I followed Dr. Mejia from her former practice in Oak Cliff to this practice at The Plano Dentist, and now drive to Plano from Oak Cliff because she and her team are so worth it! Run! That was the response my previous dentist told my wife after visiting him for a second opinion (we moved and needed a new Dentist) after Dr. Mejia diagnosed both me and my wife with more cavities than we have had in our entire life combined. I do not have the world's best teeth but I rarely drink soda and brush/floss several times a day and had not had a cavity in nearly a decade. So I was shocked when I was told I not only have gingivitis but 9 cavities as well. The explanation was too much coffee (don't put sugar in my coffee). My wife who has never had a cavity all of a sudden had 4. They do show pictures (and seem quick to do so) to justify their diagnosis but I later learned real cavities would be best shown through x-rays... and the 'cavities' they were showing were nothing more than stains that needed watching if anything. After my visit I started googling Dentist Scams.... and I was certain this was the case. It seems to me they diagnose as much as they can and they reach out to your insurance company to see what will be covered... and see what they can get away with. My wife was able to return to our old town for work and quickly scheduled an appointment with our previous Dentist and he confirmed my beliefs. I strongly suggest anyone who is looking or currently does visit Dr. Mejia to reconsider. They can be causing permanent damage to your teeth to fix things that may not be a problem... all because they can charge your insurance. read more

Both my 20-something year old daughters and me have been going to The Plano Dentist after searching for a new dentist after our pediatric dentist kicked my kids to the curb at age 21 (LOL). This is such a friendly, helpful group of people and we love Dr. Mejia. She is friendly, intelligent, caring, and doesn't "up-sell" like many other dentists now do. The dental hygienists are very gentle too, which is greatly appreciated. We never have any billing or insurance issues either as I've had some other dentist offices in the past. We wouldn't go to any other dentist and very highly recommend The Plano Dentist! read more

I've been going to The Plano Dentist for over 10 years, and I've almost never had to wait in the office for more than two minutes. The dentists change frequently, but they're always kind, competent, and professional. The hygienists are good, too. I went today, and the new dentist was excellent--didn't even feel my shot. She's got the magic touch, probably because she worked on children for 3 years. I highly recommend them. read more

I needed to change dentists because of my insurance & was given this office so I made an appointment. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with the upmost respect. I was explained all of my treatment options, the pros & cons of getting different treatments along with the costs of each and that it was up to me on when and what treatments I wanted to do. These guys don't know what they are doing. They billed my insurance for both me and my husband, my husband had never ever been there for any visits. Then didn't fix my account for a year then sent an incorrect bill a year later. The cleaning was ok (I am in the dental industry) but I will never return here. read more

My experience with Dr. Bushey, and every person on staff has been amazing. I love the atmosphere, the music, and most definitely the customer service. I've gone several times in the last few months for fillings and cleanings and I have no complaints. Dr Bushey and the entire staff do an outstanding job, customer experience focused. I have never felt rushed or inconvenienced. She gives her suggested plan and asks for patient feedback. I don't feel forced to get any of her suggested treatment. I've gone to other dentist and felt like I was working with a salesperson. I truly feel like my dental health is priority at The Plano Dentist. read more

We had my 6 year old daughter's appointment today for regular clean up and pulling a wiggly baby tooth out. We were billed for $250 and charged $100 without running the claim to the insurance. This is the first time I have been to a dentist office where they want to charge you before sending the bill for adjustment to the insurance. Of course if they had send the bill to the insurance, the rates would have been adjusted, and these guys would not have made this much money. I am never ever going back to give them business again. Stay away... Update - 12/12/12 I got a call from the office today about the review I left. So, at least some one reads the reviews, however they can not do anything about it. I was first told that the amount that we were charged was run through the insurance. When I told them that the invoice says that 'the amount shown is an estimate, and I might get another bill for the uncovered expenses', they changed the statement. I was told that I will get a refund from them if the amount charged is more than what I owe... read more

Best cavity filling experience I've ever had. Great bedside manner, positive environment.

Came in for my first visit a few days ago after not having been to the dentist in a while due to a bad experience at my last dentist. I was pleasantly suprised by how nice everyone was and how gentle the cleaning and exam were. They brought me a blanket because I was cold and a bottle of water. They have TVs in all the rooms so that was really cool too. Dr. Jones was really sweet and didn't try to make me feel terrible for having gone so long without a check up! Luckily I only had 2 cavities and they were able to fix them that day after my cleaning. I was so grateful that I didn't have to miss work coming back for another appointment. I will definitley be coming back and bringing my husband in :) read more

Horrible! The only thing they are about is getting money out of you. I was charged with a ridiculous amount for just seeing the dentist. And they made me sign the paper work saying I agree to the terms, and said that we would discuss the payment later. When in reality I was not informed of the fees until after talking to the doctor! And when I called and asked about it the only thing they could do was say sorry we didn't inform you, and that there was nothing that they could do?! Horrible business. Don't go here. read more

I am tired of hearing my wife complain about this place. Apparently who ever is in charge of billing there doesn't have a clue what they are doing. They overcharged her by over $100 dollars and then tried to play stupid when she confronted them about it after she received the paperwork from our insurance company. Then they hit her with a bunch of nickel and dime fees which made it look like they were just coming up with stuff to eat up the credit they owed her. I don't know what has happened to this place since Dr. Potter left but apparently its all gone downhill. Neither my wife or I will be returning. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I live about an hour away and made an appointment weeks in advanced for a Friday at 8:30AM that I reluctantly took as their "last available appointment for weeks" and I have been a long time patient with this dentist. I rushed through 8am traffic to be there on time and when I got there the lady rudely informed me that they had tried to call me THIS MORNING to let me know they are closed on Fridays and I ask "what number did you call I don't have any missed calls and why didn't you let me know this weeks in advanced when I made the appointment for a Friday" and she said that the lady who made the appointment DIDNT KNOW THE SCHEDULE... Isn't that her job to know the schedule? To top it off she called a number that I haven't used in years and I have updated the information with them multiple times then but for some reason she doesn't have of my records past 2008, yet I got a cavity filled there only 3 years ago. She said "don't worry we can get you another appointment" and I let her know I don't live there I live an hour away. She rudely said "thanks for the attitude". Wow. I will never return here again this is not how you should treat a long time patient and they shouldn't make appointments if they don't know the schedule. very poorly run. DONT GO HERE read more

My two kids and I have been at this location twice for cleanings. There was initial trouble when doing my 6 year old's xray's and was going to be referred out. Not what I was looking for so I got them to keep trying and we finally got the huge X ray's to work in his little mouth. ( They need smaller ones that are available.) I made an apt for my son due to pain and needing a baby crown on a molar where a filling fell out. It took a week to get him in. The day before the apt they called and said they would have to cancel and refer him out as she doesn't do those. Why was I booked in the first place then and my son waited for this when I could of already got him in else where? I went ahead and cancelled all 3 of our next 6 month cleanings. Both times I went I was told I need to redo my crown for a very high amount. I have seen 4 dentists prior to her and never was told I needed to redo my crown. ( I have had it over 5 years.) I feel I was trying to be sold on services I did not really need. Very nice people however just not the dentist we are looking for , for a full family service. read more
