I generally don't write reviews but this experience was terrible. My family and I went to Sake Tumi yesterday (Saturday) for lunch for the Binghamton Restaurant week. It seemed like a good deal $15 for a set menu list. We were only one of two tables in the restaurant around 1ish pm (with one take out) and our food took a long time to be made and served. We (a table of four) all ordered from their restaurant week menu. We were served way after the other table that ordered off the regular menu and came in after us. My soup a tam yum was sour, it's traditionally a balanced spicy soup. I turned the soup to the server for the another soup, the miso, because the tam yum was sour bad. When we asked if meat was included on the ramen dish that my son and partner ordered we were told it was an up charge so we went without (it was not marked on the menu as other up charged items were). My kids kept asking when we would get our food especially when the other table was served and the server disappeared. In the mean time college kids were literally dropping water off the building in front of the restaurant to the ground on other college kids. No one from the restaurant addressed this issue literally in their front window spaces with the students and it made it weird to leave or enter the building. When the food finally came out mine almost 50 minutes later in a nearly empty restaurant my food was again off and sour but I was so hungry I ate a little of my pad Thai. I left most of it and did not take the leftovers home. My son and partner both tasted the pad Thai and said it tasted disgusting and couldn't believe I ate any of it. The server was again no where to be found when we ready to leave and the college students took a pause from throwing water off the building. After another 15 minutes the server was finally flagged down and he still up charged us for the uneaten returned tom yum soup to the kitchen. We were there for over an hour and half mostly waiting for food with out communication from the front or back staff from their programmed meals. When we returned home my partner and I both had upset stomachs. My partner woke up several times in the evening. This experience really was disappointing as we tried a restaurant we hadn't been to before because it was verified on the Binghamton Restaurant week websites. It has us questioning going to another Binghamton restaurant week restaurant outside of restaurants we have gone to in the past. I hope the Binghamton restaurant week leadership and the restaurant will address this in the future. read more

Went here for all you can eat sushi with my 6 friends and not only did we have extremely slow service (waited 30 mins for food between orders placed), we found FIVE HAIRS in our food and there was no compensation done about any of it. So my partner and I visited pretty much for the Monday night all you can eat sushi, and they were pleased, but I wasn't exactly blown away. They ordered from the all-you-can-eat, and I ordered some ramen (asked for just egg and broth), and it came in a smaller serving than I really expected. Ordered a sake flight of 3 towards the end of our visit, and eventually had to cancel the order because it took so long. Server must have forgotten? My partner really liked some of the rolls that they ordered, and from the sushi that I sampled (sweet potato tempura and tamago/egg), they felt pretty standard. I've been to Sake Tumi in the past and I've ordered from their regular menu, which has been decent, but I wanted to try their AYCE and since they only offer it on Monday nights, I went towards the end of the spring semester because classes were winding down. I went to AYCE twice, once spontaneously, and another planned hang out with friends and I can say that the second time was slightly better than the first but not by much. First AYCE time: Food: - like another yelper stated, their nigiri was stacked high with rice and barely any fish was there. the rice tasted stale and their fish did not really taste fresh - at the AYCE restaurants that I've been to, you are not restricted to any type of sushi on the menu, but at Sake Tumi you have to pay an extra 2.25 for a deluxe roll which wasn't even that much better, and I was so full by then and could barely stuff down the two deluxe rolls that came 2 hours later - everything tasted the same after a while, the sushi tasted bland overall - did not get enough wasabi and ginger on the plates - the rice was soggy and we did not receive all the nigiri that we ordered Service: - took forever just to get water - our initial waiter forgot about us so another one noticed that our sheet cards haven't been taken yet after 45 minutes - arrived at 7:50pm, and did not leave until after closing at 10:30 because the service was so slow - initial round of sushi came after an hour It was nice though they squeezed a party of two without a reservation though late at night. So.... We went in with high hopes , empty stomachs, and a dream. We walked out with grease and regret in our stomachs. Basically we were forced to stuff our faces with week old cold tempura rolls in order to avoid a 2$ PER Piece charge. The shrimp and sweet potato tempura was so cold and hard and greasy. Clearly not even fried today. So after we informed our waiter that we did not want to eat this rotten ball of potato grease he told us that it doesn't matter and would come out to 12$ for 6 pieces left (we each ate one). The basement had 4 long tables for 8 ppl but they are literally pushed so close you are back to back with the next table. They put us right next to the only other people there and in the corner too. We asked to sit at the far table so we weren't on top of each other but honestly we should have asked for upstairs. Food was okay, not bad but not amazing. They automatically charged 18% tip because we were a party of 6 so maybe that's why the service was so bad. The girl got our order wrong and said, oh, I didn't hear you say that so it was chef's choice, but she repeated the order to us when we ordered. She said she would give it to us for free which was nice, but it took so long it came after our dessert. She never came down to check on us and we had to ask the bartender downstairs if we could order dessert. The bartender took our order but then our server came and said she wasn't allowed to do that so we had to repeat our order. Don't get me wrong, the waiters and waitresses were incredibly nice and hospitable, but they are understaffed to the point where my party waited over 20 minutes to just get our orders taken. I've eaten here several times and the food is always amazing. In addition to standard Japanese offerings, they offer some pretty innovative Asian fusion style dishes. I was recently very impressed with their sashimi rolls, such as the Naruto roll (salmon, tuna, crab & avocado wrapped in cucumber sheet with ponzu) which is a great low carb option! I don't drink alcohol, which is fine because they offer a Mango Mule mocktail that is delicious! They do have a generous selection including mixed cocktails, beer, wine, and a wide variety of sake if that's your thing, though. All that being said, I am docking a star because during COVID pickup, they don't keep the pickup orders in a refrigerator. They just leave it on the counter. I have been here once and it will be my only time going. It was the restaurant week sometime last year and I was going to one restaurant a day. When my group and I decided to eat here, we expected at least average food and average service. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. Upon arriving, there was nobody there (despite it being restaurant week) Because of this, I thought "lucky us, fast service." It was when the waiter took our orders, but my group and I waited over 25 minutes for our appetizers (basically just miso soup for the most of us) and it came lukewarm and too salty. As for the entrees, those came out 20 minutes after that. When we finally got our food, my friend noticed the vegetable on her food still had the sticker on it. She was able to receive a refund on hers, which was luck for her. In my food, I saw that an additional topping of hair on my rice. I requested for it to be remade, but when I received my food, it looked identical to the one I sent back, but just hairless. Really small rolls so one piece is half the size of a normal one. And if those roll pieces are their regular full price size, then you will eat 30 pieces easily.
