We were told 30-45 minute wait which wasn't long after all. Host was every nice. When going to table saw other tables empty with dishes all over them. Waiter got our drinks & food order came back with drinks pretty quick but didn't see him again until our food came 40 minutes later. Everybody's food was cold. Asked for refills when food came which didn't show up for 10 minutes. This was our first time there so we didn't know how to use the monitor to pay. Hubby and I ordered take out tonight. I ordered 6oz sirloin with corn on the cob on the side. The steak was cooked to order, but the corn looked like it was either bad or scorched. One cob was mushy. Also, (not that it matters given the state of the corn) there was no pepper on the corn. How do you mess up corn, guys? Hubby ordered baked potato soup and a chicken bacon ranch quesadilla. The soup was good, but the quesadilla hadn't even been cooked long enough to melt the cheese. Finally, the $8 dessert we ordered (paradise pie) was dry and we received approximately 2 tsp of ice cream to go with it. This food costs far too much to be such poor quality. On the plus side, the server who packed our order gave plenty of cutlery (important for hotel dining) and straws. Man, the Hickory Chili's is a true cautionary tale and fall from grace story, which is probably more the fault of corporate. Back in my day (bear with me, kids) this location was fantastic. They had a happy hour special with $5 chicken sandwiches, absolutely fantastic Big Mouth Bites, very friendly service, fast table turnover and were easily the best chain option in Hickory. These days....get a drink. The bar is great. The drinks are poured stiff and are still on special ($5 long islands is a siren song I can't resist). The food is awful, the last few times I've been. The Big Mouth Bites are completely unseasoned, burnt black, no longer come with what they used to, and are really a disappointment. The happy hour menu items are no longer there, and the food is certainly not worth the full menu charge, especially the way it's been prepared the last few times I've been. I go for the bar and skip the menu, and would probably advise you do the same. What a shame it used to be so good. read more

It's been a while since we've been there so we thought we would give it a try on Sunday. When you walked in the door there was a smell it smells like old rotten carpet takes your appetite right away. Our waitress was awesome she was right there got our drinks got me fresh coffee which was really hot love that. She kept our drinks coming which was fantastic and this is not her fault but when the food came out my coffee was the only thing hot,I had I asked for the regular chicken fetters there was hardly any batter on them and they were hard as if they had been fried to be the crispy ones made me wonder if they saved them from the night before French fries were cold. We ate here Sunday evening. When we arrived, there was quite a line and we were told that there would be a 30 minute wait. We figured that was pretty standard for a Sunday. Once we were called to be seated however, I was surprised to see that several tables were open, but had not been cleaned off. Tables were piled with dirty dishes as if they had been taken from other tables and just left there until someone could clear them. As far as the food and service, they were great. Our server was nice, helpful, and attentive. The food was delicious, as usual. On our way out, though, I noticed more tables full of dishes and people still waiting to be seated. I don't know if they need more servers or staff to bus the tables, but leaving dirty dishes sitting around gives the place an unclean feeling. read more

We visited the Chili's in Hickory, NC, last evening for supper. The wait was not long, but man did we wait on service. We sat most of the time with empty tea classes. I had free chips and salsa reward, but the chips were cold. I asked for warm ones. We received them as we were leaving. This was the most disappointing trip ever to a Chili's. The chicken and mushroom fajitas were great and my husband got the Triple Dipper (appetizer variety) and he loved it. Our waitress was just absent, and the place was not full. read more

We would give zero stars if that were a possibility. We went for a meal on a Friday afternoon at about 1pm. We had already had several bad experiences with service here previously but decided to give them another chance. There were several empty tables but we still had to wait for about 15-20 minutes. Strike 1. We decided to wait and finally got called to be seated. We sat at the table for about 10 minutes and were never acknowledged. We saw a few servers but nobody came to take our drink order or check on us. Strike 2. They glanced at our table several times and then we over heard the conversation that made us decide to just leave. A waiter looked at the waitress that was supposed to be taking care of us and asked if she was going to take our order or if she wanted him to do it. She glanced at the table and said "I guess I'll do it but I have to take care of something first so I'll get there when I get there." Strike 3. That was the point when we decided to get up and leave to go to East Coast Wings instead where the service and food were phenomenal! Just like many of the other reviews, I continue to have horrible experiences here every time I go. Today (first visit in 2 years) I ordered fajitas and my table ordered a couple other things. Initial drinks and appetizer were fantastic. After that, service became horrible. Tables that came in 20 minutes after us received their food and were paying before we our food came out. Fajitas were nowhere close to "sizzlin'" and most of the food (while warm) was nowhere near fresh. This location continues to disappoint. Maybe worth another try in a couple years. read more

In Hickory on business, figured they'd have Sunday Night Football on the TVs at the bar. Asked for it to be turned on when I sat at the bar. Took the bartender 20 minutes (!) To take my drink order and 40 minutes to turn the football game on after the fourth time I asked politely lol. Missed almost the entire first quarter. I've worked at restaurants for half a decade so I get it when people get busy... but it was not crowded and I was the only person in the bar room. Food is cheap which was to be expected. Almost no meat in my chicken pasta. Go to Olive Garden or something if you want an inexpensive chain place. read more

Went here sunday evening for my hubby's birthday. Service was okay, considering corona. He was very nice! Food was okay, I got the steak and shrimp fajitas and the steak was almost burnt, my partner got chicken tacos, which he said tasted like they came out of a can. We went here for our lunch break and I had ordered online before hand. It states our order would be ready at 11:55. We arrived at 12:13 and sent the here text and waited for 10 mins for a a lady named Leann to come help us. She asked me what the order name was and I told her I believe Brooke Hedrick because I sometimes put everything under the name I go by but unfortunately this time I had put Meredith and accidently put the wrong name. I leaned out the window because she looked confused as she walked away and said it may be under Meredith. She didn't even acknowledge me and walked inside on her phone. We waited another 15 Minutes in the parking lot and finally I called because I was worried we would be late for work. As soon as I called leann answers and I said we are in the parking lot and have to get back to work and was wondering how much longer it will be. Leann cut me off and stated is it under Meredith in a rude voice and I said yes and she said it's been ready if you would have told me the correct name I could have given it to you already. Leann hung up the phone and barged out side with our food and no drinks and threw the order on the seat. Then proceeded to tell me how rude I was being to her during this time. Told her I was not being rude she was being rude to me. Then told her that she had forgotten our drinks. I asked her name and she told me Leann and asked if I wanted her to write it on the receipt. I said no I know her name. She then went on to say that they were struggling during all this and she doesn't see how I could be so rude which I was so confused because I had only said a handful of words to this woman and then she walked away to help another customer. While she was helping him she kept starring at us and with a mean scowl. When she walked away from them and went to get our drinks the lady in the car farthest got my attention and said honey you didn't even do anything what is her problem? I was like I have no idea. We are a family of three. My son and I ordered the half pound burgers. They were not disappointing. They were so juicy and yummy. My husband ordered the (I forgot the name) trio appetizer. Onion petals, boneless chicken and big bites. He said it was great and worth ordering. We had a birthday dessert coupon and ordered the molten cake. It was so great and what a wonderful way to end our perfect dinner. We did have to wait 45 minutes but it was New Years Eve (to be expected). The hostess and waiter were very friendly. I use to eat Chilis alot! Until there were lots of issues with service and long waits. So a couple weeks ago a friend and I decided to give it a try and meet for lunch. I ordered a Chicken Alfredo . This dish used to be a generous portion. Always came with two pieces of garlic toast. However, when my dish got to the table I couldn't believe it! I was wondering if maybe I had gotten a childs portion. I could see the bottom of the place with one piece of garlic bread. I was never one with a hearty appetite, but usually I needed a box and on this visit this plate didn't even satisfy my appetite. My friend had ordered one of the bowls that have become quite popular. It looked good. It was the size of a cereal bowl. It stated it was really good. I dont mind paying good money for a good portion. This visit wasn't the case. Our bill was around $60.00 and I feel as it I had really overpaid due to portions. Not sure when and if I will return. If I do maybe I'll try something different. read more

Our last visit went well for some in our party it was their first time going. We had a large group and the waitress did everything she was able to to make sure we were taken care of. Completely disappointed. I got the chicken Cajun pasta for dinner and some of the chicken was still raw. I cut it out and ate what was left, then dessert came out. Strawberry cheesecake. Well the enchiladas were awful, except for the chicken one it was okay. Rice was non existent, what he did get was dry. Grandma's chili was so salty she could hardly eat but she did. Now my tacos were suppose to have chiming upright sauce on them and there was none. But there was do much other "stuff" you could not pick them up and eat them. They just feel apart. I decided to save the meat for my dogs, after all it is primerib..lol I ate about a half a taco and only got 8 small pieces of meat out of the 2 and 1/2 tacos. And the rice was very dry dry dry. If your gonna serve something different make sure it's good. You should replace with regular Spanish rice. The only reason they get a 2 is because waiter was awsome.
