Jardin is Tex Mex/Mex to the Max! Their Pechuga Gratinada a la Parrilla Platter with grilled chicken breast topped with melted Monterey Jack cheese, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers was served moist with a tad bit of heat. My Chile-Relleno Poblano pepper stuffed with chicken arrived with a healthy amount of cheese and ranchero sauce, and served with guacamole, pico de gallo, rice, and refried beans. One nit, their tortillas are store-bought, according to Plus 1. They do have a full bar, and we both found that their Margaritas were a tad too sweet for us. Big kudos for offering me a gratis Father's Day tequila shot for my dessert! No, I was not driving.... Regardless of the nit, Jardin Del Rey goes right into our dining rotation.

This isn't typical for Texas Roadhouse, so it may have been an off day for the kitchen. I ended up taking most of it home and finishing it on my grill just to make it edible. Great service and solid meals for the rest of the family, but the steak quality issue needs attention. I'll give them another shot--this one just didn't meet expectations.

My companion order a grilled chicken sandwich (not on the menu) and sweet potato waffle fries. I tried a dinner, chicken-fried chicken with slaw and mashed potatoes. The food was good though not amazingly so, though to be fair we didn't try things on the wild side. The mashed potatoes looked a little grey, but that's because the skins are mashed in and they were actually really good. The other highlight was the sweet potato waffle fries, perfect crisp, not overly seasoned. I had a beer instead of the premixed frozen beverages. My chief complaint is the noise amplification from high, hard ceilings and concrete floors and other hard, flat surfaces. The clamor of kids even four tables away made conversation a little tough. Plus, they pipe in music, which frankly they should keep only in the bar area if possible.

We had a nice conversation. She is a wonderful young lady! Something that I didn't know about Willie's & and that's absolutely incredible ...is that they support their servers going to college. We didn't get into all the details, but it sounded like an excellent program and she is taking advantage of it. (Whomever put this in the employee benefits, deserves a huge pat on the back because many companies don't offer those kinds of perks anymore!!!) she is so committed to getting her degree-it is so nice to talk to a young person that has such strong determination and is willing to work and go to school. She's learning a lot of different roles at the new restaurant and I suspect she's good at all of them. Willies, please don't ever take catfish off your menu, I also love all the seafood boils. They were out of the first beer I ordered (martinhouse columbiana) so I decided to try them bourbon menu instead. I was excited to try cypb for $25 and they were out of that too. What is the deal with their menus never being up to date?! Beer selection was fairly limited too, about half of what the other locations used to have on draft and really no craft bottles or cans. Well, we decided to get some food since it was pouring outside so we couldn't leave easily. The bartender said the Brussels sprouts were the most ordered shareable so we ordered them. They had bacon but they were so overcooked that every bite tasted like really burned bacon. I was going to try to send them back but our waitress never asked if they came out OK so I just let it be. Overall, very disappointing visit.
