I ordered VEGETABLE EGG FOO YOUNG and every bite had a GRITTY taste to it; it reminded me of EGG SHELL that when accidentally mixed up in the egg batter and it was very apparent in the taste and texture; either it was egg shells or the dish was DROPPED on the floor. Rather expensive Chinese take out. But had the better reviews. I got the boneless spare rib combo. The "pork" was loaded in a tasty rib sauce; albeit a tad over cooked & chewy. The fried rice wasn't flavorful. I suspect the very yellow color was from food coloring and certainly not eggs. There weren't any! My husband got the vegetable Egg Foo Young and said it was very good. Filled with onion, broccoli and maybe peppers. I might try another dish from here but certainly not the fried rice. The egg roll was mainly filled with tasteless cabbage and what might be bits of pork? The egg roll wrapper was nice and crunchy, not oily. The staff were pleasant. The food was hot and served up quickly. There are some tables to dine in but it's mainly a takeout place. It was clean inside. read more

My parents favorite Chinese restaurant in town so I had to try it when I was visiting. I opted for the steamed chicken, veggies with white rice. It was delish and the amount of food in that 1 dish provided me 2 meals...yay! It's a popular spot and the service is very quick. read more

We have been loyal customers of China King since moving to the area a year ago. I am writing this review after much deliberation as I think it's important to speak out. Last month, after ordering a couple of dishes, the two people that ate the pepper steak dish got severely ill. One of us ended up late that night in the local emergency room, where they confirmed and treated food poisoning. China King's careless food preparation cost us a health emergency as well as a $500 hospital co-pay. Not giving them a second chance. They lost our trust and our regular business. I give them 2 stars because the service was fast. The food was horrible. The Teriyaki chicken didn't taste like Teriyaki chicken. The Lo Mein was terrible and the beef in the Lo Mein was not seasoned at all. Won't be back here. read more

I always have trouble remembering, is this the Chinese restaurant I hate or is it another one. Maybe the problem is I don't like any of them except one that's over by Giant Foods. So on to the food review. Standard fare with standard pictures in a standard takeout spot. A lunch special and an order of steam dumplings came to 17 bucks and the lunch special simply was so called fried rice and kung pao chicken and nothing else. If that's a lunch special then give me the regular lunch. My bad I forgot to order white rice because-- it's not that I don't like fried rice, it's that the fried rice is the kind that comes out of a big plastic bag and tastes like plastic that has been recycled from that stuff they say floats in the ocean-- you know microplastic? Yellow and hard and tasteless and really I don't know why they bother. The Kung Pao chicken had a few nice strips of chicken breast but not enough, was spiced exactly the way I asked for which was mildly hot but the spice was pepper flakes and not the whole dried red chilies that you're generally finding with Kung Pao chicken. The peanuts were tasteless and the celery was bland-- I don't know how they accomplish that, usually there's some snap. The dumplings were the kind you get out of a bag. I guess that's predictable, and the dumpling sauce was maybe only oily soy sauce and anything else. I made my own. Food was not memorable enough or inexpensive enough to repeat the experience. I will say the place looked clean and the food didn't give me any serious gastric upsets. But it was a boring meal with bad rice. If you go, order the white rice not the "fried". read more

I was looking for another great Chinese take out place and I have found it ! I got the lunch special shrimp lo mein. It came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I also ordered a pint of egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was okay but I did like that it came with the wonton noodles. The shrimp lo mein was pretty good ! There was a lot of shrimp and it wasn't too salty or greasy. The fried rice was pretty good as well! Good flavors and had chunks of roasted red pork in it. Pretty impressed. I'm glad this place is near my house. Next time I have a craving for Chinese take out again I don't have to drive far ! read more

Stopped in for take out. Service is fast and food is tasty. We enjoyed the beef and broccoli and the wonton soup.

After ordering, confirming it twice, and getting all the way home...my order was still messed up. Ordered the regular fried wontons with nothing but the cream cheese filling (nothing special). What did I get instead? Wontons filled with meat! Not what I asked for! read more

We've frequented this restaurant for years because food is always fresh and delicious. The owners are honest and have made billing mistakes in the past that they caught and corrected, crediting our account. It is a very clean establishment and our orders have always been ready and we've never had to wait long for service. We only order takeout bc there isn't much of a dining room. We did a walk in order, never having been there before. We ordered Beef and Mushrooms (Qt) and "Chef Special" Orange Chicken. We have had Orange Chicken from dozens of restaurants, this was a disappointment. The Orange sauce had a chemical taste? It had the same taste as the smell of our "Citrus" shower cleaner. Perhaps they used a powder to get the orange flavor and added too much? I would NOT try this again. Beef and Mushrooms were a first as we typically get the broccoli. It was flavorful, onions were a surprise and would order this again. The portions were excellent. When I picked up the bag, it felt like I was picking up nearly a gallon of milk. By far the best Chinese food in middletown. They are a little slow but that's because they stay so busy! Delivery through Door Dash adds an automatic 3.99 PLUS tip so if you can pick it up then I suggest you do so. You won't be disappointed with any choice. read more

I used to love the food at this restaurant; however, the quality of the food is definitely not as good as it used to be. My favorite dishes were General Taos Chicken and Shrimp Egg Foo Young. The last two times that I've purchased the dishes I noticed an slightly unpleasant after taste. I called and spoke with the owner the first time and he replied that they had recently switched suppliers. I tried them again Saturday, 11/4 and experienced the same.
