I called the restaurant and asked for a credit, the gentleman answered to add on next order no credit. The food was just okay did not taste fresh but more disappointed was the response of not crediting what I paid in full. He told me to call Uber and they will credit.. I had ordered take out from here a few times. It wasn't bad. And then, yesterday, I decided to try something different. I ordered the house special Mai Fun. Wow!! It's so good. And I also tried their egg drop soup, which was also very, very good. They have added on-line ordering, so you just walk in and find the bag with your name. I think I have found my new favorite! I ordered takeout from China 1 a few days ago. The food was quickly ready and was delicious upon eating it at home. When I was at the store and paying, I was told the apparent amount and given the two credit card receipts. I left a tip, signed, and gave back the merchant copy. Then, I asked for my itemized receipt! Very sneakily, I was charged more on my credit card than was the full actual amount for what I had ordered, including taxes. If this restaurant is willing to be shady and purposefully charge customers more than the true bill should be, I'm worried about what other short cuts they're taking! I will not return. read more

Great food! They give you everything you need in the bag when you pick up. They also have the various sauces available close by for you to add to your bag. I'm not sure they do dine-in. Ever since Covid they've had a table by the door for picking up the food. It's like right there as you walk in. They are no nonsense over there. They make food, you eat the food. Done. It's ALWAYS GOOD so, yes, I'll eat the food! Ambiance is simple, no frills. Nice pictures of food they prepare, and some random chairs and tables. I've ordered take out from China 1 on a few occasions as it it very close to my house and delivers pretty quickly. I have to admit, I'm conflicted. I've tried a few different entrees and wasn't impressed with any of them. This being said, they have THE BEST fried rice that I have ever had and the appetizers are pretty good as well. The fried rice is full of meat and they don't short you on the egg part of it either. Overall, I'll probably keep ordering from China 1, but I wish they would shape up some of their entrees so that I didn't order the same thing every time. read more

This place has become our sort of go-to Chinese food place. It isn't the best we have had in the area but it is close and always consistent. Now, saying it is not the best does not mean it is bad. We usually get Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, and Vegetable Lo Mein. The portions are above average in size. It is the sauces that are slightly off to what we like. Again, not bad - just different. You are quickly greeted by a person at the counter to take your order. You can get it to go or sit in the restaurant. The seating is someone dated and I think an after though to the food. If you didn't see the photos or the Chinese characters on the menu you would have a hard time knowing it was a Chinese restaurant. Driving home from a busy day and decided to get carry out on the way. They said it would be ready in 30 minutes but The food was ready when I got there 10 minutes early. Food was well packaged and hot when I got home. The egg roll, spring rolls and crab rangoon were all crisp and well filled. In fact the crag Rangoon filling was very generous. The shrimp lo me in noodles were al dente and this shrimp were cooked right. The Kung Pao chicken was made with mostly dark meat and the sauce wad rather bland. Fast and friendly but I still need to find a go too Chinese restaurant near home. read more

I've been coming here for 14 years and come back every time I'm in town even though I moved away 12 years ago. It's possible this is the best Chinese food in STL, or maybe the US (not joking). I've lived in New York, San Francisco, etc and haven't found a great low key Chinese take out replacement yet. Got some take out last night when my normal spot wasn't open. Won't be going back. Sweet and sour chicken was just a container of fried chicken pieces with a syrupy sauce on the side. Mu shu chicken was bland and the pancakes they served it with were split in the middle so they couldn't be used to wrap the food. It was, by far, the worst Chinese food we've ever had. My son ordered Chicken Fried Rice and he said that it didn't taste right. I inspected it closely and found that the chicken was so undercooked, it was still pink inside. My wife ordered Sweet and Sour Shrimp and it was also undercooked. The breading was so raw inside it was like dough. We all threw our food out. $40 wasted. We're going to stick with Thai food from Asian Corner. The food is always fresh and delicious. read more

Wish I could rate this negative stars.This is the Mongolian beef they gave me...all onion. We called and they acted like I was blind and kept trying to tell me to look under the onions as if I didn't look for the meat in my Mongolian beef order. They were yelling on the phone (which I found quite comical) and told me to bring it back tomorrow and we will give your money back. I'm just never going back again. read more

This is my favorite go to Chinese take out! I get it way more then I should, at least once or twice a month if not every week. I love how consistent their food is. In the last 5 years I have been going only once have I had a bad experience. My favorite dishes I get are... The honey chicken! It is like the sesame but the sauce isn't as thick. That being said sometimes I prefer the sesame chicken since it has broccoli in it unlike the Honey. Their Cashew Chicken is to die for! I have never had cashew chicken this good from a take out place. I also love their sweet and sour chicken which is breaded in a tempera like badder and left with the sauce on the side. I have also tried their Mongolian beef but found it way to spicy to eat. They have the best crab Rangoon hands down. You can taste the crab! It isn't just cream cheese. Ordered Fried Dumplings, Crispy Beef, and Ham Fried Rice. The dough on the dumplings was by far the thickest and gummiest I've ever had and filler was sub-par. Crispy beef was a gelatinous block by the time we got it home (maybe 5 minutes later) and the fried rice was below standard too. Took a chance on a shopping mall chinese and it was a bad call. I'll drive to South Grand from now on to get my fix. I'll agree that the portions were generous, too bad they weren't delicious. read more

I will never go back! I ordered a carry out order of orange beef , I received orange chicken. I called when they open to the next day to complain. I did not call when I got the order because they had already closed. They were closing as I was leaving. It took me 20 minutes to tell them that I was trying to get beef not chicken. She had to call somebody on the phone and talk to them about whether not they could replace my order. If you're gonna talk to about a customer talk in English not Chinese. I ordered chicken with mushrooms and got maybe 3-5 small pieces of chicken...it was literally just a container of mushrooms smothered in sauce. My husband got sweet and sour chicken and also didn't get any actual chicken. It was just 90% fried batter. We also got an order or crab rangoons and spring rolls and they both tasted like they had been fried in month old frying oil. Even the smell alone made us sick so they went straight in the trash. Crab Rangoon should come with a sauce, soy sauce a given... but when I called them to tell them that I was missing items that I ordered and that I didn't get any condiments the man on the phone told me that it was the Door Dash drivers problem. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Staff is very rude. They will often get your order wrong and blame it on you when you ask them to fix it. I have been going there for years and the customer service and food had definitely declined over time. DON'T PAY WITH CARD!
