$1 sushi!!!!
Adeline L.

Place is awesome. I love their $1 sushi. It's a great way of trying a little bit of everything on the menu and then getting what you like. Service is quick and amazing. I love their music choices. Outside seating is nice during the summer.

Food and services were good. We went on their half off sushi day. Which is Thursday, It was good.

So my partner and I visited pretty much for the Monday night all you can eat sushi, and they were pleased, but I wasn't exactly blown away. They ordered from the all-you-can-eat, and I ordered some ramen (asked for just egg and broth), and it came in a smaller serving than I really expected. Ordered a sake flight of 3 towards the end of our visit, and eventually had to cancel the order because it took so long. Server must have forgotten? My partner really liked some of the rolls that they ordered, and from the sushi that I sampled (sweet potato tempura and tamago/egg), they felt pretty standard. The venue is considerably beautiful, but they should probably set up some incognito flytraps for the outside, we had a few flies and even a wasp bothering us, but hey, that's what you get when you go outside, right? Might come back for the free sake night, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Absolutely NO. I can not believe they call themselves a sushi bar, what an embarrassment. I ordered take out for dinner. $25 bucks for a "house salad" with ginger dressing and sushi. It was legit mixed greens with 4 cherry tomatoes and a few pieces of cucumber. The ginger dressing was a weird consistency. And not good. The sushi was tasteless. Absolutely NO FLAVOR AT ALL! Gross. Funny thing is they have NO PARKING OUTSIDE OF THE RESTAURANT FOR PICK UP. I called the restaurant to see if they could run my food out to me so I didn't have to park in the middle of a busy city street. Of course they couldn't. Go to A plus sushi down the road its way better and authentic.

I've been to Sake Tumi in the past and I've ordered from their regular menu, which has been decent, but I wanted to try their AYCE and since they only offer it on Monday nights, I went towards the end of the spring semester because classes were winding down. I went to AYCE twice, once spontaneously, and another planned hang out with friends and I can say that the second time was slightly better than the first but not by much. First AYCE time: Food: - like another yelper stated, their nigiri was stacked high with rice and barely any fish was there. the rice tasted stale and their fish did not really taste fresh - at the AYCE restaurants that I've been to, you are not restricted to any type of sushi on the menu, but at Sake Tumi you have to pay an extra 2.25 for a deluxe roll which wasn't even that much better, and I was so full by then and could barely stuff down the two deluxe rolls that came 2 hours later - everything tasted the same after a while, the sushi tasted bland overall - did not get enough wasabi and ginger on the plates - the rice was soggy and we did not receive all the nigiri that we ordered Service: - took forever just to get water - our initial waiter forgot about us so another one noticed that our sheet cards haven't been taken yet after 45 minutes - arrived at 7:50pm, and did not leave until after closing at 10:30 because the service was so slow - initial round of sushi came after an hour It was nice though they squeezed a party of two without a reservation though late at night. Second AYCE time: Didn't want to get AYCE again, but their kitchen was closed only to AYCE sushi Food: - rice was a bit less soggier - alaska role was pretty good actually. i ordered the philadelphia roll, shrimp and avocado, shrimp tempura roll, octopus and scallop nigiri, and miso soup - their miso soup is tasty, I love miso soup so any chance I can get it I order it - they were out of egg nigiri both times Service: - waiter and staff were pretty good with replenishing water (we were a party of 5) - was missing an alaska roll that I ordered the first time the sheet card was taken - initial round of sushi came promptly, but the second round of sushi for my 2 friends took over 30 minutes - waited over 25 minutes to get the last roll of the night that my friend ordered which was an avocado roll Overall, I would say that Sake Tumi has good food on regular days, but with the combined overload of rice and poor service I would go elsewhere for some sushi.

So.... We went in with high hopes , empty stomachs, and a dream. We walked out with grease and regret in our stomachs. Basically we were forced to stuff our faces with week old cold tempura rolls in order to avoid a 2$ PER Piece charge. The shrimp and sweet potato tempura was so cold and hard and greasy. Clearly not even fried today. So after we informed our waiter that we did not want to eat this rotten ball of potato grease he told us that it doesn't matter and would come out to 12$ for 6 pieces left (we each ate one). The sushi rice was cold and under seasoned too. It's just dissatisfying to spend 61$ for a meal and then not even enjoy it. Fine that's one thing then to be forced to eat it after we let them know and they said sorry we still have to charge u. My friend had to stuff his face like the drake and josh sushi line episode. Maybe they should've stayed closed after the run in with the health inspectors. Our waiter Matt was a great guy it wasn't his fault, it's a systemic issue

Norwegian roll

Best sushi we have ever eaten! Our first order was their Norwegian roll with two sides of gyoza. Let me tell you, we were hooked on the first bite. It was so fresh and tender, like eating a moist piece of cake. Soooooo good, we placed a second order to try their Philadelphia rolls. Cannot wait for more each time we visit this area of NY. Peace y'all

To make a long review a short one, the food here is actually pretty good but the service is quite iffy. Don't get me wrong, the waiters and waitresses were incredibly nice and hospitable, but they are understaffed to the point where my party waited over 20 minutes to just get our orders taken. Additionally, once we did get our meals, we didn't have any utensils so we needed to wait another couple of minutes until we could actually try our food. Two out of the four of us decided to partake in the restaurant week special! I ordered the tofu teriyaki which was delicious with shrimp shumai as my appetizer!! Despite the long wait for the tofu, it was some of the best tofu I've had in a while. My friend also decided to order off of the restaurant week menu and she got the gyoza, the volcano roll, and strawberry mochi. Our other two friends got the tuna and salmon poke bowls!! We really liked the food, but we were there for over an hour and a half which was less than ideal. Also, I made a reservation, but we still needed to wait to be seated.

I've eaten here several times and the food is always amazing. In addition to standard Japanese offerings, they offer some pretty innovative Asian fusion style dishes. I was recently very impressed with their sashimi rolls, such as the Naruto roll (salmon, tuna, crab & avocado wrapped in cucumber sheet with ponzu) which is a great low carb option! I don't drink alcohol, which is fine because they offer a Mango Mule mocktail that is delicious! They do have a generous selection including mixed cocktails, beer, wine, and a wide variety of sake if that's your thing, though. All that being said, I am docking a star because during COVID pickup, they don't keep the pickup orders in a refrigerator. They just leave it on the counter. For some restaurants, that's not a big deal. But for raw fish?! That's not ok and they need to fix that.

Super cool art!!!

Walking in it was fairly dimly lit and silent as I was to be the only diner. The staff was very friendly and got me seated with a menu at the sushi bar immediately. The menu was fairly baseline with a few signature specialty dishes but all consisting of the same ingredients. I order a Hot tea, the Sashimi lunch special which came with a Miso Soup & side of Rice as well as the Treasure Island appetizer to sample some of their more unique dishes. The Miso Soup was both warm and flavorful. The Treasure Island app was an interesting blend of sweet savory and fat flavors with fresh Mango, Avocado, Tobiko, Ponzu and diced fish's but it was unfortunately all just overtaken by the heavy Mayo and tempura flakes. The Sashimi lunch was presented fairly but the quality of the fish was sub par to say. All of the previous frozen variety and using Izumidai "tilapia" in place of Red Snapper. Overall it certainly was not the greatest Sushi dining experience for me personally and I would pass on the next opportunity to visit. That being said there seems to be very limited Sushi dining opinion this area and it was fairly reasonably priced 2 course lunch. 3.9/10 Very friendly staff, lower quality ingredients.

And the restaurant seated us in an area that smelled like wet cats. Our waitress was attentive, she took our order and brought my cocktail from the bar pretty quickly. I first started with a miso soup, it was very good. I ordered the Chicken Katsu with white rice. The chicken was cooked perfectly, nice and crunchy. The plum dipping sauce? It was so salty, the same with the salad dressing. It threw off the entire meal. I'm from out of town, I'll never return.

From the moment you walk in, the owners and staff make you feel like family. Watching them interact with hundreds of guests throughout the night--many of whom they know by name--you quickly realize how much they genuinely care about everyone who walks through their doors. After reading some of the negative comments, I want to address a few things. Yes, it's a busy place, especially on weekends, and it can get loud with multiple hibachi tables going at once. However, past concerns about ventilation and the availability of yum yum sauce have been addressed and resolved. As for the food, the sushi quality is without question the best in the area, and you'd be hard-pressed to find better outside of the city. We stopped ordering off the menu and let the sushi chefs create whatever the want for us. Never once have we not enjoyed what they made! They even offer an omakase experience, which--while more expensive--is absolutely incredible for anyone seeking a high-end dining experience. So ignore the bad reviews people wrote on here. Some people just will never be happy. Come experience one of the best Japanese Steakhouse's you'll come across and see why they rarely have a slow night.

I had no choice but to visit them during BU move-in weekend which was the only weekend I was in Vestal and it was, as I expected, very busy.
