We have used Childrens Dental Specialists in Carrollton numerous times and one time in Richardson for over three years for our adopted daughter. CDS has very successfully presented a child friendly environmental office and have commercial video games, a covered horse wagon childrens ride in the lobby, distribute stickers, and good patient token gum ball style goodies for children afterwards.
Today we were at the Richardson office at 8:30 for two new fillings that totalled under $500. My daughter immediately saw the new pretty Princess childrens toothbrushes at 10:00 upon being seated and wanted one, I promised her she would get one, just be a big girl and good patient for Dr. Train and she could get one after the procedure, unaware what was to follow. After, two new fillings and thre replacements of others that had fallen out, four times she asked for a toothbrush, four times she was denied, and the dentist took her by the hand and walked her away from the basket and placed a Dora sticker on her shirt. At this point, I was beyond shock a dentist would not give a child a toothbrush. When we reached the front desk the receptionist coldly demanded $168 be paid outside of what was anticipated as reasonable and customary charges to be paid by BCBS. I had $.34 in my checking account and less than $5 cash and change on me as I have not been paid and invoices are not due in until next week. I placed the charges on my Chase debit card with no funds in the bank, they covered it, but I will pay fees on that greed. Afterwards, I complained to Dr. Train to no availl as she offered after care instructions that had not been presented after the procedure and denying my child a toothbrush. As established patients of over 3 yeras, we were not allowed any courteousy of paying after insurance settlement and have never been behind on paying what was due CDS.
We have always expereinced cold, uncaring, business only, front desk courteousy issues, very poor response in scheduling and rescheduling appointments out of necessity, and even reaching the dentists for discussions. Richardson has far worse receptionist than Carrollton.. Upon our first visits at Carrollton when she was two years old, a very large amount of crowns were recommended at an estimate of around $4000 for her baby teeth. Afterwards, we discussed this with two other dentists (one a school of denistry instructor) and an experienced hygenist. Upon thier recommendations we insisted on child fillings to CDS's eventual displeasure. Upon deciding that we in no way wanted crowns, we started immediatly calling and could not reach Dr. Simpson nor Dr. Train being blocked by the front end receptionists in both Richardson and Carrollton. Three years later to this day, Dr. Simpson has never acknowledged nor returned the call to him, requesting he contact me. When we later complained to Dr. Train little more was said than the receptionist did not make decisions (we knew that, we left messages and asked for calls to be returned) but never addressed why we could not reach an actual dentist to discuss patient care.
We have stuck with CDS and extremely outrageous fee's, our daughters fillings coming out multiple times over and over again only to be redone at no charge but consider they are charging three times what they should anyway, called three times during snow week to reschedule an apointment with no return phone calls, and less than any acceptable level of customer oriented service. Each appointment at CDS is hours long with sedation, waiting for it to take effect for 90 minutes and starting procedures. No food, no drink for the child after midnight and she is always miserable there.
Today, at CDS she was denied taking her childrens Clariten prescribed by her doctor as clear mucus ran down her nose for almost three hours and the combination of horrible smelly breath. I felt terible for my daughter. I've had just about all I can take of CDS.
I do not and would not recommend this dental group to any average Carrollton, Richardson, or DFW family unless you are uneffected by the economy and have exceptional dental insurance and no where else to go. I have tolerated not posting a complaint long enough but when a dentist can't even give a five year old child a tooth brush who charges any rate has no excuse whatsoever in defending themselves. Shame on them! Buyers beware. Make your own decision but I desperately want to find a better and more reasonable dental office for our child. read more
