citizens should be grateful our authoritarian betters have allowed us to have? I was shocked. About half way through our drinks a few more bartenders came into our viewing and hearing zone. Two of them were talking about upcoming plans and whether or not to visit Florida since "Florida is mostly open right now" one remarked. The other chimes in that "yeah that's because Florida is a wasteland". Without any more context the best I can tell is that they were referring to Florida as a negative place to go to due to Florida's resistance to dictatorial policies like those we live under here in Minnesota. To sum up, I was disheartened to see young people have such a low opinion of freedom in general and also the belief that individuals can not possibly make the best choices for themselves. I try hard not to blame these young people too much- their young and have a lot of learning to do but also have the world at their fingertips like I do. The social pressures are way more now than when I was in college. I hope they snap out of it fast. I wonder how Dave would feel if he knew his funds were keeping employed people who in my opinion could stand up for freedom a bit more. read more

My girlfriend insists that a visit to The Martini Lounge is not a visit to the Red Carpet Nightclub, and the two should be separated even though they share the same owner and the same physical address. The Martini Lounge is upstairs, and the locals apparently don't call it by the "Red Carpet" name, so I'm reviewing it as such. She met some old friends here for a few drinks, and over the course of the evening the lounge became more and more packed. Pretty impressive for a small town on a Tuesday night. Tuesday nights are $4 martini night, so I imagine that was the draw for a lot of people. Good ratio of girls to guys, too. I didn't move too much from our table, but it looked like they had billiards, and maybe more games around the back? Not sure, wish I checked. Service was good and prices were cheap. Bathroom did have one of those gross pull-the-towel thingy that no one ever wants to touch, though. Why hasn't that died out of existence, yet? read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the music venue at The Red Carpet or the Carpet as the locals refer to it. This place is pretty big. I came to see a friend of mine play with his band and was impressed to find plenty of seating along with a decent size stage and area in front of the stage for people to dance if they were so inclined. There was a pretty good crowd and the accoustics were good which I appreciated. I'm not a fan of places that are too small to host a live band and the shrill ends up driving people away because it's too noisy. Our server reminded me of Karen from Will and Grace. She was fun and outgoing and attentive for the large group we had. Drink prices were reasonable. Would visit this place again whether a friend was playing or not. Overall I was pretty impressed. "As good as it gets" for a city that has exactly one martini lounge. That said, they do a nice job with the martinis, the list is quite varied, and the staff is usually attentive and skilled. The "Repeat Offender" martini is the real reason I write this review. Essentially a bloody mary martini, spiked with house-flavored pepper vodka, it is a sight to behold. Rimmed with a seasoning salt and adorned by two or more large juicy green olives, this martini is a sure-fire way to beat a hangover or begin a festive evening. Ever since my college days, the Red Carpet was the place for college students to hang out on weekends. What is it that makes The Red Carpet so popular? It's located in a large historic building, with many amenities depending upon what you're looking for. The bar has something for everyone: a band room, a dance floor, an event center, an outside balcony for smoking, the comfy Martini Lounge with wingback chairs and couches, multiple bars on multiple levels, skylights, Tiffany light fixtures, pool tables, and more. If you're looking to dance, they have you covered. If you're looking to pull up to a bar and be a barfly, they have you covered. If you want to play pool, they've got you covered. Few bars in St. Cloud have as many options (at least 9 bars). We've attended the SBOX SuperBowl party here for a couple of years and have enjoyed the ambiance of The Martini Lounge. I'm a big fan and regular client of this downtown Saint Cloud spot. It's a very hip yet classy location to have a chill evening with your friends if the bar scene isn't really your thing. Tons of space and seating options, and the overall look is very very cool. The staff are awesome, they have tremendous knowledge of many drinks (not just martinis despite the name) so please ask about recommendations for beers, wines, and other liquors. However, beware of the prices. This place is pricey and may cause you to get a second mortgage on your home. I recommend using this as either a starting point, or end destination on an evening of adult drinking exploration around the downtown Saint Cloud scene. It also helps to have a vague knowledge of alcohols before ordering; some bartenders (not all) have a tendency to judge/shame you if you order a Coor's Light or some other generic beverage. Despite prices and hipster staff tendencies, I love this place and highly recommend it to all patrons visiting Saint Cloud. read more

Every time I have gone to this bar previously it's been amazing. On Sunday night I went to the red carpet with a group of friends. The bartender was extremely rude with talking with us there were two girls on, one very pleasant the other not. We had a guy in the group with a expired ID due to the COVID 19 we are not allowed to get new ID. The Minnesota state law has been flexible with pushing it two months out because they are not allowing You to renew them yet. We had a plan for the night stop at each bar and get one drink, I asked her if they were making martinis the specialty drink (keeping in mind it's all over the building outside) she told me she wouldn't make it. I respectfully said okay. Our group left due to the plans we had for the night. We come back in later in the night to get one of our friends who was playing darts. The same bartender comes around to ID everyone again I said I'm just getting water, she said RUDLY you still have to give it to me, I respectfully did and she asked the other guy I was with for his, she goes oh right your the one that has the expired ID and continues to rudly say you can't be in here get out. We say oh that kinda sucks and we get up and leave. As I am turning around to find all my friends she is flicking us off. FULL ON GIVING US THE FINGER ON BOTH HANDS So very professional. I'm also going to mention I work in the food AND bar industry and nor I or ANY of my coworkers have ever treated any of our customers that poorly. So I will be bringing my friends and business elsewhere thank you red carpet for having those type of people working for you. read more

Went out on a Thursday night and drank $4 martinis. Their selection is EXCELLENT, and they are not stingy on the amount of alcohol in the drinks :) I will say that the place is confusing, with several different entrances/bars that seem to change during the night. At one point, one of the people in our party got trapped in another part of the bar because he went to get popcorn and then they shut the door! A definite must-try if you're in St. Cloud. read more

Second time going to the Martini Lounge was not as good. A group of us, about 13, went back to celebrate birthdays again on a Saturday night. One of my friends was warned not to go there because the the 'B' staff was going to be working. Well, they were right. We had MANY empty glasses before the waitress would decide to come back. We would have drank a lot more if she would have come around. We liked going there because it's a little quieter. We are above the college age group that can be found in most areas of downtown. But, I think we'll be heading back to the places we used to go to. read more

Wednesday night in the Keller Bar they have a free comedy show. Starts around 10. Crowd is smallish. Went here on a Friday night and had a really good experience. Martini bar was cool and there was a band playing in the lower bar which was entertaining. Then I took a look at my bank account and found a few random charges on my card for amounts that I definitely didn't pay or amounts I didn't tip for. I have been here probably 10 times over the past year, usually on the weekends. There is a huge selection of martinis for the going rate ($8-9). The servers are friendly but overall service is slow and inaccurate. More often than not, the drinks we've been served are not the drinks we ordered. And sometimes the drinks aren't appealing-- tonight, my friend ordered a manhattan-- it tasted nothing like a manhattan and came with both olives and a cherry?! I'm not sure if they need to hire more bartenders or servers for faster service or have more training, but there is room for improvement. However, since this is the only martini bar in town, we'll most likely be back. read more

This is a very nice place for Saint Cloud. The Martini selections are, of course, huge. The wine and beer selection is limited but you'll find all the big national brands plus a few craft beers. I am a fan its not my favorite bar by any means there are places with better drink selection or better atmosphere but this is a nice combination Its easy to find a seat any day of the week, great martini selection, friendly staff, easy access in and out without dealing with the bar crowd in the building decor is nice. They take credit cards here as well. It is a bit pricey but not extraordinarily so, I would say the biggest two downfalls are that drink service is pretty slow this appears to be due to lack of staff rather than a quality problem, and that it is located on 5th ave which is always crowded with drunk college students on Friday/Saturday night read more

The martini is a very personal drink that, despite its simplicity, can be ordered in a variety of ways and this bar's martini list has something for everyone. The decor is mostly nice, but ambiance is not 100% martini bar. The music selection is not martini bar style. In fact the music really annoyed me as well as sports on tv. Drove an hour from Minneapolis to see a concert. There are 3 unmarked entrances. The main entrance is small so getting out is difficult if people are coming in. A lot of congestion here. The bar tender was on his phone, looked at us walk up, then continued on his phone for another 30 seconds. The acoustics was bad and every inch of the place was loose which caused rattling from the bass. I've been to a lot of concerts over the years and never saw security tell someone to not smoke weed. But if that's a club rule so be it. I just thought it was strange when security rushed up to a guy and grabbed him on the back of the neck and said to stop. The only time I've ever seen security treat a guy like that is if it's well deserved and they're causing others trouble. Followed by kicking out. I was enjoying the show and was pushed about 7 times by security and they rushed the crowd to others to say stop smoking. People quickly realized to just blow smoke down and not up. I saw a guy get kicked out for dancing too much. Not kidding. He paid double the price to have a meet and greet and was kicked out for dancing. On a dance floor. He wasn't bothering anyone but security it seemed. Then I saw two fights break out within 10 minutes. One with dudes and one with woman. I've never seen a fight break out at a concert out of the 50+ concerts I've been to. I've never seen security harass people for smoking. read more
