I needed to get a semi-emergent tooth extraction, and my dentist couldn't fit me in on such late notice, so I went to a referral of a referral. I got a bad feeling from the moment I walked in. The receptionists were not friendly, the place smelled funny, and from the look of other clientele, it was apparent that this was a very low-price-low-quality establishment. But my tooth was hurting so badly, I chanced it and went forward with the procedure. After a 45 minute wait, here is what happened: First, they took me to the consultation room, where Dr. Hill confirmed with me what medicines I was on, and tapped on the tooth to make sure it was the right one. I began to ask several questions about the procedure, and was told "my assistant will handle that after the procedure." Then, before answering any questions, they demanded that I pay beforehand. Another red flag. They also charged me a $55 "consultation fee" which they neglected to mention when I called about pricing. Apparently, the doctor checking which tooth he is going to pull counts as a "consultation." Also, important to point out that I heard the doctor and a receptionist discussing what tooth they were going to pull on another patient. She had written "13" instead of "20". So she scribbled it out and wrote the right one. Ummmm, that's a little scary! When I was taken back to the room, the doctor came in, and gave me several shots in a row. While they were 100% effective at numbing me (which is a huge consideration, I know), I think he gave me about 6 shots in 15 seconds. Literally just stabbing them into my gums. Nothing like I've ever experienced in my years of having dental work done. I was obviously very nervous about having a tooth pulled (almost hyperventilating) and he barely offered any assurances other than a quick "I'm the one that has to worry - not you." Gee, thanks. It took him 5 or 10 minutes to remove the tooth. Then I never saw him again. He said his assistant would answer all my questions, despite my request to talk to him. I should have been concerned when I was having a dental assistant answering questions about recovery from a major procedure. She knew nothing! I asked what I needed to do to prevent dry socket, and she said I didn't need to worry about it. I said "Well, I've heard I shouldn't suck on a straw. Anything else?" and she said 'Oh, don't worry. You can suck on a straw." WHAT?!? That's tooth extraction 101. No, you can't. I hated the practice so much that I refused to even go back for my checkup. I felt like a herded cattle being rushed through so they could charge as many "consultation fees" as they could. They could not care less about their patients. STAY AWAY. read more

I'm a regular Joe and Dr. Hill did a wonderful job I had a tooth that was infected schedule appointment he pulled it the next day .the staff was very nice .the place was very clean ,highly recommend him!!! The best part was I didn't have to sit in the waiting room waiting forever ... l filled out my paperwork and they took me right in!!! Dr. Hill performed a flawless and painless extraction of my molar. After having had many painful experiences in dental chairs over the years my confidence in a good experience was low. His staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were explained to me on the initial scheduling call. Dr. Hill was reassuring, explained each step of the procedure prior to sedating me. The initial sedation injection was a bit uncomfortable, but that is true of any injection. The sedative was effective, and the procedure went well. I found Dr. Hill to be compassionate, professional, and he was very clear in his explanations of the procedure prior to beginning. And yes, I paid prior to the procedure. Having a service business myself I do know that you can't take the service back after it is done and your client states that they forgot their wallet, won't get paid until Friday, or just don't have the money. I have no problem with that. It's not about me personally, it's about a general issue many service providers deal with. The aftercare conversation was done thoroughly. And yes, I was told I could drink through a straw. I had stitches, not an open socket. There is no dry socket or vacuuming out needed blood clotting through sucking on a straw when there are stitches. After a botched jaw surgery that resulted in what this office refers to as a "rare" complication of a broken tooth, I then had to spend hundreds of dollars on a flipper, and another several thousand dollars for a ceramic crown for the implant. The office did cover the implant on his end as the complication was due to their surgery. I would not recommend this office to anyone. As someone who was traveling out of town to make these appointments, there were days in which I would request off from work, drive into town, only to be told that they did not have what was needed for the procedure of the day. It is one thing to have experienced an unfortunate complication of the surgery, but I felt that my time was not respected, and as a healthy young patient, this should not have been a complicated procedure. I'm sure that they can handle tooth extractions and minor surgeries but I would recommend seeking other options for jaw surgery. read more

Had a tooth that needed pulled due to resorption. Because my dentist was concerned that the tooth might split during extraction, he sent me to Dr. Hill. His words were "this guy is the one I take my own kids to." He said it was worth the drive, as I had to come across town from North Carrollton/West Plano area. Dr. Hill and his staff were professional and helpful. I was really nervous at first but he put me at ease. My worst fears were not realized as the tooth came out in one piece, and the procedure itself was fairly short. Would recommend him to friends and family. read more

Dr Hill is REALLY good at what he does. I had an implant and a wisdom tooth pulled at the same time. My swelling was minimal for few hours, I bled briefly and I never had pain after the numbness wore off. I didn't have to take ANY pain killers! The staff in the office were very nice too. read more

The worst experience I've ever had. The receptionist is extremely rude. Couldn't comprehend that my medical insurance also included dental. Began yelling at me on the phone then hung up. Called back to speak with the office manager. Receptionist told me there was no office manager and hung up again. My husband called and spoken with the office manager and she said no problem filing under the medical. Doctor wasn't much better. Couldn't find a vein for my daughter's IV. After the 4th stick she started having anxiety. The doctor told her she needed to stop acting like a child, act like an adult and stop with the anxiety. While in the office I heard the receptionist being rude to patients on the phone and with patients in the waiting room. Very unprofessional. We won't be going back. I would not recommend this oral surgeon to anyone. read more

I had to have what remained of a broken molar removed and was referred by my regular dentist to Dr. Hill. The appointment was set up quickly and I was given a consult before the procedure. I read the 2014 review that was negative before setting the appointment but decided to go to Dr. Hill since my dentist recommended him so highly. Because my experience was so different from the previous review, I decided to write my experiences. I had no problems with my extraction and only used tylenol the day of and the day after the procedure. The office staff was just fine and seemed efficient. I had asked them to let me know the charges before I had the procedure so that I could come prepared to pay. They got back quickly to give me the information. As mentioned by the other review, I also paid before the procedure but frankly that was much better than having to deal with the financials having just gone through the extraction. The staff was helpful and I have no complaints. The extraction site caused me no serious pain. Because of the nature of a tooth extraction I also had several injections to completely numb the area. The injections worked perfectly and I was impressed at how quickly the procedure was over (10-15 minutes). I would return to Dr. Hill and would send family members to him if needed. read more
