They are extremely nice here. However, I am confused as to what Chinese food is in Southern Delaware. The roast pork fried rice is good and so are the ribs. Then that is where it ends for us. Strange. We have lived in many places. Chine Express is the best in the area. Do not bother wasting your money at the other places near Bethany, Ocean View, and Fenwick. Best Chinese food hands down. I'm super surprised being from New York where you have your pick of Chinese restaurants, but this one competes and in some cases supersedes. First off, the creativity and hustle they have during Covid19 is admirable. If you pull Up there is a sign to wait in your car to get curbside pick up because indoor is closed and their mom is 74. So being extra cautious. Then you have the food dropped off by someone zipping through the parking lot on one of those electronic boards. It's an amazing scene. Then even smarter hack is a mic attached inside the mask so You can hear clearly. Genius!!! Okay, now for the food. We kept it simple being our first time and got vegetable lo mein, shrimp general Tso's not on the menu, but by request they make it and steamed rice. Everything came Out piping hot and was delicious. Not greasy, not oily, fresh and cooked to perfection. Good portion size can definitely feed 2-4 people. With complimentary fried wonton noodles not the skinny type the flat ones and of course fortune cookies. 10/10!! read more

Food was good, not the best Chinese food I've tasted but probably can't expect authentic Chinese food I'm a resort area. Meh. Just meh. We spent $80 on takeout here last night. They forgot one entire meal, the mu sho pork was just shredded veggies and mushrooms, there was so little pork in it it could have been a vegan meal. The fried shrimp was soggy and the spicy General Tso chicken was not spicy but it was gelatinous. read more

It's been a very long time since I've had good Chinese food. We had a little bit of everything from steamed dumplings, crab Rangoon, beef noodle soup and Kung pao chicken. The Crab Rangoon was delicious and not over fried. It's a cute little place that only does carry out after 3:00. I wish they delivered. read more

It's easy to pass by a restaurant called "China Express," which is only slightly less common of a name than "#1 Chinese Restaurant." (Side note: I'd consider dining in the #2 Chinese restaurant, too, so maybe my taste isn't very discriminating.) Our party of 8 ordered take-out. The man behind the counter was friendly and helpful. The interior seemed clean. (We didn't use the restroom, so I can't comment on that.) I felt the eggrolls, crab rangoon, and moo goo gai pan all lacked flavor. I kept asking my fellow diners, "What's missing? It seems tasteless." Upon reflection, I think it's possible that this restaurant avoids the use of MSG. Great for my health! Bad for my tastebuds Despite the lack of flavor, the food was perfectly cooked. The meat was tender (so often Chinese places overcook meat to the point of toughness). The vegetables were cooked but crisp, and they all appeared bright and fresh. I prefer a stickier white rice (but that's just personal preference) and this one was fluffier and more "American" style. The sesame chicken was spot on delicious. We finished the entire order and wished for more. LOVED that it wasn't breaded. And unlike other parts of the meal, it was very rich and flavorful. The other chicken dish (with cashews) was also tasty and enjoyable to eat. In the end, I ate 2 heaping plates of everything we ordered, so I think I can safely say that the food was pretty good. read more

This place is great takeout Chinese, better than almost anything I've had back in DC. Orange chicken is nice and crunchy without being too gummy or thick. Lo mein was great, as were the dumplings. After living in the area over a year, I heard this was the best Chinese food in the area. Tried it for the first time. I soon realized, I moved somewhere without good Chinese food. Hot and sour soup was neither, tasted like egg drop. Chicken in Garlic Sauce tasted like sweet and sour sauce with chili oil. I have had several so-so experiences with Chinese takeout in the area. China Express was a pleasant change -- the food was good! The order was hot, ready on time and the place seemed pretty popular which is a good sign. The portions were generous and tasty. The sauces used were not overly sweet and syrupy like some places I have tried. I really liked their egg fried rice as well. Haven't tasted the food yet but sitting in car getting ready to call order in and out popped a man who not only brought me a menu but then came back out to take my order. Haven't seen service like this in forever. Way to go China express. Watched him delivery food to other cars and he was so friendly with all and a smile. Had dinner here with the family and we ordered a variety of dishes. The food here is good, portions are not normal size. The place is not very big so if you're here during the peak season call ahead and perhaps make a reservation. We were here in the off season and were seated right away. read more

Very nice place, nothing fancy just a carry out with good food. Staff was friendly, they were fairly busy, food was fast. Stopped in for some food heading back from a day at the beach. The food tasted really good but the portions were small. None of the containers were even near full. At best they were about 2/3 full. I thought the pricing was in line because it is a resort area and food is usually a little more expensive. We fed a family of 6 and the take out total was $56. Usually ordering this number of dishes we would have enough food to feed at least 2 more people. Nothing was leftover. Call early, we could not get through for more then 30 minutes and then waited an hour before picking up. As I said the food was really good so this explains the long wait. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great. The chicken fried rice didn't have any vegetables in it, and the chicken was tough. They opened at 3:30 and we placed our order as soon as they opened, but the chicken in the chicken fried rice didn't seem fresh. When we placed the order, they asked if we wanted onions in the rice; we said yes. However, it was just rice, onions, and chicken; there was nothing else like egg, peas, carrots, etc. like there usually is in fried rice. We also got sesame chicken. Usually sesame chicken is fried and crispy and covered in sauce. This chicken wasn't fried or crispy, it was just normal chicken cut up in sauce. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't normal sesame chicken. The lunch specials had plenty of food for a great price, they offer to add vegetables of your choice for no extra charge, and the management was incredibly friendly! The dining area is quite small and very popular at lunch (we went on a Wednesday) so takeout is a better option if you don't have time to wait for a table. Will definitely be back! read more

After coming to Bethany Beach for many years, you learn food at a beach town is usually mediocre at best, especially takeout places. We end up cooking our own meals most of the week and go out just a few times. We got China Express take out last night and it was excellent. They are friendly and specific on the phone to make sure you get the right order (e.g., cheese wontons vs. fried wontons). Currently, they bring everything out to your car. This was quick and efficient. They make sure you have everything for your meal - napkins, chopsticks, sauces. We had standard takeout fare - sesame beef, chicken with snow peas, curry chicken, fried wontons, dumplings, etc. Everything was tasty and cooked well - the beef was crispy not soggy, the dumplings had lots of flavor, and the chicken had a nice curry flavor without being overpowering. I was impressed. My only complaint is they gave too many sauce packets and I felt guilty having to throw a few out. We will definitely be back. read more

A hidden not-so-secret gem! This place has only a few tables and it gets packed - go for takeout but theoretically you can eat there if you can get a reservation. They are knowledgeable about gluten intolerance issues and are able to adjust several of the dishes (I think I've had Kung pao beef, crispy coated in cornstarch, and egg drop soup) to be gluten free. Haven't been to China Express in a few months -- what happened?? I ordered fried rice and sesame chicken and there wasn't much of anything in either one. The fried rice was basically brown rice and there were no vegetables in the sesame chicken. What could be wrong with all chicken you ask?? Well, it results in a monotonous, one-note dish. Tried other restaurants and not happy so I gave CE a try, Ordered chicken & broccoli, veggie fried rice and a spring roll. Chicken and sauce was just alright, it seemed to me broccoli had been frozen then thawed, it was overcooked and mushy. Veggie fried rice had carrot sticks that were oblivious from a bag from Sysco, carrots we not cooked and the rice lacked flavor. Spring roll lacked flavor as well and at $1.30 was well overpriced. Considering your choices in the Bethany Beach area when it comes to Chineese food this is about the best you can expect. read more
