Stopped in for brunch with my "Honey" and found it to be warm and inviting especially with the big fire oven in the back and the friendly greeting by staff. Food was creative with some different flavors incorporated. Not overly seasoned including its salt content. Presentation was nice, decor contemporary, noise level tolerable. Ventured into town from the mountain area. Had reservations at Seasons but when we walked by Chimayo we decided to give it a try instead. We were not disappointed! Food: Brussels sprout appetizer - small but yummy! It did take forever to come out but the waiter said it was bc a large party just turned in their order before us. He did apologize for how long it took. We ordered some bread bc we were starving and it was $4 and I just think as a courtesy to how long our Brussels sprouts were taking it might have been nice to not charge us for that so thats one reason it's a 4 star rating. Salads: vegetable salad and Chimayo house salad both delicious!! Mac and cheese not a fave- it's just different!! Margherita Pizza add bacon very good and enough to take home! New Mexico Chili - I asked for just a cup bc I had the salad too but they brought out a bowl and charged me for it so there's the other reason not 5 stars! I also didn't mention the mistake either. This place looks super generic from the outside (and the decor inside is very inoffensively modern), but the dishes we tried on our first visit were great. I enjoyed their chile relleno -- the nuts and seeds on the outside were great, and I was sorely disappointed when I ran out of savory sauce on my plate. Finger-licking good, but this isn't that kind of restaurant. It exceeded my expectations. We'll try this place again sometime. read more

Owner doesn't like service animals. From the moment we walked in the owner asked questions about the dog so i answered them truthfully. She had a chip on her shoulder about it and it finally came out. We were nearly finished with dinner and the dog gave a little bark and I tried to give him some rice to distract him because he has never barked before. Ever!!! Then he gave another little bark. I had a few glasses of wine so that's my bad that I didn't realize why he was disgruntled. The rice didn't work. He just snubbed it. She ran to our table and scolded me in front of the entire restaurant that i cannot feed him in his buggy and he cannot bark. It was two short barks to nudge me. She accused me of disrespecting her restaurant and was quite loud about it. I was so embarrassed that i actually apologized to her and took the blame for the dog mis behaving. I left early and when i went to the car the dog started searching through his blankets. My medicine had fallen out of the buggy and he was trying to find it for me. So it turns out he was doing his job quite well. I checked my blood pressure and it was very high most likely from the high salt content in the food. so i took the medicine and all was ok in an hour or so. I think she is a bully and she said so many people abuse the service dog rules. Implying that I'm one. She could have been human with her response and came to the table and asked if we were ok instead of bullying me and making a scene. I have to wonder if she would do the same to a crying baby's parents. Would she scream at them At the first sound the baby makes.shes really horrible and tried to make me feel uncomfortable for having a service dog. It's not as glamorous as she thinks. A person has to give up a lot to have a service animal. He has to be with me 24 /7. It keeps me from doing a lot of activities that I'd like to do. He is 17 and was ordered by my cardiologist. It was not an easy thing to take on but when you have a severe health problem you have to listen to your doctor. The rest of the staff was friendly and the waiter was great. The service was fast and good but we would have enjoyed less cheese and crispier crust on the Marg Pizza. The warm vegetable salad was tasty! Creative. And we enjoyed the 3oz. red wines we sipped while waiting for our food to take with us. The restaurant itself seemed pretty cool, the entryway fires were perfect for a cooler evening. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Durango. I have the brunch skillet at the waiter's recommendation and it was awesome! The atmosphere is pleasant and not too loud. Waitstaff was attentive and made sure my water glass was always full. They offer sidewalk seating if people watching is your thing. read more

I'm torn between a 3* and 4* so my companions on this dinner adventure are boosting this to a 4. We were quickly seated in a large booth, perfect for me. The decor was very nice and Southwestern style. Pros: good food, large portions, friendly waitstaff Cons: waitress couldn't get order straight, had to repeat three times, before finally just writing it down. When DH, who can't eat spicy food, asked for a sub for the potato side, they charged him $7 for mushrooms, uncool in my book. Finally, prices were a bit high and the menu was a bit .... Odd in choices. I like it, but I wouldn't necessary come back - we also went elsewhere for dessert. read more

Hubby and I wanted an early dinner upon our arrival in Durango, and this was one of a few restaurants that was open that didn't seem too touristy. The service was excellent, but there were very few patrons in the restaurant at the time. Sean, our server, was prompt and friendly, and very helpful in providing hubby suggestions for beers. Hubby ordered the beef tacos and he said they were definitely good. I ordered the poblano cheddar burger, which was very juicy and tasty. We come to Durango from Arizona often. Smelled the food walking past during covid. No reservations meant I could only smell it. Last time we got in and boy am I glad! We had a lovely dinner here last night. Started with drinks. I had the blood orange margarita and my husband had the regular. Mine had a touch too much orange, but both were strong, well mixed, and smooth. We started with the queso fundido which was fantastic with loads of poblano peppers and served with chips and got bread. Yum. Missing a little bite (maybe goat cheese? Or seasoning?) but overall delish. We shared a pizza with sausage and salami (no pepperoni, which was odd, but the salami subbed in nicely). Well cooked, not enormous, but more than enough with drinks and the dip. Our waiter was courteous and seemed to know when to be there and when to disappear. The ambience was lovely and overall made for an excellent experience. No complaints at all. Knocking off one star because $80 is a bit pricey for dinner, especially if you're splitting an entree. Surprisingly disappointing. Left feeling short-changed. Paid $90 for two entrees and two appetisers - both underwhelming and served lukewarm. I've seldom felt this cheated at a restaurant. The bill would've been better fit if priced at $50, gratuity included. The service was entertainingly horrible, to the point where I'd considered spending more time in the toilet (which was comfortable and inviting) than at my table. I am consistently averse to writing reviews - especially poor ones - but this experience was so brilliantly frustrating that I felt responsible to share this with future patrons. The burger I ordered came out after 45 mins with a TOOTHPICK in the middle of it. I bit into a freaking toothpick. A TOOTHPICK. The response? That sucks--so sorry. An apology from our server. This would have been an excellent review given the tasty food and good wait staff. It is way over-priced ($15 for French onion soup?). Then as my friends and I were preparing to leave (check paid and coats on) the hostess approached us and asked us to leave because they had more reservations. I looked around and saw empty tables. I said, "I've never had that happen before and I'm not happy". She said. "Well we have to make a living". My response...you don't have to be rude. Ok first of all the service was excellent. We sat outside on the Main Street which was special. I had the prime rib dip shaved meat with horseradish and cheese on a great bun. The a jus could be more rich flavored for my taste. But delicious. Feeling. My husband had the meat style pizza very good. Crust is great. Personal preference no provolone cheese. This was my first time here and I got the cheese pizza,but the pizza had just to much cheese for my likings but,I absolutely LOVED the crust. I also loved the nachos and corn bread,it was absolutely delightful and it definitely brought out the delicious in yummy,and the honey butter was so very delicious that I cannot explain,but again,I'm so sad that I told our waitress to go easy on the cheese but I'm just disappointed that I told her and then I got too much cheese. read more

Would have really enjoyed making this at least four stars! Had the seasonal Palisade Peach Salad. It was OK. Should have been mixed up and not separated by ingredient. I was expecting the peaches to have more personality. Oh they were tasty but how about using the wood stove to put a little roast on them. And, did they really need to be chopped up so randomly into small pieces. Little to no effort appeared to be invested in this special. I was hesitant to order a main course so opted for a burger. Very clearly requested "medium rare." Nope came out well. But here's my real pet peeve...from the moment I ordered there wasn't a single check in from the server working the bar. Oh she asked about a desert menu. I wasn't laying down another cent. Not to mention little to no time was in between the moment my fork was laid down from the salad until the burger came. Nice space but wow the staff could use a personality refresh. Oh and that includes the hostess who could have cared less I chose Chimayo over any other spot... Time to stop taking patrons for granted. It's my money you should be working for! Food gets a 3. Service shouldn't even have a number but 1 will do. There you have it. We shared a blueberry & prickly pear margarita, along with a carrot bisque that hit the spot after freezing in the rain. This was one of our favorite places in town. But not today. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Then our waiter returned and we asked about our drinks and appetizers. He took our lunch order. No drinks yet. My husbands meal came out then the appetizers still no drinks. And no food for me. I canceled my drink and then my meal came out totally gross and swimming in grease.
