RIPOFF! Small portions and expensive! $8+ a plate of two choices.
    Marko C.

This has got to the the worst Fast-Food Chinese I have eaten in about 20 years! ONE STAR! The restaurant is located in the Dessert Hills Premium Outlet food court. The food court is somewhat small, since they only have 4 food vendors at this location. I originally decided to get the 1-choice plus noodles/fried rice combination for ~$6.50. The servings are SMALL and CHEAP! I literally got a tongs full of noodles and a scoop full of orange chicken. It was served on a flimsey takeout plate. I realized that the portions were so small, I decided to (wrongly) order a second choice option to my meal for another $1.50. I added the spicy fried chicken, and the owner added 2 pieces of wingettes to my plate. For $8.00, here is the small plate that I got (use the size of the small jalapeno to judge how little the food was)! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/o0CttwwbxM92m9HVH0ytzQ?select=CcBBZ02QVN5aXgCJ3Edjfg#CcBBZ02QVN5aXgCJ3Edjfg The noodles were typical of any fast food Chinese places. Noodles were oversalted with absolutely no flavor. The chicken was itsy-bitsy pieces of chicken deep fried with a LOT of batter. Little flavor. Surprisingly, the spicy fried chicken was tasty, hot, and fresh, but TWO pieces @ $0.75 a wingette? Come'on! Service was pretty bad. The owner who ran the restaurant was at the cash register. She got pissed off at me when I said I didn't want to order a small drink for $2+. She didn't keep eye contact with me, because she kept on looking at the security monitor that was placed next to the register (she was watching her workers in the back cooking the food). Food Grade: D- Service Grade: D- Worth the Money grade: F Overall Impression: D-/F

Overlooked "soup" of mushy vegetables, tough meat and salty liquid.

The most gross Chinese food I've ever had. Everything is super over cooked mush (vegetables) and tough and dry (meat) while soaking in a liquid that tastes of pure MSG and nothing else. STAY AWAY.

Orange chicken and broccoli beef combo. See the piece of beef I spit out to the right because it was so disgusting.
    Annie C.

Don't be fooled by the crowd of Chinese tourists waiting in line here. This place has one star for a reason. Ok, I get it, you're a shitty Chinese fast food place at the outlet mall. You're not aspiring for greatness. But China Max is awful. My broccoli beef was INEDIBLE. I literally spit it out as soon as I had one bite because I did not want to get food poisoning then drive all the way back to LA. You'd be better off strolling over to In N Out. Eat here at your own risk.

If I can put ZERO stars I would... Rude customer service... The owner was on some "you buy now" stuff. Clearly he hasn't been in the states that long. We ordered a 3 item combo and our plate was too full so we asked him to put the 3rd item on another plate. He refused to do it and wanted to charge us an additional fee. He was acting like he'd die if he gave us an extra flimsy paper plate. And then when we left I was sitting down and I saw these to little kids walk up to him and ask for quarters for their dollar and he straight blew them off. Like looked at them like they were crazy. This guy is just ignorant, and won't last in the real world.

Horrible. Disgusting. DO NOT EAT HERE!
    Boris T.

Horrible. Food is dry, flavorless, poor quality. I was hungry and was put in a position where this was the only option available. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, even if its the only place open and you are starving. Im surprised they are still in business, although I wouldn't be surprised if they closed soon.

We ordered 3 entree combo and the third item was put on top of the whole plate with only 3 small pieces of chicken so sloppy! When we kindly asked the server to add more chicken she was very rude and said "if you want more hicken order something else."

I wouldn't say it's the most traditional (granted, it doesn't claim to be), but overall, it was decent. The Combo Fried Rice and Sticky Ribs took center stage, followed by the Poke Nachos. The Shrimp Wonton Soup fell a bit short, with some of the noodles bundled together, causing parts of it to be undercooked. As for the Salt & Pepper Fish, I personally thought it could have used a bit more salt... Service: Amazing! We sat at the bar and were waited on by an attentive person, with a great demeanor. Sticky BBQ pork rib - it's really a Thai dish but excellently executed, grilled over charcoal and brushed with tangy honey bbq sauce, it's fall-off-the-bone tender and a must-get appetizer/bar bite. Shrimp fried rice - one of the best versions I've had, and that includes Din Tai Fung. It's packed with jumbo prawns and the fried rice was wokked to perfection, so full of umami and flavor. Service was also exceptionally courteous, made me feel like a VIP, even though I was sitting at the bar.

The food male server behind the hot fast food counter was so busy chatting with a young lady customer ahead of me while attending to her orders, he was all smiles and very jolly making conversations with her who seems a friend of his .... When finally he finished her transaction and it was my turn, his facial expression changed drastically, his smile was replaced by a very stern face and impolitey impatiently asking me what I wanted to order . After paying him for my orders , I found a seat and from where I was seated I have been observing him how he was taking and serving orders to other customers.... It was the same as he was with me ! Tonight we tried to go eat and the girl behind the counter said she couldn't seat us because the wait was 20 minutes, I said okay we can wait but can we sit at this table and she says no. I asked her if it was reserved and she says no it's not but since there are only two cooks, the wait for food will be awhile and she hasn't taken the orders of two other tables. So what are you doing to where you have customers waiting is what I am thinking because when we walked in, her and the other person there were standing behind the counter. I didn't understand why we couldn't sit and wait and wasn't going to waste my time arguing so we went somewhere else. No food is good enough to wait forever for especially being told we couldn't have a sit and wait because of whatever bs explanation she gave me. Not sure we will be back but who knows....maybe it was one of those days. Update and response to owner: The tables were "reset" and ready for seating. The waitress stated we couldn't sit because there were only two cooks and pretty much all orders were behind 20 minutes. She still didn't take the orders of two other tables and even though I told her we were okay with the wait, she said she still couldn't seat us. In addition to that, besides it being a holiday weekend, I've stated that other times we've had to wait even during the middle of the week. Like I said, food is good, it's the customer service that needs to be worked on. Others may disagree with me but I said what I said from my own experience with your restaurant.

For a Saturday at 4:30pm, we were seated and waited on immediately. The menu was expansive and I was surprised with the amount of vegetarian options for a Chinese restaurant. Our server was helpful in suggesting various fish options and knew their wait times. Some notable dishes were the sizzling beef with black pepper, beef scallion rolls, honey walnut chicken, mapo tofu, and fried chicken. The dishes that could be improved for flavor were the vegetarian steamed dumplings, steamed whole fish, and beef chow fun. We probably ordered around 8-10 plates (all dishes came with rice) and many arrived at the same time. The prices were very reasonable for the portions and it was just enough for everyone. Since we had a birthday celebrant, they were able to put our personal cake in the fridge. Our server provided a complimentary matcha cheesecake and candle towards the end of our meal. His robot server sidekick also sang happy birthday! I did feel like they were understaffed because the lobby hostess had to find the server for me several times when I asked for our cake and the check. When we arrived, the hostess attempted to seat us at a table that would not have comfortably accommodated our group. I politely asked if we could be seated at a nearby table that had more space. In response, she rolled her eyes and let out an audible sigh, which felt unprofessional and dismissive. When we were eventually seated at the requested table, she placed the menus down abruptly and did not hand one to me directly, instead leaving it at the end of the table. The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude and, frankly, not in line with the level of service I would expect from a hostess. That said, I want to note that the rest of our experience was positive. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The food itself was also very good (I would not recommend the orange chicken though) and something I would return for. I hope management takes the opportunity to address the front-of-house experience, as first impressions matter and can significantly impact a guest's overall perception.
