I am really conflicted while writing this review. I visited this shop while on vacation and passing through the area. It seems like most of their business is takeout, as there wasn't a single person dining inside with us, but we did see a lot of orders being prepared and picked up. I'm giving this place a 3-star rating because the sushi was good, but I am very particular about cleanliness, and unfortunately, I would rate that aspect a 1. Let me explain a bit more. My friend and I walked in, and we were greeted and seated promptly. The menu has a nice variety of options to choose from. Starting with the food, which was the good part: I had a soup, kani salad, rock shrimp, and five different types of sushi rolls (eel avocado, Philadelphia, spicy crab, Godzilla, and sunshine). The soup was very mediocre but not terrible. The kani salad was awesome, and all of the sushi rolls were great. The rock shrimp was perfect and cooked nicely. I am a big fan of Godzilla rolls, and those were my favorite out of the bunch, but the others were also excellent. I had no issues, felt fine afterward, and really enjoyed the meal. However, let's talk about the cleanliness, which is where things took a turn. While the food tasted fresh, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars, I have serious concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, considering the state of the front of the house. The baseboards were filthy, the walls were grimy, and everything felt incredibly sticky. It was an uncomfortable experience because the place felt very run-down and grungy. Realistically, based on the condition of the space, I would rate this place a 1/5. The cleanliness issues made me uncomfortable. However, the food itself deserves a solid 4.5/5. My overall Yelp rating should be a 1-2, but I am giving a 3 because I understand times are tough, and not everyone has the funds to renovate and fix up their spaces. However, some inexpensive TLC could definitely improve this place. read more

When I walked in, I thought I was walking into the local tri ligma chapter at SUNY Oneonta. However, turns out that this is actually how the restaurant be. There was clearly a party going on upstairs and not everyone was exactly sober. When I went to the bathroom, there were two chicks in it doing a white powder that was probably not flour. I believe at Tokyo, you pay $24.00 for a "Dinner Bento Box" which comes with Rice, 3 rolls of Sushi,a Fried Volcano Roll, Miso Soup and Salad. Here, I only bought Three Rolls of Sushi, and Some Fried Rice (and the Miso Soup came with the Fried Rice) and the Total Ended up being $36.00+ However, the food tasted great and Super authentic, especially the Seaweed around the sushi and the Vegetable Fried Rice. The Sushi was wrapped tight and didn't fall apart, when I picked it up with chopsticks. They were super fast and started preparing the order right in front of me with a Smile on their Face. We here our first night in town and loved it! Upon entering, we were seated immediately. We were told the specials and were able to order drinks right away. The atmosphere did not match the entrance really. The entrance was a long hall and then you open into a small, Japanese style sushi shop. It is a bit dark, but that's totally fine! They had a ton of interesting rolls I have never seen. We ordered five rolls. I don't remember what exactly now. Almost everything was great! The sushi taste fresh and the sauces changed up what I normally have. The only roll I didn't like was the spicy white tuna roll. It had way too much mayo and that was all I can taste. I finished off with the fried green tea ice cream. It was amazing! I definitely recommend it. I would go back for sure! read more

Tiger is yummy and I have never had a bad experience, but I personally just prefer Tokyo sushi down the block. Food is always made quick, and is fresh. Only downside is the college attraction it is for sake bombs. Never ever go here during the school year for dinner, on a Friday or Saturday night, the place is packed with people just sake bombing and its very loud. Get your food to go those nights. Now on the other hand if you're looking for that kind of experience they have a good deal on sake bombs the more that you get. I recommend the lunch bento box, great deal. read more

The chair dug into my legs. It was pretty uncomfortable. I do have to say, our waitress was very friendly. The sushi here is good. I regularly get the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. Their volcano roll is delicious. The entire sushi roll is fried after it is made and it is served on a plate, still warm, covered in a sweet sauce. MMmmm! The rolls here are thicker than Tokyo's. In addition to that, we also ordered the cha siu pork buns. It wasn't traditional the type of red cha siu. I would've just called it pork, honestly. It was good, but it wasn't what it was named after. The pork gyoza comes with a plate of 6 for $4.95. They are small and mediocre. The sake bombs here are also cheaper than sake bombs at Tokyo. The green tea ice cream here is really delicious and it comes in a bowl with 3 scoops for $3.95. If you want fried ice cream, it is $4.95. The best deal here are definitely the sushi or the lunch combinations. Con: Verizon users never have phone service in the restaurant. read more

Most amazing sushi ever. Each roll comes with 8 pieces and they are so good. The prices are super affordable and the quality is amazing. I got 2 sweet potato tempura rolls, and they catered very nicely to my vegan diet. The inside ambiance is really nice aswell-- they have a cool outlook area that you can sit down if you like. What a great place! Tiger Asian Cuisine is in the middle of Main Street in Oneonta, an adorable little college town. The coolest thing about this place is that they serve both Japanese and Chinese food. We got takeout and ordered the hibachi chicken and soup, miso soup, broccoli chicken, California hand roll, fried rice, and chicken lo mein. The soup was fantastic, both the miso and the hibachi soup. The other food was pretty good as well! I'm very impressed that such great Asian food can be found even in a cute little town. So this place is the only place that's open past 9 o'clock pm and the employees are so happy and so pleasant and so polite to speak to an always looking to help you. Unfortunately the food is something to be left in the store it is not edible. The eggroll is not fresh and crunchy on the inside it is like a mashed potato in the eggroll. The chicken and broccoli has no taste the chicken was overcooked and dry and for Chinese food dry chicken when it's soaking in some kind a juice is a little ridiculous. Was looking forward for a nice sushi experience over at Oneonta but all I got was a mediocre meal. The prices are very attractive due to the nice lunch special hours but the meal itself was nowhere near special. The sushi itself was very basic in the level of which I could find at a gas station/ grocery store. The Eel Avocado roll is one of my favorites and was fairy decent here but the fish sizes in the rolls are so small. Especially when it came to my Alaskan roll I literally tasted no salmon due to the extremely small pieces in each morsel. The green salad was alright I have had better ginger sauces on my salads and the miso soup was very boring but it usually is. I might be expecting a lot from a small town but with the reviews and good referrals from friends to hit up it makes me think what they believe is "good sushi". We got crispy chicken, sesame chicken, chicken low mein, and chicken yaki soba with miso soup and fried rice. The noodles were over cooked in both the low mein and yaki soba. The miso soup had very little flavor and next to no tofu. The inside of the restaurant was very dirty. The bathrooms were disgusting, the tables were sticky, and it over all was just dirty. We've created "Tiger Tuesdays" for ourselves: my husband places and pays for the order online, and I swing by on my way home from work and pick it up.
