Best Chinese Food in town!!! Every time we go there it never lets you down. So glad they have reopened for dine in but to go is just as good. Their Orange Chicken is by far the best I've had at any restaurant to the point that if we go somewhere else we don't order the orange chicken. Our other favorites are the Potstickers, Sizzling Rice Soup, Mongolian Chicken, Pillow Chicken, Prawns in Lobster Sauce, Snow White Chicken, and Egg Foo Young. The only real issue is parking. It is Central Phoenix and most restaurants have limited parking. But keep in mind if you are going on a Friday or Saturday night or any other busy time you might have to park down the street in the vacant dirt lot. Restaurant opened at 4:30 pm on Sunday. We arrived before 5 pm. I immediately used the restroom. It was filthy with hardly any soap or toilet tissue. The restaurant was crowded; a nice family atmosphere, but also very loud. All personnel wore masks. I ordered the wonton soup. It was a large portion, enough for 2. It was average tasting. We were served smaller cups with which to serve ourselves the soup. Both my cup and saucer had food stuck on it and had to be replaced. I ordered Mongolian Chicken and asked that it be just a little spicy. It was bland so I sent it back. A few minutes later I received another dish which tasted exactly the same as the previous one (which it probably was). I was really looking forward to enjoying the food at this restaurant. There are so many great reviews here. Unfortunately, the uncleanliness that I experienced coupled with the poor service and food deserves a zero. read more

This restaurant is such a treasure. The absolute best Chinese restaurant in Phoenix for takeout. Equally as wonderful when dining in, but I really love getting takeout from here and spreading it out buffet-style on the kitchen counter. Whenever we have houseguests at our winter home, it is almost guaranteed we'll end up ordering takeout from China Chili one of the nights. Orders are made fresh and swiftly, and the order is correct every time we get home. Love the reliability, and the fantastic food. The only issue I have, which is more an annoyance than anything, is that they close so darn early. Please stay open until 10pm for your customers, I promise I'll order from you way more often! read more

I've heard about this place for years but never got here. I was going to meet a friend who lives in the neighborhood for lunch so I used Yelp to find a Chinese lunch and this was one of the options. I chose the Curried Chicken which was tasty and the chicken was very tender. It came with a bowl of Hot and Sour soup which was also good. Service was very good the entire time. Pricing was very reasonable. It is a large open room with mostly 4 tops that can be moved around for larger groups. I would definitely come back again. read more

SUPER DELICIOUS i came here with my family a couple days ago and it was our first time, my dad was craving chinese food and let me tell you it just hit the spot. it was a pretty large place not to crowded or loud the servers were pretty attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. everything was seriously so delicious i honestly expected it to be terrible due to the non appetizing pictures that i had seen but you must see everything in person its so great! spin table for everyone to share the plates and the plates are all shareable it was honestly so great nothing tasted bad and we got a variety of things like sesame chicken orange chicken crab puffs egg rolls fried rice and white rice honey walnut shrimp and a seafood nest which had amazing vegetables in it by the way. i guess the only con was that it was super expensive and they tipped themselves $25 for some reason. great food but honestly also over priced read more

Tasty, fast, and reasonably priced, this is a great takeout option IMO. Ordered through the app and my food was delivered less than 35 minutes later (although I'm fairly close to the restaurant), and my entire order was hot and complete, with no missing items or accoutrements. Came in for lunch on a weekday and the establishment was very clean, lovely ambience and the dinning room was vibrant with guests! My colleague and I ordered from the lunch special menu which included soup and a veggie roll. She had the orange chicken which looked divine (it was a full breaded fried chicken breast sliced and sautéed in their sauce). I had the kung pao chicken which was equally delicious. Really good house chow fun! Meats were not dry! Usually this level of Chinese food starts with cooked meats and just adds different sugary msg sauces. While the chicken had been sitting, it drys out. I went here for my friend's graduation dinner. We were served the traditional and authentic 10-course banquet-style dinner. I didn't even know this place existed until that night! The food is pure Hong Kong style cooking without the unnecessary frills --- just the way I like it! The food comes hot and fresh and the wait stuff is friendly. I can't remember every single dish that was served as it was an extremely festive night with lots of loud talking and cheers but I do recall the roasted duck and steamed fish in soy sauce with ginger and onions being amongst my favorite. We're always on the lookout for good Chinese in the Valley, and now we have another option (not too far from home) with China Chili. I didn't expect CC to be such a large restaurant, and they were hopping to boot! The atmosphere was welcoming - casual and old school; I especially love the disco ball in the main dining room. The servers are serious and efficient, perhaps because they don't speak much English, but with so many customers, it works out fine... I imagine most people are there for the food anyways. So without further adieu, here's what we ordered for our family-style dinner: -Pot Stickers (I didn't have these but everyone else did and enjoyed them!) -Sizzling Rice Soup -Honey Walnut Prawns -Sichuan Style String Beans (we ordered with no pork and extra spicy thanks to a tip I found in Julie P's yelp review) -House Chow Fun Noodles -One of their house special steak dishes (I think it was Sizzling Black Pepper Beef in a dark sauce). What is the hubub over China Chili?!?! Don't understand the high rating this restaurant is getting?!? I had not been back to this area for 5+ years and wanted to stay near downtown Phoenix where my friend lives. I looked up high-rated Chinese restaurants in downtown Phoenix and China Chili, of course, came out on top. Well folks, you yelpers here are totally fooled! First of all when you sit down, the menu gives the impression that this restaurant is a Szechaun or Hunan restaurant. It's NOT! The chefs at this restaurant are Cantonese serving Szechaun and Hunan dishes. For starters, my friend and I ordered Sizzling Rice Soup. As entrees, we ordered Szechaun Shrimp and Braised Tofu with Beef. I had a hint of what was to come by listening to the waitresses... Surprise! They all were speaking in Cantonese! The Sizzling Rice Soup was very good. The Szechaun Shrimp turned out to be a Sweet and Sour dish... Shocking! There are almost NO dishes in Szechaun cooking that are Sweet and Sour! It looked nice though, the shrimp was ringed around the plate by thin slices of cucumber. The Braised Tofu with Beef was almost as bad, chemically tenderized beef that probably is used from another dish and dropped in the Braised Tofu. Both dishes were supposed to be HOT... NOT! The only redeeming thing we got out of this adventure was that our wallets were not affected that much by the experience! Demographics of Customers @ 6pm - less than 5% Oriental, 40% of capacity. If you want an authentic Szechaun restaurant, travel down to Tempe to Wong's Place on Baseline Road off of I-60. I've been enjoying lunches and dinners here over the years with friends, with my swim team, and with visitors and guests. Each and every time the food was delicious, served in generous portions, and it didn't take long for food to be brought to the table even when I was with relatively large groups. While definitely Asian, the flavors lean a bit toward westernized - not a bad thing here, really; the food is always very tasty. I especially love how they prepare their fish: really tender and succulent. I also recommend their tofu dishes and if you want a different spin on this Asian beancurd staple, try their pillow tofu. The restaurant itself is big and spacious, a bit gaudily decorated as most big old-fashioned Chinese restaurants are, and the service is fast and efficient. Very typical Chinese restaurant nothing special (if you're from the west coast or the east coast your finest food to be very familiar), I ordered a vegetable roll as well last Chinese noodles (Chow Fun) chicken. I also ordered a $6.25 Riesling (Which should be a sweet table wine because it is generally a dessert aperitif ) ....My vegetable roll was okay as well as my noodle dish (there was a large serving so I actually took half of that home); I was not very happy with the wine... It was to dry to A Riesling ... simply very very very very very cheap version. I have to give them credit for serving cold water with lemon as well lChinese tea. We actually planned on going to Gallo Blanco but it was almost a 2 hour wait to accommodate our party. So off to China Chili we went and there was no wait to boot! We ordered the peking duck, mongolian beef, house chow mein, fried rice, walnut shrimp, peking pork chops, crispy noodles, ma po tofu...and really, that's all I can remember. Some of the guys also had beers and sake. I can't think of one dish that I did not like. This place does NOT disappoint. They are super friendly and prices are reasonable for the amount of food. Our go-to order includes Mongolian chicken, which is filled with yummy veggies, as well as chicken, and has a great sauce. Spicy Sichuan Prawns are delicious. All of their fried rice options are great and HUGE portions, but we love the amount of veggies in the vegetable fried rice. We love the food at China Chili, but this past Saturday we went for my husband's 81st birthday. His choice of restaurant and we all agreed!! There were five of us - one daughter and two teen grandchildren. It took 25 minutes from the time our grand daughter's dinner arrived to the time out daughters dinner arrived. At this point everything was cold and the rice still did not come out. We asked many times for the food to come out at for all to enjoy and to please bring the rice. Nothing was done. We asked four times to speak to a manager and non showed up. It was a very disapointing meal as most were finished before the others even received their meal. It will be a long time before we go back, if ever. I think what was so upsetting was that we asked so many time for the manager and kept getting a Yes, Yes and the manager didn't care enough to come to our table to see what the problem was. read more

I came here for lunch with my co-workers during the lunch rush and we all got our food within ten minutes of ordering. I also came and ordered to-go after work one day and my food was also ready within ten minutes. On top of being fast, the quality is there too. I ordered the seafood blossom soup and it had nice chunks of shrimp and scallop in it and wasn't just all broth. I also ordered the mapo tofu, which I really liked. I heard great things about this place from my boyfriend so I had to try it. I perused their menu and figured I'd try their famous House Special Chicken Lunch Special (included Sweet and Sour soup). Since I also went there for dinner (serves food family style), I also tried their Orange Chicken, Sizzling Rice Soup (enough for 4 bowls), and a Shrimp dish (the name escapes me now) -- they were all *very* good. While the House Special Chicken wasn't extremely spicy (for my taste), it was still delicous to me. :9 I wouldn't say their food isn't authentic Chinese, but it was definitely adjusted to make this place unique from all other chinese restaurants I've been to--which gives it a plus in my opinion. I really liked how their chicken or shrimp dishes were tender and not dry. Most places cook the chicken until it's overcooked. They did a great job here. By far the closest I can get to China Town here in AZ!!! I have eaten in numerous Chinese restaurants including buffets here in AZ and by far this is the best one I have tried. The BBQ pork with veggies, house chow ming, Thai noodles, snow pea beef, Peking duck etc.. All are great. They have always since day one of me and my family eating here, have given us excellent customer service and served us with a smile. Lunch includes soup a spring roll and white rice. lunches range from 6.95-8.95 plus drink. $1 more for fried rice or brown which seems a bit steep to me. I had the ma po to fu. To fu in a "spicy" sauce with a few veggies. They oped to use a soft tofu making this into almost a soup like dish, firmer is almost allays better with tofu. I asked for mine very spicy and I still had to add allot of chili paste. What I don't get is the interior decorations. It seems to be a mix of pseudo 80's night club meets china. China Chili is great! The spicy garlic eggplant is so freaking good. The soup wasn't anything special, but is you order chicken they almost give you the whole chicken! It was more like a whole breast cut up into pieces as opposed to individual pieces breaded and fried and whatnot, so it is obviously more healthy... They give you a TON of food and the price is good.
