Tom Yum is a very quaint and unassuming restaurant, but once inside the staff is exceptionally nice and the food is great. I went out on a limb to try something new and opted for the Mother in Law beef: consisting of an assortment of steamed veggies and chilis with chopped beef. The flavor was exceptional and i ordered it Thai hot for an extra kick (for those capsaicin junkies). For dessert we had the mango sticky rice which was purple and was a fun surprise! I dunno if this place is 'hidden', but it's a gem. I thoroughly enjoyed this food, and the service. Even the vibe is nice, tv on the wall, staff looked happy to work there, old folks eating there comfie enough to talk honestly about their neighbor who's an asshole, (yeah I just happed to hear that, cuz maybe I was listening too hard, not that it messed up my dining experience.) The menu has a lot of choices, but not in an annoying way. And by the smells in there, I believe they could make it all. The cat on the menu made me giggle. We had a few rolls with eel, cuz i love it, and some sushi pieces and some tempura, and it was all grand. Specifically I couldn't tell you, cuz I didn't make note of it, and I was too distracted by the conversation. So I'm adding pics so you may figure it out. Solid Thai food and sushi. They have been a local staple for years with good reason. Good vegan options with tasty tofu and fresh veggies. Something for everyone. I've stuck with the green curry for years but now I'm trying everything else. My picky hubs likes the veggie roll and chicken with brown sauce or sweet and sour. I had ginger tofu it was good, could be spicier, I asked for Thai hot but had to get the spice tray. In-laws get garlic pepper chicken and like it. To notch thai dishes. I've had their drunken noodles a few times now and they are great. I love their veggies. They are really good quality. The people there are so nice and welcoming. Very low quality and careless preparation. I placed an order to take home, shrimp tempura and some sticky rice. The tempura was inedible, soggy and over battered. Tasted like rancid oil. The shrimp cut into a long, skinny shape. Never saw such a thing. The sticky rice was a ball of rice wrapped in plastic wrap which was all melted into the rice because it has been put in the microwave without removing the plastic. And why the microwave? The only thing that comes to mind is that the rice was refrigerated, probably cooked hours or even days prior. Disgusting! I'm not coming back there, ever. read more

Just moved to the area and had second thoughts about eating at this restaurant because of the building. I decided to try it based on the good Yelp reviews! One of the reasons I love Yelp and leave reviews! This place was so amazing, every food item we ate wash fresh and delicious! The soft shell tempura crab was fresh and delicious and it came with several tempura vegetables. The spicy tuna roll fresh and delicious. I also had the Pork Katsu and it was the best Katsu I have ever had! The ginger dressing on the salad was real ginger and so yummy. They have a great selection of bottle beers. To top off the meal the Thai Doughnuts were hot right out of the grease, fluffy and drizzled with a condensed milk glaze and crushed peanuts. TL; DR: Tasty potstickers, bomb wonton soup, hella good fried rice that you won't be sorry to eat again tomorrow, decent crab rangoon, and a solid red curry. This place is small and occupies a corner spot in a little strip mall, but despite that, it's always fairly busy. They offer beer and wine, and a full sushi menu. I've yet to order the sushi myself, but I've been told it's good. I usually go to Pattaya Thai on Gulf to Bay, but Tom Yum is a bit closer to me - however, they're close enough in terms of quality that I'd flip a coin for which one to visit. Pattaya is usually quieter, but this place has sushi. ‍ Don't sleep on this spot or be turned off by its location. It's a solid place to get some really satisfying Thai food. read more

It was dry and tasted dipped in butter. The chicken coconut soup is made with coconut milk, so I thought a bit of a creamy base, but it was watery. Tasted ok. The vegis (onions and mushrooms) were raw (prefer a big cooked in the hot soup). Many ppl said there were large portions. We ordered a side of rice and it came rolled up in plastic, the size a small fist. I tasted like it was microwaved In the plastic..Unwrapped, It wasn't edible. The rice tasted like it was still in the plastic? I'm not sure how else to explain but terrible. The seafood pad sew was a very small portion. Not good either. I've been coming here for a few years now. Prices are good, food quality and taste is consistently on point, and the service is always genuine and kind. Is this the best Thai food? Mmm no.. Is it the best in the area? Again, probably not but around the same level. But this place absolutely leaves you satisfied and happy. Everything is delicious though a bit more mild- probably catering to most people's taste. Honestly none of the dishes I've had here have ever been the best version I've had -except for the spring rolls they are incredible. Also they offer quite a few creative specials that aren't typical Thai dishes. Portions are large and full of fresh veggies and great quality proteins. The servers are wonderful and really hustle when it's busy. I've never had to wait for a table here, but it is usually decently full for dinner. I also like that there is plenty of natural light. I love to get the sashimi appetizer here. It's incredibly fresh and the slices are nice and thick. For about $10, you get nine pieces of tuna, whitefish, and salmon. Another standout are the spring rolls. All the flavors are so well balanced, really unique dipping sauce and even the filling was meaty and full of great ingredients. These are a must order. Their chicken coconut soup (tom kha gai) is also very nice for a reasonable price of $4. Their curries have a great balance of flavors as well. I have pretty high standards for Thai food and while this place doesn't really pack a flavor punch, it is seriously a delightful experience all around. read more
