The most off-putting part of the experience was the young woman tasked with working the front counter. She was as unfriendly as one can be while cloaking the attitude in professional coolness. This is the Chinese restaurant from my childhood and given that there's not many other restaurants, this is a good option. It is also super helpful that they're open late. The staff is nice and the food is done quickly (10 min for us). A solid choice for dinner in Bainbridge. The pricing is cheap but the food is also pretty mid. It does the job. This time we got the General Tsos chicken, the Sesame Chicken, and the Cheese Wontons. The wontons are pretty good, but the breading without cheese in it often becomes over-done and chewy. We are also pretty sure the two main dishes are the same, but one doesn't have Sesame. None of the food tastes great reheated the next day, so I suggest ordering just what you'll eat for your meal. read more

The food here used to be good up until a year or so ago. Bone on ribs were the best around, as well as the Tso chicken combo. The food used to be pretty good but it was was not good last time I went. The prices are too high considering the quality of the food. A small sweet and sour chicken and a order of dumplings were $18.00. The dumplings were burnt and it ruined the taste and the chicken was cooked in old oil and overcooked. I'm new to the area and have been trying different Chinese restaurants in Greene and Binghamton. They are all terrible. On a last ditch effort, we tried China Star. The food is excellent. The food is as good as the best places on Long Island. I try something different every time I go there. We have to drive over 30 minutes, but it is worth it. It looks like every Chinese restaurant I've been to, a little old and beat up. The staff are always nice and courteous. As for the review about the food not looking like the picture, every Chinese restaurant uses the same pictures, and pretty much the same menus. Do you complain when your BK Whopper doesn't look like the picture or the one on TV? It's a silly complaint. The other complaints from years ago don't stand here. From my experience, Chinese restaurants change hands every couple to few years. It may be under new ownership right now. read more

Solid option for Chinese takeout if you're stuck in Bainbridge (I prefer the place in downtown Sidney, but sometimes I'm in Bainbridge and can't make the trip). Their hot and sour soup is not vegetarian - it had chicken and I would have preferred more vegetables, but it tasted good. Quick service, nice place. read more

I felt the need to add a review for this place since there aren't many decent Chinese restaurants in the area, and I want this place to survive. So this place is located in a newly renovated space that was once a dental office. It also shares a parking lot with the local supermarket. When you go in it's very clean, a little cold, but the staff is very friendly. Anyways, I've been going to this place for lunch on and off for the last couple of months, and it really is miles ahead of the other Chinese places in the area. Also, with a lunch meal coming in at around $6.00 you really cannot beat the value. I believe it costs a little more to eat at an unnamed buffet just down the road. But compared to China star, the unnamed place tastes like you are eating food prepared a week ago. I've tried a number of different dishes and they have all been great, especially the Schezuan chicken and the Hot and Spicy beef. Granted this isn't NYC, but the stuff at this place is so much better than your other local options. So people please keep this little joint in business. read more

I agree with everything Teddy said. Their food is fresh and delicious. I love their shrimp with broccoli in dark sauce...loaded with large shrimp. Not sure of the name, but their Chinese cream cheese puffs are awesome. Their a cut above the Chinese restaurants I've been to since we've moved upstate.
