Been a fan of China 1 for 10 years. Not anymore. The last couple of years the food quality has steadily deteriorated. I think the chef changed and the older people seem to have disappeared. Some of the food is barely eatable. All of my old favorites now are off the list. Sometimes even the rice is poorly done. real hit and miss ... mostly miss in the past year. Orders in quality & taste have not been consistent, likely attributed to different people cooking at different times of the day. This has been going on for over a year now. Working close by, we like & try to support local Businesses. Orders for Lunch & in mid Afternoon are usually very good, as experienced by myself & Co-Workers. However, Food quality & taste has not been good, or even cooked the same way later in the day, compared to Food Orders earlier in the day. Many of us have stopped Ordering after 4p when working on later Shifts or on our days off, for those of us living in Palm Harbor. We now Order from a Chinese Restaurant on the East Lake side of Palm Harbor, where we have not had any issues with Food Orders, no matter what time of the day we Order. Driving approximately 2 miles farther has been helpful for consistency & satisfaction when placing Food Orders at any time of the day. read more

Inedible. Both the "fried" rice and the noodles were mushy. Both dishes we got were bland.

Would have gotten 5 starts but, they double dipped the egg role in the deep fryer. VERY greasy. Have eaten here many times while traveling/staying in walking distance. Honestly, great food. Overpriced! We ordered 2 mains a soup a couple of egg rolls and dumplings appetizer rand it was 52.00! I've been going to Chinese restaurants in this area for a long time decided to try this place because our other place was closed and they're at least $15-$18 over what I pay for this order! I asked for that spicy mustard and they actually charged me an extra two dollars. In addition it was unbelievable. I've never been charged for mustard. Never again!! Food was fair! read more

It's kind of a Christmas tradition for us. We go out for a Chinese meal for lunch each year. Normally we go to a different restaurant than China 1, but we thought we'd try this just to shake things up. The food here was truly just average & plain. I ordered the Hot & Spicy Shrimp platter. As a platter it came with fried rice & an egg roll. The container the food came in was an even split with the fried rice. The Hot & Spicy Shrimp had zero spice to it. The sauce was more like a sweet & sour sauce. The shrimp tasted good, but not super fresh. The veggies were also not fresh, but almost like they came out of a packet or can. The egg roll was for sure something that was out of a large delivery box. I guess that was what was disappointing. Nothing was fresh but rather tasted like it'd all come out of premixed & already prepared bags & cans off a delivery truck. As a result the food was ok, but not excellent. Literally right up the road there is a much better Chinese restaurant using ultra fresh ingredients. I could easily tell the difference. read more

Going to have to lower my rating. Last order included the doughnuts and the oil they used tasted so old they were inedible. Also had beef with vegetables and the beef was nearly all fat. Our to go Chinese take out place for the past 18 years. Consistently fresh and tasty. We are always happy with the generous portions. Our favorites are sweet and sour chicken, hot and sour soup, cashew chicken, garlic chicken. It is a small and very busy take out place run by a pleasant local family. read more

Food is always excellent here! Staff are friendly, and they remember their regular customers. This is a great place for vegetarians! Their prepared tofu is very tasty, and their hot and sour soup is meatless! They even allow you to substitute veggie fried rice when the side calls for pork fried rice! Located off Hillsborough Ave, in a distressed stop mall, China King lives on. I have been around that area for about 15 years & I am quite sure they have been there quite some time. Things never seem to change, with the years Quiet, always clean, week organized & managed mom & pop community establishment. Food is always of fresh ingredients and made fresh to order. The prices are fair & the menu offers something for everyone. You order a dish with veggies & you definitely get your veggies & a wide variety. I am a snob about mongolian beef. Some restaurants substitute some green peppers, totally changing the taste. I get it's a lot of green onions, but that is the recipe. Not enough green onions, but plenty of onions & luckily no green peppers! One suggestion, please add brown rice as a substitution, even if you must do a slight up charge. I am sure I am not the only one that doesn't love white rice. What's a girl to do ? Keep going back, been great for years & don't see that changing. read more

Excellent Chinese food, we've been looking for some really good Chinese food and we finally found it. Great flavor and the portions are enough for leftovers or to share. This place has really good food and uses lots of fresh vegetables. Prices are fair and the variety on the menu was really good. They allowed for quick substitutions to their combo so I could quickly get the entree I wanted. The only CONs were the quantity of beef in the Hunan beef was a light and they don't deliver. Friendly, fast service, good solid Chinese American food -- the kind you hope for when you're in the mood for lomein noodles (with JUMBO shrimp!!), General Tso's chicken, beef & broccoli, or the other traditional take out go-to's! (They even threw in a little steamed broccoli as a garnish on the side of the chicken dish...a nice touch, both healthy and colorful.) Lacking! I give it a 4/10. Everything was mediocre at best. I will try out other places and will not be returning to China One. On the bright side, it was very cheap so I don't feel like we were ripped off. We ordered hot and sour soup, general Tso, bourbon chicken, egg rolls and both kinds of rice. Fortune cookies are free. The meat was chewy and stiff, the rice seemed old and hardish and the soup was lacking substance (where's all the ingredients?) and flavor, the egg rolls were bland and unable to differentiate the ingredients used inside, all mushed together. We finally found a decent Chinese takeout restaurant! The fried rice was the perfect consistency and seasoned well with yummy peas and onions of a nice texture. The jumbo shrimp lomein was chock full of shrimp and veggies and extremely flavorful. The spareribs were tender and juicy and the sauce was sweet and tangy.The staff was friendly and quick to get our food together and check us out.We will be back again. :) read more

Fair food, I have had better, but very convenient and close to home. I don't like that the kids are always running around the joint, but I take out so, I tolerate it for a few minutes. Just need to remember that the customer, in the store, is more important than that phone call. Don't make me wait for food that is bagged, and ready to go, just because you want to take the next order. Pick up, ask them to hold, hand over the warm food, and then, take your next order. Last night I ordered take out for the first time had the house fried rice & pu up platter for two. The food was fresh & delicious comes close to NY Chinese take out. The portions are good as well.
