I should have walked out the moment I saw the food trays were empty. I used to love this place, but after today, I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. The fried rice was being prepared, but it was basically plain white rice with soy sauce -- no vegetables at all. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, but the taste was definitely not the same. The beef and broccoli was also disappointing; the beef was still red and didn't seem fully cooked. The orange chicken tasted old and not fresh. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my opinion of this place. I won't be coming back. read more

The owner always remembers me, knows what I like and is eager to let me try his new dishes out and I'm happy to oblige. This is the only place that makes me crave Zucchini! I love coming here and getting the freshly sautéed veggies in the Kung Pao Chicken (hot) that are full of flavor but still have the right amount of crunch. Mind you I don't like spice but I don't mind for these veggies. You can eat the sweet and sour chicken plain and it's still savory . I love everything on the menu and as always be a repeat customer. For starters, I was a little skeptical walking in when I noticed that half the food was missing at the time. After asking the employee if they could make anything else/more, he had no issues making whatever I wanted fresh. So that saved face for the spot for me, when my initial instinct was to find another Chinese spot. I had no issues with the service, the price was fairly cheap, my cravings were satisfied. Went here over another close one due to 4.1 stars but honestly its was disappointing. Food was too salty and seemed like all sauces were extra thick. Teriyaki didn't look like teriyaki and the orange chicken was so dreadful. Service was mid, they were semi friendly and the ambiance was just meh. I don't think I can try this place again. Luckily when I arrived they were out of my two favorite items- orange chicken and jalapeño chicken, so I was able to wait a few minutes to have freshly cooked chicken for both of my entrees. The chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls are average, just as good as any other fast food place. The reason to eat here is definitely because the entrees are tasty and crispy. We were greeted and offered a sample as soon as we walked in! The person serving was very attentive and when we ordered he PACKED THE BOX. I mean the portions were huge! We ordered 3 spring rolls on the side and ate there and he even offered us an extra plate since he saw we were splitting the combo box. Customer Service was Great! Now let's get to the food, the Spring Rolls were PERFECTION, so crisp and flavorful. The orange chicken and the kung po were my favorite. I normally go to this Chinese spot instead of Louisiana Fried Chicken around the corner. (Yes, Louisiana Fried Chicken in Downey near the Food 4 Less serves Chinese food). Between the two of them, this one has more of what I like. They often have a spicy eggplant/tofu dish (although hopefully when I go, it isn't the lady cooking. The older gentleman chef cooks much better). Their Egg Foo Yung & Sweet Sour Chicken is made to order. I appreciate that they carry canned diet 7-up. Not too many places offer caffeine-free diet soda. Always friendly service. I just tried their Chicken Pho recently. Its so yummy. $6. They also offer Beef Meatball, Shrimp & plain veggie. I like it better than Pho Mely down a couple doors. China Express' version comes without the mint leaf garnish, but I can deal with that since it is much less greasy, a larger serving, and very very tasty. read more

I try to support small businesses, but the food here is a health risk, the BBQ pork to be exact had gone bad, of course I didn't know until I got home and took a bite! I couldn't spit it out fast enough. I also had chicken I carefully inspected and smelled it but I just couldn't shake the pork, fine.. Really great Chinese takeout! They give generous portions and it's cheap too! I got the Chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, and the broccoli beef. I've been here before as they are in a convenient area on the way to and from nearby errand destinations, and they have always been very courteous and kind and their food has almost always been consistent. Like anywhere you go, it all depends on who is doing the cooking. One of my favorite things to order in any Asian restaurant is something with eggplant and it is not always served everywhere, but they serve eggplant with tofu here. I prefer it to be more salty / spicy instead of sweet. I also like to order their steaming hot soups... and they have many fresh fruit smoothies with or without boba (customize your sugar preference) for only $2.99 plus tax. Their health rating is an A, the interior is very clean and brightly lit, and they have convenient hours as well. Note, the closing hours for Sunday is 8:00 p.m. not 9:00 p.m. Nothing stops me from going back again and again.
