    Pork plate
    Annie D.

This was a fun place! The food was good and it was our first time here so the server gave some recommendations. I got the pork plate, the meat was really good and I like the cheese stuffed pancake like item. The corn wasn't very flavorful so I ate it with the sauce. I really liked the cheese empanada. My friend got the coconut shrimp dish and really enjoyed it as well.

Went to Chimbarazo for an early dinner for work and it was such a good experience. It's cozy, intimate, with comforting food and lovely people. The service was superb, so kind and attentive. The food was fulfilling and flavorful. The Ecuadorian fried rice, the ceviche, and yucca were PHENOMENAL. Highly recommend Chimbarazo and can't wait to go back.

If you've never had Ecuadorian or Andean cuisine before, Chimborazo is the perfect place to start--and if you have, it's the kind of restaurant that feels like coming home. My first visit was during early-fall patio season, but even as the weather cools and the patio takes a well-earned rest, the same warmth and flavor can be found inside. Their interior is spacious, cozy, and welcoming--like being invited into someone's (very stylish) family kitchen. That feeling isn't an accident. Chimborazo is family-owned, and you can taste that care in every bite. Every dish feels personal--like it was cooked by someone who wants you to leave happy and full. It's not often you find a restaurant that nails both authenticity and atmosphere, but Chimborazo does it effortlessly. During this visit, I sampled: - "Guanabana" juice: I'm usually a big fan of guanabana, but this version didn't quite hit the sweet spot for me--it leaned a bit on the bitter side. Still, it's an adventurous choice, and if you're feeling curious (or brave), it might just surprise you. - "Muchín de Yuca": Deep-fried cassava croquettes filled with queso fresco. These little bites were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Served with an aji criollo dipping sauce, a form of (not spicy) chili pepper, they were good, but not as great as the empanadas. - "Empanada de Carne": As a self-proclaimed empanada connoisseur, I can confidently say this one hit the mark. The flour empanada was fried to a perfect golden crisp and stuffed with tender, well-seasoned beef and a mix of vegetables. You could practically taste the care that went into marinating and seasoning the filling--it was savory, satisfying, and honestly, a little addictive. -"Churrasco": This plate was a flavor-packed powerhouse. Grilled flank steak arrived juicy and tender, accompanied by rice, a fried egg, beans, sweet plantains, and freshly cut French fries. The beans stole the show for me--slow-cooked to perfection, rich, and full of flavor. The combination of the soft white rice and sweet plantains made every bite comforting and balanced. Generous, hearty, and undeniably satisfying, this dish is the kind of meal that makes you appreciate the art of Andean comfort food. -"Tres Leches": The perfect ending to an already incredible meal--and easily my favorite bite of the day. I've tried my fair share of Tres Leches around the Twin Cities, but Chimborazo's version has officially claimed a spot in my top three. It's creamy, perfectly sweet, and soaked in a dreamy milk mixture that's rich without feeling heavy. I'll admit, I stretched it out over a couple of days to make it last--eating it in careful quarters like it was culinary gold. Some desserts are worth savoring slowly, and this one is absolutely one of them. The service at Chimborazo deserves its own round of applause. Even during the busy lunch rush, everything ran smoothly without feeling rushed. My waitress was friendly and attentive, taking the time to answer my (many) questions about the menu with genuine enthusiasm. She even offered a free sample of their homemade Limonada. Like the food, the service struck that rare balance of warmth and professionalism--proof that great hospitality is just as much a part of the experience as what's on the plate. Looking forward to my next visit, and in the meantime, I hope you'll give them a try! Pro tip: come hungry, and don't skip the "Tres Leches".

Really authentic, unique flavorful food. We tried this place after seeing a movie at the lovely heights theater. Delicious coconut shrimp platter and the empanada I had was super good. Delicious potato fries and sweet plantains. Full of people! Very popular place. Very fun to try something different. Only cons: expensive (30 a person) and parking lot is TINY

Finally went here and we were so glad we did. I went with my vegetarian family members and they loved it. I also thought there empanadas were yummy. Definitely try their soups as well. Great little parking lot. Service was amazing. Cute place!!

This is a wonderful spot! The ambiance is casual, bright and colorful. The service was good. We ordered the shrimp encocado which was creamy and savory. We also ordered the chicken Lomo saltado which was a great combo of veggies, meat and sauce with a hint of spice. Overall the food was tasty! They offer date night specials on Wednesday's which comes with a bottle of wine and 2 entrees (options vary weekly) for $55.

Chimborazo is an amazing place you must stop in and try! Have been here multiple times because the food keeps driving me back!! Every time I have come, I walk in and there's always been a table available without waiting. The hostess and waiters are amazing at their jobs -- fast, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and recommendations. The outdoor seating is fun to people watch and enjoy the greenery around the edges of the space. Love everything I've eaten here, and at top of my list I would highly recommend the empanadas, seco de carne (beef stew), and saltado. The patacones are impeccable and addicting! There's also a Date Night special that is hard to beat -- 2 entrees and a bottle of wine! Menu items also offer vegetarian options which is a great option to accommodate differing preferences. Love this place and look forward to coming again soon!!

I have been to Ecuador. As a foodie. And I will say up front: This is authentic. So absolutely five stars for Chimborazo and a go-to place for you to enjoy in Minneapolis-St. Paul. My friend came over to meet me on my journey south, and I'm so glad he's adventurous enough to eat at a place like this. We spent awhile poring over the menu and I ended up with caldo de bolas de verde (plaintain dumpling soup) and hornado con papas (pork with pancakes and corn). The food arrived quickly, as did our drinks (homemade raspberry and clementine - the clementine was outstanding on my end), and I offer the following: * Soup is authentic. Every spoonful evoked memories of Quito for me. * Pork is AMAZING. The. Most. Flavorful. I've ever had. And so moist. I don't know how they managed to make pork that puts BBQ to shame, but Chimborazo are magicians with meat. * Little llapingachos (cheese potato pancakes) that my friend and I could not stop eating. Little noms of joy. * The big-kerneled corn mote that is a South American specialty. Not quite as big as down there, but ya know what? Bigger than American corn. They sourced it from somewhere. * A delicious side of curtido to complement it all. Five stars for service. Six stars for food. Ambiance, maybe a little less. By the end of the night it was getting crowded and loud in there. Bench seats, a little on the low-scale side of things. But you know what? To locate on the corner and keep prices down like this, I would much rather you make the insides plain and invest all your money and heart and soul in the food. A+. If you've ever been to Ecuador, you will love it here. If not, once you eat here, you will want to go to Ecuador. Or just keep coming back here. :)

Their Pollo Saltado (or the classic Lomo Saltado) is probably my favorite dish from any restaurant, ever. So unique, tangy, a little spicy - I dream about it. The yucca fries are a must. They also have rotating flavors of frozen sangria which always hit. Chimborazo has my heart forever.

Excellent place to try Ecuadorian cuisine. We got there and the ambient was really nice, they welcome you with a really big smile. We got to our table and it was a totally different experience from other Latin places we had been, clean and calm. We sat down outside, they have a nice "tent" the music was just perfect volume/type. We ordered Caldo de bolas and Hornado con papas, it was DELICIOUS I was born in Ecuador and as soon as a tasted the food brought me back so many memories, the quality and quantity was perfect, you pay for what you get. 100% recommend you must go there.

Great space, plenty of residential parking, and fantastic staff. My friends and I got there 5 minutes before the breakfast menu closed and the server was so wonderful and took our orders really quick. I got there llapingachos breakfast and it was DELICIOUS! The potato pancakes were so soft and so flavorful; all the spices combined together so well! And of course the pulled pork was super juicy and yummy. My partner got the Chimborazo breakfast hash with the ribs and it was equally delicious. The has had a good amount of veggies that was super juicy and the rest in the ribs melted off the bones. The pancake, all delicious. Overall, I would definitely comeback!

There is nothing ghetto, dark or 'low-brow' about this place at all, and if you enjoy bright flavors and reasonable prices, I recommend giving it a shot. The food had a ton of flavor and the presentations were really lovely. My boyfriend bought a groupon for Mango that included an appetizer, two drinks, and two entrees. I got a Peruvian cocktail made with lots of Brandy that was awesome, and he got a Brazilian drink that was basically a vodka mojito, that he really liked. I don't remember what they were called unfortunately, but they were both refreshing. They had a lot of interesting Latin drinks I'd like to try, all for 7 bucks which I thought was a great deal. For an appetizer we shared the grilled shrimp and avocado plantain tapas. These were phenomenal! Sometimes when I go to a restaurant and try something new, I end up craving it for weeks after. That's how I felt about this dish. The shrimp and avocados were fresh, the salsa had a nice spice, and the fried plantains were a great complement. There was no easy way to eat them, but they were good enough that I didn't care if I looked ridiculous eating them with my hands! My boyfriend and I both ordered seafood. He had the Seafood Stew, which included shrimp, mussels, crab, halibut, calamari etc. I'm always leery about seafood stew because I think it can often times be too fishy. His was wonderful however; the broth was mild but flavorful and the seafood was well prepared and super tasty. I had the halibut de la mar, which came with crab, shrimp and peppers and onions. I though the flavor was great, although I would have preferred it a bit spicier. We both got a side of rice and beans, and this was my boyfriends favorite thing. He's a rice snob (lol) and though I may tease him, I definitely agreed that this was the best restaurant rice we've ever had. It was actually...seasoned!! It tasted good plain! The beans were a great addition, but the rice didn't really even need them. The service was super slow, but the servers were otherwise friendly and helpful. The place was pretty empty on a Thursday night, and I hope they do more business. I'd really like to go back for some drinks and apps one night.
