I met a friend for lunch at China Palace where neither of us had been before. For a Monday it was doing a good business. The server gave us each the lunch specials menu which, based on the pricing, consisted of smaller servings of regular menu dishes. I was a little disappointed that there were no noodle dishes on either menu. I ordered the roast pork with vegetables and fried rice but declined the soup. My friend ordered a chicken dish. My dish featured what seemed to be fresh veggies based on their texture. The sauce was tasty as was the fried rice. I was very satisfied with my lunch and would go there again. My friend ate her soup, egg roll and chicken and rice leaving only a small forkful of rice so I assumed she was also pleased. read more

Go here 1-2 times a month to use my Amex benefits for Uber Eats/Grub Hub, so can't speak to the dine-in experience. I can say that the food is always fresh and plentiful. I always order for delivery through GH so no comment on the location, never been there in person. However I can't be more impressed with their service. They deliver themselves, not using GH drivers, and they are FAST, and they've even called me themselves to tell me on the rare occasion their driver(s) are backed up to say it'll be a bit longer than usual due to their being extra busy. You have to appreciate that. Also, when I ask for 'custom' orders such as specifying specific ingredients in my dish, they have always honored it. Also, importantly, they don't jack their prices when you order through the GH app, which means the VALUE is always there, I love that :) Ingredient Quality is always very acceptable, flavor is what you expect for this sort of American-palate Chinese Food, and portions are generous. TBH I've had more authentic or 'gourmet' Chinese food (usually for a LOT more money), but I can't say enough about the value and service at China Palace, especially for the average US person looking for 'Chinese Food'. I can be pretty critical of places I order from, but I have not a bad word to say about ordering delivery from China Palace. Also ... their Mongolian Beef is BOMB. Though it seems you have to ask for green onion in it otherwise it's only white onion. But just ask, they'll put 'em in there. Or anything else you want customized, they're very accommodating, another thing I love in a restaurant (as I mentioned above, but I love this about them!). I was not expecting much... but so pleasantly surprised for a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. I was craving pork dumplings, that's why we went. They were delicious... but then we both ordered combos - shrimp curry and bbq pork with snow peas. Yum! The wonton soup was excellent as well. We will be back soon. China Palace is a hidden gem that I have been dining at for almost a decade. In that time, I don't even think the prices have changed! I don't know how they do it, but they offer amazing lunch specials for under $8.00. These specials come with a spring roll, cream cheese ragoon, a small cup of delicious soup and plain fried rice, plus your entree. The last time we ordered in here with 4 meals, it cost only $35.00 after tax. You can't even order from a fast food restaurants at those prices. I highly recommend the beef egg foo young, best I have had in the valley. Their sweet and sour chicken is insanely delicious as well as their Mongolian beef. I honestly can say I never had a bad dish here. The owners know how to treat their customers right. They show true concern to make sure your food is right and you have enjoyed your meal. Also, you will never have an empty glass in front of you. Maybe it's because I live in a desert, but that is one of the things that marks good service in my book. If you close to this restaurant or in this side of town, give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

The restaurant inside was very clean and appealing. The background music was light and where it belonged in the background. I have been looking for a good local Chinese restaurant after a favorite of mine closed many years ago. The food was quickly prepared and served. Also, it was great, the hot sour soup was all I could wish for both my wife and I thought it was great. Worst Chinese food I ever tasted. I had Sweet & sour Pork and it certainly didn't taste like pork, I was guessing maybe some kind of fish and was terrible. I ate about 1/3, had to take tums 2 nights in a row because of heartburn. The other 3 were just as bad., chow main with way way too much Soya sauce while the other 2 had a 2 person combo and they didn't finish it. Disgusting. read more

Our favorite little hidden gem! We've been here several times now and always order when we have family in town too. Food is done quick and is fresh, always delicious. My favorite thing is they let you sub all white chicken for just $1 more. I'm very picky about chicken and they have never served us anything but quality meat. So Hubby likes this place because they make fairly decent fried rice. I was working late so he said he's gonna pick up Chinese. This is supposed to be vegetable egg foo young, what the heck??? If you look at the picture you will see a little blob at 10 o'clock that is the egg foo young. So they take one egg scramble as a make a little omelette is big as my fist and that's what they call egg foo yong??? One egg and 5 tons of vegetables around it. Shame on you. This is an atrocity and you're charging people money for this??? egg foo yong is supposed to be two or three nice omelettes with a little bit of gravy over it not sticking 5 tons of vegetables on top of it and calling it a meal. read more

We've only had takeout from here. Visiting family and Mom ordered a few dishes, and I was only able to try the Cream Cheese puffs and Sesame chicken (deep-fried battered chicken cubes), and the puffs were delicious, while the entree was just OK. I was happy enough that I could try it. I heard that the Orange chicken and lo mein were good, but due to food allergies, I couldn't try them myself. Mom and I ordered takeout again, and she had the Shrimp with Snowpeas, while I ordered Beef Lo Mein, which was just OK. China Palace uses SPAGHETTI noodles for lo mein entrees, and I prefer egg noodles. I've never heard of Chinese restaurants using spaghetti in any of their noodle dishes! The texture is different, and I definitely miss the egg noodle flavor. Will probably continue ordering takeout for Mom here, but I'm still looking for a great Chinese cuisine option in Mesa... read more

I've ordered delivery from China Palace twice via the Beyond Menu app, and both times everything we ordered was delicious. I always get the hot and spicy soup, and it's just the right level of spicy for me. I ordered the beef and broccoli this time around, and it was so good. Huge portions. Our office ordered from China Palace about every 2 weeks. We haven't been there very much in the last year for obvious reasons (thank you Covid). We decided to order again and were very disappointed the last two times as the young man answering the phones and greeting you when you walk in is extremely rude!!! Called to ask what the special was and his reply was "same thing it is everyday" - not so much what he said but how he said it. Then I arrived early to pick up our order and when I gave him my name he said 10 more minutes but he was hard to understand so I asked "10 minutes?" He snapped back and said "you didn't ask for it till 11:30" Again, not what he said but how he said it. Think it's time to find a new Chinese restaurant with polite customer service. read more

I would have giving zero star but that was not an option. This has always been a very fun and good place to come eat for the 22 yrs we have lived in Mesa. It was a fun place for our family to go. However, tonight, a Saturday night in the hot summer when there were only 2 guests in the whole place they refused to seat our family party of 8. There was plenty of room and no line. We were told because it was Saturday they could not push tables together. This was not acceptable and we left. Normally I would not think much of it but this is the Saturday before Father's Day. Our family came to spend Father's Day together at this place. Holidays are very difficult for our family as our 21 yr old daughter died 6 yrs ago. Our granddaughter loves the soup here and we thought it would be a fun memory to make. SHAME ON YOU! SHAME...ON...YOU for having no compassion and accommodating our family. Seems my Fav is under new management. The folks are nice, but the recipes have changed, the flavors have muted. I've tried 3 times and my old stand bys of Kung Pao Chicken, Shanghai Noodle Soup and Special Fried Rice are ghosts of their delectable pasts. RIP China Palace.
