Been here a S-LOAD of times and never fully reviewed the place. I find this one of the closer places to East Coast high end Chinese. They don't follow rules to make you happy. They are definitely cooking according to regional Chinese, but that's the point. They don't throw the same brown sauce on every dish and call it Chinese. Everything is unique and different and you have to try some things to find your pic. The lunch specials involve LARGE amounts of food for very little money. You will not finish it. Trust me. Went here as a surprise for my wife as I had tickets to Shen Yun at the Orpheum. Non descript inside but it was about 1/2 full. Ordered salt and pepper chicken and it was exceptionally good. The service was fast, friendly and the food was so fast I had low expectations but it was truly great. Highly recommend. read more

Very busy during lunch with downtown customers where they will seat you in a table to share with others. Service is always good and prompt with good prices. Eat orange chicken! Wish it came with veggies tho. I go here for lunch when I am starving because it I unbelievable how fast they are! It seems like the food is coming to the table before u even order! I have tried about five of their lunch specials and wouldn't recommend anything that wasn't made with white meat chicken breast. Their dark meat dishes like The teriyaki ckn is bleh. China Chili is amazing. We have always been pleased with the food and the service. We often get the Phoenix special which is great value - lots of food and delicious!! Their chicken salad is the best ever, comes with crab puffs. The hot and sour soup is fantastic and the fried rice, sweet and sour pork and Kung Pao chicken are wonderful. A good restaurant for a nice family dinner. My friend had the seafood duck dish and I had the spicy pepper chicken with garlic sauce and brown rice. We shared hot and sour soup. My friend liked The duck seafood dish. I also liked my chicken pepper dish but for me it was too greasy and too much sauce. The soup was good and we both liked it. This was my 1st time at this great Chinese place. My friends have been raving about it for years and I just never got around to coming here to find out what's really happening. There were a group of us and we all shared large portions of fried rice pot stickers, Chow Mein, hot and sour soup and actually there was just so much I can't even remember. I do remember that the Mongolian beef was the best I ever had. The service was pretty darn good but the food was the best Chinese I've had in Phoenix hands down. Being kind of picky about Chinese food, you will never get me to a Chinese restaurant where there isn't a single Chinese patron. That being said, the food here really is as good as everyone says. The ginger scallion lobster had a fantastic flavorful sauce. The salt and pepper chicken wings were fried to a nice light crisp with jalapeño and garlic flavor. The green beans were saucy and with kick of spice. Those were my least favorite since they didn't taste like Szechuan dry fried beans at all-- they were sweet and sour and very saucy, but I still enjoyed them. We ordered ribs that were to die for, vegetable egg rolls which were delicious and not greasy, and wonton soup which was very good. Our main courses were Kung Pao beef, honey walnut shrimp, and Mongolian chicken. All were extremely good. However, the Mongolian chicken was mostly onions. We highly recommend this restaurant! Our new favorite Chinese restaurant in Phoenix. We have tried the Mu Shu Pork, Peking Duck, Singapore needles (curry) with shrimp, hot and sour soup, wontons in a Sichuan broth, and their beef chow mein. Everything has been great. The freshness of their food is unique. I'd almost prefer a little more spice, but for you sensitive types, even the dishes marked spicy are well within your palette. Finding a traditional Chinese restaurant that serves more than just fried rice, orange chicken, mongolian beef and the usual staples is always a satisfying experience, especially when EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS FANTASTIC! I've found my go to Chinese place when I'm in Phoenix and that is China Chili. Walking through the 100+ degree weather to get some Chinese food didn't deter me, although I was drenched by the time I got there. Inside it looks like your usual Chinese dine-in place with the low lighting, cheap leather seats and rather large round tables. I was promptly greeted and my order taken, I got fried rice, prawns, soup, orange chicken, etc. All of which was surprisingly cheap and after a 15 minute wait decent sized portions. When I got home even though the food has gotten cold it was still great! I can only imagine what it would be like fresh. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. My family thoroughly enjoyed things over the next couple of days. Overall, great food, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Next time I'm in Phoenix I'll make sure to stop by here. read more

First time here, honestly food came fast which surprised me. But the orange chicken here, is so good! I mean it's not your Panda Express orange chicken. They actually have chicken sliced with a crunch the edge with a nice sweet and spicy sauce all over it. The sauce is little more on the spicy side. Chow mien is great too, ordered with beef, chicken and shrimp. Both these plates were pretty big, you can share with you and one other person with the big amounts you get here. White rice was not a big amount, it was in a small bowl like a side basically. Little bumped about it but I still enjoyed. I see coming back here for some orange chicken! read more

Last night we had dinner at China Chili for a friends birthday. We were in the side room as there was over 20 of us. Let me just say, from the minute we walked in to the minute we left we were treated like family. The service is truly the best in town. Our server immediately brought out our drinks and offered some suggestions of beer to go with our myriad meals. The service was so fast we all had our meals within five to ten minutes on the high end. The server came back multiple times to see if we needed drinks, refills or anything! My husband and I started with egg rolls and pot stickers. The egg rolls were perfectly crisp with amazing flavor. The pot stickers were the best my husband and I have ever had. My husband is still talking about them. They were perfectly seated without being overly crunchy like other places. In addition the filling was very meaty and the veggies remained slightly crisp. I ordered beef with sautéed veggies and my husband had shrimp fried rice. The beef in the sauté was tender and the veggies were perfect, the sauce had an amazing flavor. The fried rice had so many large shrimp that it was perfect! We both agree there is no other place to get good Chinese in town. I cannot wait to go back and try the Peking duck! read more

My friends and I met here around 5:30 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022. It was just a party of 4 individuals. We ordered our food and drinks right away. My partner and I got 2 different appetizers and 3 different entrees to try. My friends ordered the dinner for 2 which included soup, salad, and a few other dishes. We waited over and over for our food. It was pretty busy but not busy enough the staff could not manage. Normally we order take out and it does not matter the amount of food you order they always have it ready for you in 10 minutes. We kept asking our server where our food was and he did not have an answer for us. He went and checked for our order several times until he realized it was his mistake and he forgot to place the order. We kept watching individuals around us arrive after us and get their food right away. In the span of an hour and a half, all we had gotten was one appetizer and the soup. Finally, we told the gentlemen helping us out that we were ready to leave. All we wanted to do is pay for what we had consumed so far and just leave. We were beyond frustrated and there was no manager on duty to assist with the situation. When I asked for the manager the gentleman said he was on vacation. After relaying our frustrations to him the order magically appeared 5 minutes later. Keep in mind it is already 7 pm. We waited a whole hour and a half for some Chinese food. I know this place has it in them to do better. Until further notice, we will not be back for a while until these issues get resolved. We ended up getting 10% off of our bill which I did not think justified the frustration and the waiting. There was no effort to improve the satisfaction aside from a discount that really make up for the wait. read more
